Legendary Las Vegas Residency Postponed as Barry Manilow Focuses on Recovery
Singer-songwriter Barry Manilow has indefinitely delayed the start of his highly-anticipated residency at Westgate Las Vegas, citing a need to prioritize healing and preparation after undergoing cancer surgery. The 78-year-old crooner was set to begin performing on February 12, but instead, he has pushed back the dates to March 26, 27, and 28.
According to Manilow's statement released on social media, "I'm doing great and recovering very well after my surgery... I've been getting exercise and spending some time in the studio, which has been fantastic." He added that, with his doctor's guidance, he decided to postpone his residency dates to focus on healing and preparing for his upcoming tour.
While Manilow is still scheduled to kick off his arena tour in Tampa, Florida, on February 27, several cities across the country will be on his agenda, including Nashville, Orlando, Charleston, Portland, and more. The tour is set to wrap up in Duluth, Georgia, at Gas South Arena on April 29.
Tickets for Manilow's initial residency dates will be refunded, but fans can look forward to hearing him perform at Westgate once again in the coming weeks. With his new song "Once Before I Go" recently hitting the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, Manilow is back in the spotlight and ready to entertain audiences with his signature blend of catchy melodies and heartfelt lyrics.
As for now, Manilow's priority remains recovery, but his devoted fan base can take comfort in knowing that he's working diligently to ensure a triumphant return to the stage.
