Sundance Film Festival Announces Star-Studded Lineup for 2026 Edition

The Sundance Film Festival has unveiled its stellar lineup for the 2026 edition, featuring a diverse array of films and talent from around the world. This year's festival will be held in Park City, Utah, before relocating to Boulder, Colorado, in 2027.

Charli XCX is set to take center stage with three film premieres at Sundance, including "The Moment", a mockumentary where she plays herself alongside Rachel Sennott, Alexander SkarsgΓ₯rd, Kate Berlant, and Kylie Jenner. The singer will also star in the dark comedy thriller "The Gallerist" opposite Natalie Portman.

Natalie Portman is part of a strong lineup, with her starring opposite Charli XCX in "The Gallerist". She will also be seen in the upcoming erotic thriller "I Want Your Sex", directed by Gregg Araki and co-starring Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman. Wilde will also make her directorial debut with the provocative date-night comedy "The Invite", which she stars alongside Seth Rogen, Edward Norton, and PenΓ©lope Cruz.

Author Salman Rushdie will head up a strong section of documentary premieres, including "Knife: The Attempted Murder of Salman Rushdie", directed by Alex Gibney. The film features unseen footage captured by the author's wife as he recovered from the 2022 attack on him.

Other notable films and talent include Olivia Colman in the offbeat romance "Wicker", Ethan Hawke in the 1930s drama "The Weight" opposite Russell Crowe, and Chris Pine in the competition film "Carousel". The festival will also see the premiere of Buddy, a new horror film about a young girl trapped in a kids' TV show.

In addition to these film premieres, Sundance has announced several documentaries featuring notable figures like Marianne Faithfull, Brittney Griner, Courtney Love, Nelson Mandela, Billie Jean King, and the Harlem Renaissance. Writer Ta-Nehisi Coates will also collaborate with director Dawn Porter on the wrongful conviction documentary "When A Witness Recants".

The festival will take place between January 22nd and February 1st, marking its final year in Park City before relocating to Boulder, Colorado, next year. As a way of celebrating its legacy, Sundance will hold a special screening of Robert Redford's film Downhill Racer and host several other events.
