I'm gonna say, Derrick Rose's jersey number 1 being retired by the Bulls is like, super overdue

. I mean, he won that MVP award in 2011, but we're only hearing about it now? It's been like, four seasons since he left the team and I'm still holding out hope for a Bulls resurgence

.
I think it's cool that his former teammates are coming back to celebrate him, though. Joakim Noah, Taj Gibson, Kirk Hinrich - they're all legends in their own right. But let's be real, Derrick Rose is the one who brought home that championship to Chicago

. Ayo Dosunmu said it best: "He gave the city hope." I don't think anyone can deny that.
The ceremony being held after the game against the Celtics is a nice touch. It's gonna be an emotional moment for all the Bulls fans, but also for Rose himself. Coach Billy Donovan called him an "incredible guy" and I think that sums it up pretty well

. This retirement ceremony is long overdue, but I'm hyped to see how it all goes down
