I don't think this is a surprise at all
. I mean, Chelsea's squad is loaded with talent but they just haven't been clicking as a team. And it's not like Graham Potter didn't have a big target on his back after signing so many expensive players
. It was always going to be tough for him to get them to work together seamlessly. The fact that Todd Boehly and his team were too cautious with the recruitment process doesn't help either. I think Chelsea just got caught in between wanting to spend money on big-name signings and trying to build a more sustainable team. It's a classic case of "how do you balance being competitive with not breaking the bank?"
