Bucks County Playhouse announces 2026 season with ‘Rent,’ ‘South Pacific’ and more

Bucks County Playhouse Unveils Diverse 2026 Season

The Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope has unveiled its 2026 season, featuring a diverse lineup of five shows that will run from February to January 2027. The theatrical production promises a mix of new works, American dramas, Broadway classics, and a holiday production.

The season gets underway on February 19 with the world premiere of "Starstruck," a musical comedy set in small-town Idaho featuring music by Emily Saliers of the Indigo Girls. This romantic comedy follows an astronomer and a bar owner who clash over a neon sign as their relationships become intertwined with local politics.

Tennessee Williams' classic drama "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" takes center stage from April 23 to May 23, exploring themes of strained marriage and long-buried secrets in a wealthy Southern family. The show promises to be an intense and emotional experience for audiences.

From June 18 to July 26, the playhouse will present Rodgers & Hammerstein's "South Pacific," a classic World War II romance set on a Pacific island that features iconic songs like "Some Enchanted Evening." This production is sure to transport audiences to a bygone era of love and sacrifice.

In August, the Bucks County Playhouse will host Jonathan Larson's "Rent," a rock musical that follows a group of young artists navigating love, friendship, and survival in 1990s New York City. The show promises to be an energetic and poignant exploration of creative passion and community.

Finally, the season closes with "Holiday Inn: The New Irving Berlin Musical" running from November 19 to January 3, 2027. This holiday production centers on a farmhouse turned seasonal entertainment venue, featuring Irving Berlin standards like "White Christmas."

Ticket prices vary by performance, seating location, and show, so audiences are encouraged to check the playhouse's website for more information on how to book their seats.

🎭 I'm so stoked about the new season at the Bucks County Playhouse! 🤩 It's awesome that they're bringing in a diverse range of shows, from musical comedies like "Starstruck" to classic dramas like "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". I love that they're showcasing Tennessee Williams' work - his plays are always so intense and emotional. And can you imagine belting out those iconic Rodgers & Hammerstein songs in "South Pacific"? 🎶 It's also cool that they're doing a holiday production of "Holiday Inn" - who doesn't love Irving Berlin standards? 😊 I'm definitely adding all these shows to my bucket list, can't wait to see them come to life on stage! 👏

I'm stoked they're showcasing some amazing works in 2026 🎭! But gotta say, I'm a bit worried about the lack of representation on stage... I mean, it's awesome that there's "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and "Rent", but is that really enough to make up for the overall diversity? 🤔 I'd love to see more shows with POC leads or at least some more female-centric plays. Still, I'm excited to check out "Starstruck" and that holiday production sounds like a blast! 🎄 Can't wait to see what the rest of the season has in store 🎉

ooh what's up with these show choices 🤔 i mean don't get me wrong, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" is classic but its like 70 years old why not do some newer stuff? and also who gets picked to play the astronomer in "Starstruck"? shouldnt they hold auditions first? 💁‍♀️ also Rodgers & Hammerstein's music is iconic but has it ever been done right? i mean, its a good thing we have people like Emily Saliers bringing new ideas to old songs 🎶

I'm not sure if I love this new season lineup... 🤔 I mean, it sounds like they're trying too hard to be inclusive with all these diverse shows 🎭. But at the same time, I think it's awesome that they're bringing back some classics like "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and "South Pacific" - those are timeless masterpieces 💫.

But what really got me thinking is how much tech-savvy our entertainment options have become 📱. It's just another sign of the changing times, you know? Back when I was younger, we had to actually go to a theater to experience live performances... it was a whole different world 🔮.

On the other hand, I'm all for more female representation in shows like "Starstruck" and "Holiday Inn: The New Irving Berlin Musical"... women's stories need to be told too! 💪 But then again, is it fair to say that only certain types of stories are considered "diverse"? 🤷‍♀️

🎭 The diversity of this season is truly commendable 🙌. With a range of works from classic American dramas like Tennessee Williams' "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" to iconic musicals like Rodgers & Hammerstein's "South Pacific", there's something for everyone in this lineup. I'm particularly intrigued by the world premiere of "Starstruck", a musical comedy that explores themes of love, politics, and small-town life. The inclusion of Jonathan Larson's "Rent" is also exciting, as it delves into the struggles and triumphs of creative passion. Overall, I think this season promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking experience for audiences 🎟️

I'm so stoked about this new season at the Bucks County Playhouse 🎟️! It looks like they're really committed to showcasing a diverse range of shows that'll appeal to everyone. I mean, who doesn't love a good musical comedy? "Starstruck" sounds like it's gonna be hilarious and I'm already imagining myself belting out some tunes from the Indigo Girls 🎶.

But what I think is really cool about this season is that they're not just sticking to oldies but goodies – there are some amazing new works and American dramas that'll give audiences something fresh and exciting. And of course, who can resist a classic Rodgers & Hammerstein musical like "South Pacific"? It's gonna be so much fun transporting ourselves back in time with the iconic songs 🌴.

I'm also really looking forward to seeing how they bring "Rent" to life – that show is such an important piece of history and it's amazing that the Bucks County Playhouse is gonna tackle it. And let's not forget about "Holiday Inn: The New Irving Berlin Musical"... who doesn't love a good holiday tune? 🎅️ All in all, this season has me super hyped!

Omg I'm so stoked about this new season at Bucks County Playhouse!!! 🤩 they're really going all out with some amazing shows! "Starstruck" sounds like so much fun, I love Indigo Girls and a musical comedy set in small-town Idaho? genius! 💡 And can't wait to see the classic drama "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", Tennessee Williams is a legend! 🙌 also super excited for "Rent", it's one of my fave shows ever! 🎸 but I'm a little surprised they're doing "Holiday Inn: The New Irving Berlin Musical"... not sure if that's going to be my cup of tea, might have to check out reviews first 😐

"Life begins at the end of your comfort zone." 🌟 The new season at Bucks County Playhouse has a great mix of old and new shows! Can't wait to see "Starstruck" in February, it sounds like a lot of fun 😄. And who can resist a good dose of Tennessee Williams' drama? I'm also stoked about Rodgers & Hammerstein's "South Pacific", that's one classic musical that never gets old 🎶. The rock musical "Rent" is always a high-energy show and the holiday production sounds like a great way to cap off the season 🎅️.

🎭 I'm loving the mix of old and new shows in this lineup! 🤩 It's awesome that they're featuring Tennessee Williams' classic drama "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" - it's such an iconic piece of theatre. 💥 And can't wait to see the holiday production, "Holiday Inn: The New Irving Berlin Musical", I'm a total sucker for Irving Berlin's tunes! 🎵 Rodgers & Hammerstein's "South Pacific" is another highlight, I've always been a fan of their work and this show looks like it's going to be amazing. 🌴 But what really excites me is the world premiere of "Starstruck" - musical comedies are so underrated and I love that it's set in small-town Idaho! 🏔️ Can't wait for 2026 to roll around and catch some (or all!) of these shows! 😍

I'm thinking the Bucks County Playhouse is making some solid choices for its 2026 season 🤔. I love that they're featuring a mix of new works and classics like Tennessee Williams' "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" - it's gonna be intense, but in a good way 😱. And Rodgers & Hammerstein's "South Pacific" sounds like it's gonna be a real trip back in time, you know? 🎵

But what I'm most excited about is the diversity of the lineup - small-town Idaho, 1990s New York City, and a Southern family drama... it's all over the board, which is kinda awesome 🌈. And can't forget that Jonathan Larson's "Rent" is on the schedule! That show always gets me pumped up 💃.

I'm not sure about "Starstruck" yet - I mean, small-town Idaho and a neon sign? Sounds like a bit of a weird choice to me 🤷‍♀️. But hey, maybe that's what makes it so interesting? We'll just have to wait and see! 😉

🎭 I'm loving that the Bucks County Playhouse is putting out a diverse lineup next year! 🤩 It's great to see them showcasing classic shows like "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and "South Pacific", but also bringing in some fresh new works like "Starstruck". 🌟 The fact that they're doing Jonathan Larson's "Rent" is also super exciting - it's such an iconic show! 💖 I'm also intrigued by the holiday production, "Holiday Inn: The New Irving Berlin Musical"... who knew there was more to Irving Berlin than just "White Christmas"? 😄 Can't wait to see what the season has in store! 🎟️

🤔 I'm excited about this new season at the Bucks County Playhouse 🎭! It sounds like they're really trying to mix things up with a diverse lineup of shows 🌈. "Starstruck" sounds hilarious, and I love that it's set in small-town Idaho 🏠. The fact that it features music by Emily Saliers of the Indigo Girls is a bonus for me - their harmonies are so soothing 😌.

But what really caught my eye was the production of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". Tennessee Williams is a master of storytelling, and this classic drama sounds like it's going to be so intense and emotional 💥. It'll be interesting to see how they bring the complex themes of strained marriage and long-buried secrets to life on stage 🤝.

I'm also looking forward to "South Pacific" - who doesn't love Rodgers & Hammerstein? 🎶 The songs are timeless, and this production promises to be a real treat. And of course, "Rent" is always a great choice for a rock musical 🤘. It'll be interesting to see how the playhouse brings this iconic show to life.

Overall, I think the new season looks like it's going to be really special 🎉. Can't wait to see what they have in store!

idk if i'm excited about this season yet... 🤔 Bucks County Playhouse is defo doing a great job of showcasing diverse shows, but I gotta say, it feels like they're playing it safe with some classic titles. Like, I get it, those are iconic and all that, but can't we expect something a bit more... edgy? 🎭 i mean, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" is always gonna be a crowd-pleaser, but it's not exactly pushing boundaries.

that being said, the music lineup looks solid 🎵 especially the Rodgers & Hammerstein stuff, which is basically classic American theatre at its finest. and of course, who doesn't love "White Christmas"? 🎄

still, can't help but wonder what kind of innovative shows they could be running instead... maybe something more experimental or cutting-edge? 🤔 just sayin'.
