Billboard Power Players List to Return to U.K. and Ireland For 2026

British and Irish music industry leaders are set to be celebrated in the Power Players list, as nominations open for 2026. The prestigious list will recognize executives driving change at the forefront of the region's music scene.

Nominations for the highly anticipated list are now open, with a deadline of February 3, 11:59 p.m. GMT. Companies and peers can submit nominees through the official link. The inaugural Power Players list was launched in 2025 and received huge names attending an accompanying Global Power Players event that took place in London.

The next edition is expected to be published in May 2026, with nominations selected by the Billboard U.K. team. British and Irish music continues to set the pace globally, not just creatively but commercially. The return of the Power Players list highlights executives who are driving that momentum forward.

A huge year for British and Irish acts on the world stage follows a period of significant growth in the U.K.'s recorded music market, which saw a 5% increase in 2025 according to the BPI announcement. Other notable names making an impact on the Billboard Hot 100 include Hozier, Ed Sheeran, Lola Young, Myles Smith and Olivia Dean.

Major cultural moments are also expected this year, including performances by Dean at London's O2 Arena, while Lily Allen and RAYE will embark on huge arena tours across the U.K. and Europe in the coming months. The BRIT Awards is set to leave London for the first time, and Reading & Leeds Festival will return with all headlining acts being exclusively British and Irish names.

I'm loving how the music industry in the UK is killing it 🀩! The fact that they're recognizing executives who are driving change is super inspiring. I mean, can you think of anyone else who's pushing the boundaries of British and Irish music? From Hozier to Ed Sheeran, those guys are putting the region on the map 🌍. And with the return of the Power Players list, it's clear that they're not slowing down anytime soon. I'm hyped for the upcoming events, like Dean's performance at the O2 Arena - can't wait to see her slay the stage πŸ’₯!

omg u guys i cant even believe its already 2026 lol! i was just thinking about how much british music is killing it rn like have u seen ed sheerans latest vids?? and now they're making a power players list to celebrate the people behind the scene who are making all this magic happen 🎢πŸ”₯ i wish our school could do something like that for our student leaders lol but for real though, its gonna be so cool to see these execs get recognized! anywho, cant wait to see what other amazing things british music has in store for us in 2026 πŸ’–

idk, man... i just dont get why we gotta celebrate these execs so much πŸ€”. like, sure, they're good at what they do, but can't we just let them keep doing it without all the fuss? and what's with the commercial aspect, tho? shouldn't music be about art and expression or something? anyway, if its gonna happen, i guess ill submit a nominee... or maybe not... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

just saw that they're opening nominations for the power players list again πŸ€”. gotta say, it's dope to see british and irish music getting the recognition it deserves. like, ed sheeran is killing it over here, always pushing the boundaries of his sound πŸ’₯. hope there are some newer faces making a splash too, would love to see more diversity on that list πŸ‘€. think it's great that they're highlighting the execs driving change in the industry, those are the real game changers πŸ”“. fingers crossed someone from beyond london gets a shoutout this time 🀞

OMG, I'm so stoked about this! The Power Players list is literally the coolest thing happening in music right now 🀩. And with the U.K.'s recorded music market growing by 5% last year, I know there are so many talented artists on the rise - I've got my eye on Hozier, Ed Sheeran, and Olivia Dean for sure! 🎡 Can't wait to see who makes it onto this year's list πŸ’–.

🎡 I'm so stoked that they're opening up nominations for the Power Players list again! It's awesome to see British and Irish music industry leaders getting recognized for all their hard work πŸ™Œ. I mean, have you seen some of the talent coming out of the UK and Ireland right now? Hozier, Ed Sheeran, Olivia Dean - they're killing it on the Billboard Hot 100! 🀩 And with the BRIT Awards and Reading & Leeds Festival happening this year, it's going to be a huge year for British and Irish music. I'm curious to see who gets nominated for the Power Players list this time around... πŸ€”

πŸ“°πŸ’” just saw that there's a 5% increase in U.K.'s recorded music market in 2025 but you know what that really means? It means the artists are getting paid less for their work, the industry is still super exploitative... and it's all about those major hits vs actual fair compensation

OMG, I'm so curious about who's going to be on this year's Power Players list πŸ€”! Like, have you heard of all these artists I mentioned in the news? Hozier, Ed Sheeran, and Olivia Dean are like total powerhouses πŸ’₯. And what's up with Lily Allen and RAYE's arena tours? Are they going to play at the same time? 🎟️ That would be a major cultural moment! And did you know that British and Irish music is killing it globally right now? It's crazy how much growth we've seen in the U.K.'s recorded music market, 5% increase in 2025? Mind. Blown 😲 Can't wait to see who's going to be on this list! 🀞

OMG u guys!!! 🀩 I'm literally so hyped for the next Power Players list!! I mean we already saw some amazing ones in 2025 and I know there are going to be even more incredible people recognized this year! πŸ’₯ From Hozier and Ed Sheeran to Lola Young and Myles Smith, our Brit and Irish music scene is truly on fire πŸ”₯🎸 And with the BRIT Awards and Reading & Leeds Festival making a comeback with all those amazing headlining acts... it's just going to be another epic year for music! πŸŽ‰πŸ’– Can't wait to see who gets nominated this time around!!! πŸ’¬

I think its kinda funny that music execs are getting "recognized" for driving change... like who decides what's good for the industry anyway? πŸ€” Is it just another case of crony capitalism where those in power get rewarded with a fancy list? And whats the criteria for selection - is it just about who's got the most followers on social media or is there some actual substance to their work?

Also, I mean, 5% increase in the U.K.'s recorded music market may seem like a good thing, but is that growth being evenly distributed among all genres and artists or are we seeing more of the same corporate dominance we've always had in the industry? Shouldn't we be celebrating diversity of sound and style over just another bunch of "talented" musicians who happen to fit into the mainstream mold?

And what about those who are getting left behind - the indie labels, the smaller artists, the ones who aren't getting the same amount of exposure as these big names. Are they being counted in this "growth" or are we seeing just more of the same old power structures in place? πŸ€‘

man I cant even believe its been a year since they did that global power players event in london 🀯 it felt like just yesterday we were all talking about how iconic that was... and now its time to do it again! i'm not surprised to see those british and irish acts killing the game globally, but what's crazy is that their growth is really starting to show - a 5% increase in the u.k.'s recorded music market? thats no joke! 🀯 i mean, hozier, ed sheeran, lola young... its like theyre not even trying anymore lol. anyhoo, cant wait for the next power players list and all those major cultural moments this year. london's gonna be lit with performances by dean, allen, raye, and more! πŸŽ‰

πŸ€” so like, I'm not surprised they're gonna celebrate those music industry leaders in 2026... been a huge year for Brit and Irish acts already πŸŽ‰ hozier's on that Billboard Hot 100, ed sheeran's always doing well, and olivia dean's got some major performances lined up at the o2 arena 🌟 gotta give it to them for makin' a mark on the global music scene. but what I think is cool is how the power players list acknowledges all the behind-the-scenes folks who are drivin' that momentum forward πŸ‘ those execs who are helpin' make Brit and Irish music a household name deserve some recognition πŸ™Œ

😊 I'm still getting used to these new faces in the music industry! Remember when it was just about the big four record labels? 🀣 Now we've got so many talented artists breaking through and making waves globally. Love that Hozier's on the Billboard Hot 100, he was a major part of my discovery playlist back in the day 🎡. And I'm excited to see what this new Power Players list is going to throw up, it'll be interesting to see who makes the cut! πŸ’‘

πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ finally, some good news about the music industry. Like, who doesn't love celebrating the people making our ears bleed with sick beats and melodies? The fact that they're opening up nominations for the Power Players list is a huge step forward. I mean, we've had an amazing year in 2025, from Hozier to Ed Sheeran killing it on the Billboard Hot 100... who wouldn't want to recognize those folks? And with all these major cultural moments lined up, like Lily Allen and RAYE's arena tours and Olivia Dean rocking the O2 Arena, I'm hyped for what's coming next. Let's just hope they don't make me nominate myself πŸ˜…

OMG I'm so excited about the next Power Players list 🀩, but at the same time I'm kinda hoping it'll be cancelled because we all know how hyped those events get and honestly I don't think I could handle another one πŸ’β€β™€οΈ... wait nope! British music is literally changing the game right now and it's awesome to see them getting recognized for it πŸŽ‰. But what if they're just giving the spotlight to the big names like Ed Sheeran while forgetting about all the up-and-coming artists? πŸ€” Shouldn't we be celebrating those newcomers too?! πŸ™ƒ

OMG!!! 🀯 Can you even believe its already been a year since the first Power Players list came out?! Like what's happening to time right now? It feels like just yesterday we were all buzzing about those incredible debutants and trailblazers making waves in the industry. And now, another year is upon us and it's like... the next gen of game-changers are taking center stage! 🌟 The fact that Hozier and Ed Sheeran are still slaying it (and not just on the charts but off too) is seriously giving me LIFE!!! πŸ’– Those names you mentioned - Lola Young, Myles Smith, Olivia Dean... they're all like, the real deal! πŸ”₯ And don't even get me started on Lily Allen and RAYE's upcoming tours... I'm FREAKING OUT!!! πŸŽ‰
