Blackhawks see 'level that we've got to get to' in shootout loss to Lightning

Blackhawks Fall Short Against Lightning in Shootout, Identify Areas for Improvement

The Chicago Blackhawks fell short in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday, marking another testing ground for the young squad as they strive to reach the same level of success as their rivals. Despite being outplayed by the Lightning in every aspect of the game, Blackhawks coach Jeff Blashill saw potential in his team's performance and vowed to continue working towards that elusive mark.

Goalie Arvid Soderblom was the hero for the Hawks, making 30 saves in a busy night, but even he acknowledged the team didn't quite reach the level they needed to. "It was fun to play, see a lot of shots," he said, adding that the team played their best hockey in the third period, only to come up just short.

The Lightning's superior firepower proved too much for the Blackhawks' offense to handle, as Chicago struggled to create scoring chances throughout the game. The team's first shot on goal didn't arrive until the second period, and they finished with a paltry two shots over the 20-minute frame. To make matters worse, the Hawks squandered all three of their power-play opportunities.

Despite the loss, Blackhawks forward Ryan Greene saw a silver lining in the game. "I thought we played really well in the third and had some chances to put it away," he said. Greene also praised Soderblom's performance, saying that without the goalie's stellar play, the game might have gone into overtime.

Greene himself has been on an uptick lately, scoring his third goal in seven games, which Blashill attributed to a growing confidence level. "Confidence is part of it, so once you start scoring, that's when guys start going on streaks and start scoring on a regular basis," the coach said.

The Blackhawks will continue to measure themselves against the Lightning, as well as the Carolina Hurricanes, whom they beat in a shootout just two nights ago. Blashill emphasized that his team isn't satisfied with simply picking up three points over the course of two nights. "I thought we played really well in the third and had some chances to put it away," he said, echoing Greene's sentiments. The Blackhawks are committed to playing the right way and maintaining their momentum, hoping that continued growth will help them become a formidable team in the NHL.

**NHL teams need at least 5-6 years of data before they can make real predictions about winning rates πŸ“Š**

The Blackhawks were super unlucky last night πŸ”΄βš«οΈ, their offense was so quiet that they only got 2 shots on goal in the first 20 min of game 🀯. And now they gotta analyze every detail from this game to understand where did it go wrong. Maybe they need another year or two before they start competing with top teams for cups πŸ†

**Goalie performance is still the key πŸ”₯**
The stats show that goalie Arvid Soderblom was the only reason Chicago didn't lose by 3-0 goals 😱, but it's not enough to carry the entire team. They need more balance and depth in their lineup.

**NHL shootout is still weird πŸ€”**
Why do teams keep using shootouts as a way to win games? It's not even close to reflecting real hockey skills. Just pick up 3 points already πŸ˜…

**Ryan Greene on fire πŸ”₯**
The forward is on his third goal in seven games, I'd expect that trend to continue. Maybe he'll be the one who brings this team back to playoffs next year πŸ’ͺ

I gotta say, I'm kinda surprised they didn't shut out the Lightning lol πŸ˜‚. Like, 2-1 just doesn't seem like enough points for a team with that much firepower on offense. Plus, their D was getting torched all night πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, Arvid Soderblom made some sick saves, but you can only do so much when the whole team is having an off night 😐.

I'm not trying to be a hater or anything, but it's hard not to wonder if they're just not clicking yet πŸ€”. They've got some solid pieces on their roster, but if they can't score with all that talent, then what's the point? πŸ€‘.

And honestly, I think people are being too optimistic about this team right now 😎. They beat one game against the Hurricanes, and suddenly they're a top contender? Come on, let's not get ahead of ourselves πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ.

πŸ€” I'm tellin' ya, the Hawks just can't seem to catch a break, you know? They're like a kid who's always one step away from scoring the goal πŸ’οΈ, but can't quite put it all together. And that power-play unit... oh man, it's like they're tryin' to make it rain, but the puck just ain't cooperatin' πŸ˜‚.

But for real though, it's great to see Greene finally gettin' his mojo back πŸŽ‰. He's like the spark plug of the team now, and Blashill's onto somethin' with that confidence thingy πŸ’‘. It's like, once you start believin' in yourself, the rest just falls into place, you know? And Soderblom's performance was straight fire πŸ”₯, even if it wasn't enough to save 'em.

I gotta say, though, the Blackhawks need to step up their game if they wanna keep hangin' with those top dogs like the Lightning πŸ’ͺ. They can't just rely on one guy to carry the team; they need a more balanced attack 🀝. Still, I'm lovin' the attitude from Blashill and the crew – they're makin' me believe in 'em yet 😊

the thing is the blackhawks seem like they're making progress but are still really inconsistent πŸ€”...like arvid sodderblom's saving all those shots alone can't cover up the fact that chicago just can't score πŸ’₯...and on the other hand ryan greene's on fire right now πŸ”₯, it'll be interesting to see if he stays hot or cools off again...coaching wise jeff blashill's got some good points about confidence and momentum, but they gotta work on those powerplay chances 😳...anyway, i'm still excited for the blackhawks and what they can do this season πŸ‘

man i was at the game last night and the energy was electric πŸŽ‰ but the hawks just couldn't seem to get anything going on offense lol they were all over the place out there like a bunch of kittens chasing laser pointers 😹 i mean arvid soderblom made some amazing saves but even he said it wasn't enough πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ and ryan greene is finally finding his groove like what's taking him so long to score three goals in seven games lol anyway gotta give it up for the guy and coach blashill is all about building confidence now which i'm down for

The Blackhawks' young squad is still growing pains πŸ€•. They're showing promise, but those power-play struggles need to be sorted out ASAP ⚑️. I mean, 3 shots over 20 minutes is not exactly setting the world on fire πŸ”₯. And while Arvid Soderblom was the hero in goal, the rest of the team can't rely on one guy to bail them out every time 🀝. It's like they're stuck in neutral gear and need to shift their game up a notch ⬆️. The coaching is all about confidence now, and it's interesting to see how that plays out - if Ryan Greene keeps scoring, maybe the whole team will start finding its footing 🎯.

omg I feel like they r still tryna figure out who they r as a team πŸ€”. Blashill said they played well in the 3rd period but just couldn't score πŸ’οΈ. & those power-play opportunities wasted πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ, it's like they didn't even know how to capitalize on them πŸ€‘. arvid sodersblom was tho tho tho 🀯 tho! his saves were insane lol. anywayz u think they can bounce back from this loss? πŸ€”

man i was at the game last night and it was insane how little shots the hawks got 🀯 only like 2 or 3 in the first period and they still managed to hang with the lightning for like an hour but once they started to get more chances in the third i thought we had a real shot at winning πŸ”₯ sadly ryan greene's 3rd goal in 7 games wasn't enough to seal the deal πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ guess that's just part of the game though and it's cool to see the coach's optimism about the team's growth πŸ’ͺ gotta root for them, they're trying to build something special 😊

πŸ€” I gotta say, 1-0 against the Hurricanes is nice but it feels like they're still finding their footing 😐. Blashill's on point about confidence being key though πŸ™Œ Greene's been on fire lately and it's awesome to see him scoring goals πŸ’₯ The problem is, they can't seem to string together more than one or two good periods in a game πŸ“‰ They need to work on their power play and offense before they can really start competing with the top teams πŸ’ͺ Still, I'm optimistic about the Hawks' future 🌟

the shootout loss stings but gotta give credit to arvid soderblom, 30 saves is no joke 🀯 he was the real MVP tonight. the rest of the squad just needs to work on creating those scoring chances, it's not like they were getting shut out or anything πŸ˜… they need to keep pushing that confidence level with ryan greene going strong and see if that snowballs into a win soon πŸ’οΈ

lol the hawks r still tryna figure out who dat guy is lol [link to hockey highlights](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqzJtT4M8bE) i mean arvid was on fire but cmon 2-1 against a team like the lightning? that's gotta hurt some ppl are hypin the young squad tho, but coach blashill needs to work on gettin those PP ops goin lol [link to nhl power play stats](https://www.nhl.com/stats/teams/shot-attempted-power-play). anywayz, can't wait to see how the hawks face off against carolina next

πŸ€” I mean, 0 shots on goal in the first 20 minutes is just crazy talk! 😲 And those power plays? Forget about it. They just couldn't get anything going. But you know what's crazy? The Hawks' confidence is growing πŸš€ and that's a good thing. Ryan Greene's been on fire lately and it's awesome to see him scoring consistently. Coach Blashill knows his stuff and he's right, confidence is key πŸ”₯. Maybe they just need a little more time to gel as a team? The Lightning are tough, but the Hawks have potential too πŸ’ͺ. Can't wait to see how this season plays out πŸ“Ί

πŸ€” the blacks Hawks need to step up their game if they wanna keep up with teams like the lightning 🌊 arvid soderblom is doin his thang in goal, but offense needs 2 get its act together 🚫 gotta make more shots, especially on power plays πŸ’₯ and greens got some good vibes about his recent form πŸ’ͺ hopefully blashill's coaching can help them gel ASAP πŸ‘

man, i feel bad for the blackhawks lol they just got dominated by the lightning but you gotta give 'em credit for pushing it till the end 🀯 arvid soderblom was on fire out there tho, 30 saves is no joke πŸ™Œ andryan greene's confidence is growing fast, that's a good sign for the team πŸ’ͺ i think coach blashill's approach to game planning is solid, but they gotta find ways to create more scoring chances against teams like the lightning πŸ” maybe it's just a matter of time before they click into gear πŸ•°οΈ anyway, the hawks are still looking strong and i'm hyped for their next matchup against the canes πŸ’₯

I don't think they're gonna make it this season lol 🀣, at least not yet... Blackhawks need to step up their game big time, especially on offense. 2 shots in the 20-minute frame is insane! 😱 And all those power-play opportunities that got squandered? It's like they just weren't clicking tonight. I mean, I know Blashill said they played well in the third, but it wasn't enough to get past TB, and you can't beat a team like that by chance alone πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

The Hawks are like my fantasy football team - always promising but never quite delivering 🀣. Seriously though, Soderblom is like the Unsung Hero of the net, making 30 saves and still can't save his team from losing. And on the bright side, Greene's confidence level is rising like my hopes for a good Sunday roast dinner after watching this game πŸ˜‚. I mean, come on guys, get those shots up in the first period! It's not like the Lightning are going to magically lose their firepower. The Hawks need to work on their power play (literally, not just hockey) and figure out why they can't capitalize when they have chances. Blashill's gotta keep working with that team, or they'll be stuck in the NHL's 'almost good enough' zone forever πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

i don’t usually comment but... i think the blackhawks are still growing into themselves πŸ€”. they're playing some great hockey, but sometimes it's like they forget to finish off those chances 🚫. arvid soderblom is definitely their ace in the hole right now tho 🎯. and ryan greene seems like a bright spot for them - that confidence boost must be helping him out so much πŸ’ͺ. but you can tell coach blashill wants more from this team, and i'm curious to see how they bounce back from this loss πŸ”„. maybe next time they'll finally put it all together... 🀞

Ugh, Hawks can't catch a break πŸ™„. 30 saves from Soderblom isn't enough when you're getting torched on offense like that. And what's with the power-play struggles? It's like they forgot how to score πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. But hey, at least Greene is on fire lately and it's nice to see Blashill acknowledging areas for improvement. Maybe if they can work out those kinks, we might actually see some progress from this young squad πŸ˜’.
