BBC to Air Champions League Highlights Until 2031, Say Goodbye to Paramount
The BBC has secured the rights to broadcast highlights of the men's Champions League until the end of the 2030-31 campaign. The deal is a four-year extension of their existing three-year contract with UEFA.
Under the new agreement, fans will be able to watch highlights from every Champions League game on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app starting at 22:00 on Wednesday evenings. There will also be a special Champions League Match of the Day program airing on BBC One from 22:40 to midnight.
The news comes as US media giant Paramount has won the rights to show Champions League matches in the UK for four years, starting from 2027. This means that Premier League and FA Cup coverage will remain exclusive to the BBC.
"We're delighted to be providing a free-to-air option for fans who want to see every goal and moment that matters," said Alex Kay-Jelski, director of BBC Sport. "This deal continues our game-changing football portfolio and ensures audiences can enjoy the very best coverage across all BBC platforms."
The Champions League highlights will complement the BBC's existing domestic football rights, which include Premier League highlights and live FA Cup coverage. The corporation's wider portfolio also includes coverage of major international events like the World Cups, Olympics, and Six Nations championships.

bbc is just raking it in with this new deal tho i mean who needs a decent stream quality when u can watch 2 min highlights from every match
