Campbell's fires executive who was recorded saying company's products are for 'poor people'

Campbell Soup Company Fires Executive Caught on Tape Making Racist Comments About Products and Customers

In a shocking move, Campbell's Co. has fired a vice president who made derogatory comments about the company's products and customers in a recorded conversation. Martin Bally, who worked in the information security department, was let go after Robert Garza, a former employee, reported his comments to a supervisor.

Garza had met with Bally in November 2024 to discuss his salary and claimed that Bally described Campbell's as "highly processed food" intended for "poor people." The conversation also allegedly included racist remarks about Indian workers, whom Bally referred to as "idiots." Furthermore, Bally said he often went to work high after consuming marijuana edibles.

Campbell's Co. confirmed the authenticity of Garza's claims after listening to portions of the recording and apologized for the hurtful comments. The company stated that the behavior was unacceptable and did not reflect its values or culture. "The comments were vulgar, offensive, and false," Campbell's said in a statement. "This behavior does not reflect our values and the culture of our company, and we will not tolerate that kind of language under any circumstances."

However, Campbell's Co. defended its food products, saying they come from trusted U.S. suppliers, are raised without antibiotics, and meet high quality standards. The company also disputed Bally's claims about their chicken, calling them "not only inaccurate but patently absurd."

Garza is seeking monetary damages from Campbell's Co., Bally, and his former manager, J.D. Aupperle.

OMG 🀯 that guy is like totally outta line 😱! I'm so glad they let him go ASAP πŸ’Ό the way he was talking about people and food is just gross 🚽 Campbell's Co. is right to stand up for what's important - treating everyone with respect & kindness ❀️ no excuse for racism or hate speech, ever! πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ on a more positive note, I'm all about trying out new recipes at home with my soup stockpiles πŸ˜„ and honestly, who doesn't love a good can of Campbell's? πŸ‘Œ

Come on! 1 exec gets canned for some sketchy comments & suddenly Campbell's whole rep is shot πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ? Like, what did these people expect from a conversation about racism? Don't be so sensitive! Bally just said the truth about who eats that stuff 🍜, and now everyone's like "oh no, he's a racist". Gotta keep things in perspective.

omg how did this even happen? like, i cant believe someone at campbell soup gets caught making racist comments about their own products customers and they just fire him over it lol sounds like a dream come true for everyone else who was offended. but seriously tho the company's stance on the food being "highly processed" is kinda weak considering all the ingredients and stuff that go into those cans. i mean, im not saying its an excuse or anything, but at least they're owning up to it and trying to make it right

can u believe this?? they just fired some dude who was literally spewing racist trash about the company's products and customers... like what were they thinking? they had to let him go after someone else caught him red-handed... i mean, i get that everyone has bad days or whatever, but come on, martin bally needs to take a long hard look at himself... and meanwhile, campbell's co. is all like "we're sorry" but what about the people who actually do eat their products?? shouldn't they be held accountable for perpetuating stereotypes and racism? πŸ€―πŸ‘Ž

😳 can you believe what happened at Campbell's? they fired this dude for making racist comments about their products & customers! πŸ‘Ž i mean, that's just not cool at all 🀒 and to make matters worse, he was talking trash about people from india πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ like who does that? anyway, it's good to see the company standing up for what's right and distancing themselves from this dude's behavior πŸ’―

omg what a mess 🀯 i dont think campbell soup should just fire the guy like that though... maybe they couldve had a chat with him about it first? i mean yeah the comments were super racist & unacceptable but i guess its good that the company is owning up to it now.

i also feel bad for robert garza who reported the dude and had to deal with all this drama πŸ€• cant imagine being in his shoes... hope he gets some justice tho πŸ’Έ

anyway just a random thought: maybe campbell soup should just get rid of the whole edibles thing on their website lol just saying πŸ˜‚

πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ People are more equal than others. ~ George Orwell

This whole thing just shows how messed up our society can get when people feel like they're above the law... or in this case, above common decency 😩. I mean, come on, who makes comments like that? It's not about Campbell's products being "highly processed food" for certain groups of people; it's about treating others with respect and basic human kindness 🀝. You can't just make racist remarks and claim to represent a company without facing the consequences 🚫.

It's interesting that Campbell's is trying to defend their product quality, but maybe they should focus on addressing the systemic issues that led to this kind of behavior in the first place πŸ’‘. The fact that Bally thought it was okay to go to work high after eating edibles just shows how out of touch he was with reality 🀣. Anyway, justice will be served... or so we hope 🀞

πŸ˜• just the thought of someone in a leadership role spewing such hate towards customers and colleagues... it's just not okay, you know? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ I mean, what kind of company lets this kind of behavior slide for so long? πŸ™„ The fact that they're defending their products and saying that Bally's comments are "not only inaccurate but patently absurd" just makes me shake my head... it sounds like they're more worried about saving face than taking responsibility for creating a toxic work environment. πŸ’” As someone who's been fortunate enough to have had some great experiences in my career, I can tell you that this kind of behavior is a huge red flag. 🚨 Companies need to prioritize respect and inclusivity over profits and power. ⏰

OMG, just saw this news and I'm SHOOK! Can't believe someone in such a powerful role would say such hurtful things about products and customers 😱. Like, what's next? Saying pizza is for "people who can't afford healthy food"? πŸ• Noooo, Campbell's got to stand up for itself and its amazing products, which are loved by so many people worldwide! 🌎 They're already doing the right thing by firing Bally and apologizing for the comments. Now they just need to take it a step further and show us all what those "high quality standards" really look like πŸ’―!

What a huge fail for Campbell's Co.! I'm like totally appalled by what Martin Bally said about the products and customers... Like, who says that stuff? 🀯 The company is all "high quality" but then you got people making racist comments behind closed doors? It's just so not cool. And what's with the whole "poor people" thing? That's just hurtful. Campbell's should be more serious about their diversity and inclusion efforts... I mean, they're already doing some good stuff by sourcing from US suppliers and all that, but this incident is a major bummer.

Ugh, this is so sad πŸ€•... I was watching old episodes of The Golden Girls with my grandma when Martin Bally would've probably been a bit of an outcast like Ross from Friends πŸ˜‚... Can you imagine if they made a sitcom about someone saying racist stuff in the workplace? It'd be like a 90s episode of Frasier 🀣. Anyway, Campbell's should've fired him before the recording got leaked... that's just basic common sense πŸ™„. I remember my mom used to buy those condensed soups all the time when we were kids... did they ever really taste that good? πŸ€”

πŸ€• need more ppl like this to speak up against toxic behavior in the workplace 🚫 can't let companies sweep stuff under the rug just 'cause it's a big brand πŸ‘€

man this just goes to show how important it is for big companies like campbell's to set a good example 🀝...i mean think about it they had a chance to really dig deep into what's wrong with the system and the food industry but instead of addressing that they're more worried about protecting their own skin πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. and now one guy gets fired and everyone else just shrugs, meanwhile there are still tons of people out there saying racist stuff like bally did... anyway i guess this is a step in the right direction for campbell's to be more mindful about how they portray themselves online πŸ“Š

Ugh, can you believe this? 😩 I mean, what kinda company fires someone for makin' racist comments about their own employees? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Like, I get it, it's not cool, but at least they're takin' responsibility and doin' somethin' about it. Firing the guy on the spot was a good move.

But let me ask, what kinda soup is Campbell's servin' up here? 😊 On one hand, they're all like "our products are healthy and made with high-quality ingredients" πŸ₯—... but then you find out some dude in their info sec department is makin' racist comments about the people who work for 'em and the customers who eat their soup. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ It's just weird, you know?

And what's up with Campbell's defendin' their chicken? πŸ— Like, come on guys, if you're gonna claim your chicken is all natural and antibiotic-free, then maybe don't make racist comments about the people who raise it or sell it to customers. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ It just doesn't add up.

Anyway, hope Garza gets some justice out of this deal... πŸ‘Š

This whole thing just got me all shook up πŸ’”. I mean, you hear of companies making mistakes before, but this one takes the cake 🍰. It's like, can't you even get that right? πŸ˜’ I'm not gonna lie, when I saw that tape go around, my jaw dropped too. Like, how could someone be so oblivious to what's going on and just spew all that hate? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

And the fact that they fired him, I don't know if it's a win or a loss for Campbell's Co., but at least they acknowledged their mistake. It shows they're trying to do better πŸ’•. But what really gets me is how some people still think that because you work in a certain industry, you get a free pass to be racist and ignorant 🀒. Newsflash: it doesn't work that way.

It's just crazy how one person can make all this drama 😩. I hope Garza gets the justice he deserves, but at the same time, I don't wanna see anyone else go through what he went through πŸ™.

OMG, can't believe this happened at a major food company like Campbell's Co. 🀯🍲 The fact that someone in a leadership position made those kinds of racist and hurtful comments is just unacceptable πŸ˜”. It's gotta be addressed ASAP! Companies have to set the tone from the top, you know? #JusticeForGarza #CampbellsCoDidBetter #RacismHasNoPlaceInBusiness πŸ’ΌπŸ‘Ž

OMG 😱 just found out about this! Like what even is going on? I'm all for accountability and holding people in power responsible for their actions, but at the same time... I feel bad for those Indian workers being referred to as "idiots". That's just cruel. πŸ€• And high after marijuana edibles? Like, that's not even a thing at work! πŸ˜‚ Anyway, glad Campbell's is stepping up and saying no to that kind of behavior, but I'm curious... are they doing enough to address the systemic issues that led to this guy making racist comments in the first place? πŸ’

omg i just saw the cutest video of a puppy that learned how to ride a bike πŸΆπŸ’¨ like 5 sec ago and now im thinking about how easy it would be for me to get into cycling if i had a puppy buddy to motivate me lol, or maybe ill just stick to taking my pup on long walks and enjoying the scenic views... anyway back to campbell's soup, idk why they're defending their products so much, cant they just admit that maybe one of their soups is for someone with gluten intolerance? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
