Brian Burns Falls Short Despite Dominant Season in NFL All-Pro Voting.
The highly touted pass-rusher for the New York Giants fell short of securing a spot on the First Team All-Pro this season, despite dominating on the field. The Associated Press voting panel of 50 voters chose Browns' Myles Garrett as unanimous first choice at edge rusher alongside Texans' Will Anderson and Packers' Micah Parsons.
Burns received second team honors for his efforts, but it's clear that the Giants' dismal 4-13 record played a significant role in him being overlooked. With an impressive 16.5 sacks this season, Burns was on par with Lions' Aidan Hutchinson and Texans' Danielle Hunter, who also made the cut.
It is worth noting that only Myles Garrett managed to bring quarterbacks to the ground more often than Burns throughout the year. The Giants had several other players receive nods for their efforts; however, none of them reached All-Pro status this season.
Burns recently secured recognition as a Pro Bowl selection for the third time in his career and was even named winner of the George Young-Ernie Accorsi Media Good Guy Award by the Giants chapter of the Professional Football Writers Association.
