I'm getting really concerned about the state of journalism in Cali rn
. These tech giants are making bank off our personal info, but what do we get in return? A few scraps from their table?
It's like they're sucking up all the air in California and leaving us with nothing but propaganda and fake news.
I'm not sure what's more alarming - the fact that 7/10 journalists have lost their jobs or the lack of concrete action being taken by lawmakers. A $175 million deal sounds great on paper, but when it comes down to it, Google is basically just paying lip service
.
We need real solutions here, not just handshakes and empty promises
. Lawmakers should be forcing these platforms to pay up for the news they're stealing. It's time to put some teeth in this deal and make sure California's democracy has a robust press that can hold those in power accountable
