Box Office: ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ Stays No. 1 for Fourth Consecutive Friday; ‘Primate’ Swings to $4.5 Million Opening Day

"Avatar: Fire and Ash" holds strong at the box office for fourth consecutive Friday, while "Primate" swings to a surprisingly robust opening day.

The latest installment in James Cameron's Avatar franchise continues to captivate audiences, raking in $5 million domestically on its latest Friday. The sci-fi epic, which recently breached the billion-dollar mark worldwide, is expected to pull in another $20 million by Sunday, solidifying its top spot at the domestic box office for a fourth consecutive week.

Coming in second place was Paramount's creature feature "Primate", which debuted with an impressive opening day of $4.5 million from 2,964 North American theaters. The horror film follows a group of teens whose island getaway turns deadly when their pet chimpanzee becomes a rabid killing machine. With a production budget of just $21 million, the film is expected to make $11 million through Sunday.

Meanwhile, Lionsgate's survival thriller "Greenland 2: Migration" also made its mark on opening Friday, with Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin starring in a story about a family searching for a new home after a comet strike devastated Earth. The sequel pulled in $3.2 million on its first day, and is projected to reach $8.5 million by Sunday.

The top five films at the domestic box office remained unchanged from last week, with A24's ping pong drama "Marty Supreme" holding steady with roughly $2.2 million domestically on Friday. The film, which has seen a 52% drop in earnings since its previous week, is projected to earn $7.9 million by Sunday and should cross the $70 million mark by the end of the weekend.

Lionsgate's twisty domestic thriller "The Housemaid" also continued to hold strong, collecting $3.3 million on its fourth Friday. The film should add $10.6 million by Sunday, bringing its total domestic gross to $93.5 million and declining 30% from this time last week.

I'm so stoked for Avatar: Fire and Ash! I mean, it's been out for a while now but it's still killing it at the box office 🤯. And Primate is like, totally surprising everyone with its opening day numbers - $4.5 million from just 2,964 theaters? That's insane! 💸 I'm curious to see how the other films hold up over the weekend... do you think Marty Supreme can keep its earnings steady or will The Housemaid stay on top? 🤔

I'm loving how Avatar: Fire and Ash is still going strong 🤯! I mean, who wouldn't wanna watch another epic sci-fi adventure on the big screen? The fact that it's doing so well for a fourth straight Friday is crazy 💥. And Primate seems like a solid second place finisher - that horror movie looks super intense 😱. But I gotta say, Greenland 2: Migration kinda got left behind 🤔... Gerard Butler can do better than $3.2 million on opening day! Still, it's always cool to see more survival thrillers making waves 🌊. The Housemaid is still holding up though - that twisty domestic thriller never fails to keep me hooked 🔓

just saw that avatar is still killing it at the box office 🤯👽 i mean, who wouldn't want to see more of poto and Neytiri's epic romance 😘 anyway, gotta give props to primate, that creature feature looks wild! 🐒💥 & can we talk about gerard butler in greenland 2: migration? he's like the ultimate action hero 💪🏽🌎 let's get ready for another blockbuster sequel! 🎥

Ugh 🤦‍♂️, another sci-fi flick dominating the box office 🚀... I mean, what's up with that? Can't we get some more diversity in movies? 🎥 "Primate" is a cool concept, but it feels like just another rip-off of "Jurassic Park" 😒. And don't even get me started on the marketing strategy for these big-budget flicks... $5 million on a Friday? That's just crazy 💸. I swear, if you want to make money at the box office, you need to be willing to take some risks and not play it so safe 🤷‍♂️. And have you noticed how all these movies are just sequels or prequels? Where's the originality? 🙄

im not surprised about avatar holding strong lol. james cameron knows how to make a blockbuster 🤑 it's crazy that prime is doing so well tho, i mean who doesn't love a good horror story about a rabid chimps 😂 but seriously though, greenland 2 seems like it could be an interesting take on the apocalypse genre. i'm also curious to see how marty supreme and the housemaid will do over the weekend 🤔

lol avatars been broken 🤯 i mean what's next a trillion dollars?! 💸 but seriously cameron knows how to make magic happen on the big screen, that guy is like a master of world building 🌐 and those primate fans are super loyal 🚧 anyway gonna give greenland 2 a shot just because gerard butler 🤔

I'm still waiting for a movie that's as epic as Avatar: Fire and Ash to come out... I mean, the special effects are insane! 🤯 But you know what was even more groundbreaking back in the day? The original Avatar film when it first came out in 2009. It was like nothing anyone had ever seen before! And can we talk about how much more exciting the box office is now compared to back then? I mean, $5 million on a Friday is crazy! But remember when Avatar broke that billion-dollar mark worldwide? That was like a big deal! 🎥

🤯 I'm loving how Avatar: Fire and Ash is holding strong at the box office 📈! Four consecutive Fridays is a testament to James Cameron's epic storytelling skills 🎥. And can we talk about Primate for a sec? 🐒 A $4.5 million opening day is insane! That kind of buzz around a horror movie is just what you need to get people talking 💬. I'm kinda curious how Greenland 2: Migration will hold up against these heavy hitters, but Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin are definitely in this to win it 💪. And don't sleep on Marty Supreme, that ping pong drama is giving me life 🎾👏!

omg u gotta check out avatar: fire & ash rn its been doing SO WELL at the box office! i mean we all knew james cameron's franchise is a beast but $5 mil on its latest friday? that's crazy 💸🔥 and to think it's gonna pull in another $20 mil by sunday, solidifying its top spot for 4 consecutive weeks 🤯 meanwhile primate is giving us life with that rabid killing machine plot twist 🐒😱 and greenland 2: migration is like the perfect apocalypse survival story we need more of those in our lives 😴💫
