Chrysler recalls more than 450,000 vehicles with trailer brakes that could fail

FCA US LLC, the parent company of Chrysler, is issuing a massive recall affecting over 450,000 vehicles due to a critical design flaw in their trailer tow modules. The affected models include the 2024-2026 Jeep Wagoneer S, Ram 1500 Pickup, and other variants through the Ram 5500 Cab Chassis.

According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue lies with improperly designed trailer tow modules that may not function correctly. This can lead to a failure of trailer brakes, which could result in accidents or loss of control while towing a trailer.

The NHTSA has issued a notice stating that Chrysler will replace the trailer tow module for free, and owners can expect to receive notification letters on March 24, 2026. In addition, FCA US LLC is also recalling certain Mopar tow trailer modules that share similar design flaws, with dealers set to replace them at no cost.

The agency emphasizes that this recall affects vehicles that have the trailer tow module installed, and if it's not present, owners will need to repurchase it from Chrysler. The replacement process is expected to be completed by a specific deadline yet to be announced.

As one of the largest automakers in the US, FCA US LLC has taken steps to address this critical safety issue, ensuring that its vehicles are safe for millions of drivers who may use them for towing purposes. However, the recall highlights the importance of manufacturers taking proactive measures to identify and rectify potential design flaws before they cause harm on the roads.

🚨 450k vehicles being recalled is crazy! like what's gonna happen if people don't replace that trailer tow module? 🀯 owners gotta be super careful when towing, can't just wing it anymore. FCA US LLC should really think about why this design flaw wasn't caught earlier... safety first, you know? πŸ™

πŸš—πŸ˜¬ 450k+ vehicles affected 🀯! Can't believe Chrysler is recalling so many models πŸ™„. Trailer tow modules seem like a pretty simple thing, but apparently, it's not 😐. Free replacement, though πŸ‘. Fingers crossed the process goes smoothly πŸ’¨. Safety first, that's always the best policy πŸ’―. Manufacturers gotta be on top of these things πŸ”. Glad they're addressing this ASAP ⏱️. Better safe than sorry πŸ™.

Ugh, this is just another example of how things were way better in the 90s when it came to car safety πŸ™„. I mean, think about it, back then we had much simpler trailer tow systems that didn't have all these fancy tech components that can fail. Nowadays it's like they're trying to cram too many features into one tiny module and forget about reliability πŸ”§. And now we've got 450k cars affected 🀯? That's just crazy! Free replacement, yeah good on Chrysler for that πŸ’―, but what really needs to change is how they design these things in the first place πŸ€”. We need more testing, more safety protocols... you know, like how Toyota used to do it back in the day πŸ™. This recall's a wake-up call for FCA US LLC and all the other big automakers out there 🚨.

πŸš—πŸ’‘ This recall is a good example of how manufacturers should be proactive about identifying and fixing issues before they become major problems. The fact that Chrysler is covering the cost of replacement for free is a step in the right direction. I hope they can get this process wrapped up quickly, so owners don't have to deal with any inconvenience for too long.

It's also worth noting that this recall affects vehicles with specific trailer tow modules, which might not be immediately noticeable to casual buyers. It just goes to show how complex modern vehicles can be, and how a small design flaw can have significant consequences.

The NHTSA is doing its job by keeping an eye on these types of issues, but it's ultimately up to the manufacturers to ensure their products are safe for consumers. I hope this recall serves as a wake-up call for other automakers to take extra precautions when designing and testing their vehicles. πŸš«πŸ’―

Ugh dont believe me 450k ppl r gonna get hit by this 😩, its just crazy how a simple trailer tow module can cause so much damage. i mean come on Chrysler shouldve caught this sooner like what if someone got hurt or worse? and now its costin the company millions to fix πŸ€‘ they need to do better than that. but at least its free for owners, thats some good news πŸ‘

I guess FCA US LLC is just trying to tow the line when it comes to safety πŸšπŸ˜… But seriously, who thought trailer tow modules could be a safety concern? It's like they say, if you're gonna hitch a ride, make sure it's a safe one! March 24th better be sooner than later for these owners, or they'll be in for a world of hurt πŸ€•. On the bright side, at least Chrysler is stepping up to replace those modules for free - I guess that's what I call towing the line (sorry, had to) πŸ’―

πŸš¨πŸ’‘ This recall is a harsh reminder that even with all the tech and safety features, our vehicles are only as good as their design πŸ€”. It's like, you know when you're about to leave for a trip, and you double-check everything just in case? That's what manufacturers need to be doing too - checking those critical systems before we get behind the wheel ⏰. The fact that they're taking responsibility and replacing it for free is awesome πŸ™Œ, but what's even more important is that this recall happened because someone noticed something was off in the first place πŸ”. It's a great lesson for all of us: stay vigilant, speak up if you notice something fishy, and demand better from those who design our daily rides πŸ’ͺ!

🚨😬 just heard about this massive recall on Chrysler's models... 450k+ vehicles are affected! can't believe a design flaw in trailer tow modules could put so many people at risk. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ gotta give credit to FCA US LLC for taking responsibility and offering free replacements, that's a big step towards ensuring public safety. but seriously, shouldn't manufacturers be more proactive about catching these issues before they hit the road? πŸ’‘ it's a wake-up call for everyone involved in the automotive industry to prioritize safety above all else πŸš—πŸ’―

omg can you believe this?! 450k+ vehicles at risk due to a design flaw in trailer tow modules 🚨😱 i mean its not like anyone expects a manufacturer to get it right on the first try, but still... Chrysler's taking responsibility and offering free repairs though, so that's a step in the right direction πŸ’―. what really gets me is how these things can happen - all those people who buy these cars thinking they're getting a reliable ride for towing purposes. safety should always be the top priority πŸš—πŸ’¨. hope the fix comes soon!

🚨 450k+ Vehicles at Risk? 🚨 I'm surprised it took FCA US LLC this long to issue a massive recall for trailer tow modules. It's like, you'd think they'd test these things more thoroughly before putting them in production... and honestly, it feels like we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg here. What other design flaws are lurking beneath the surface? And what about owners who already bought these vehicles without realizing the towing module was optional? That's a whole 'nother can of worms 🐜. Anyway, kudos to FCA for stepping up and fixing the issue, but let's hope this is just a one-off and not a sign of bigger problems... 😬

🚨 Trailer tow module recall is a huge bummer for Jeep & Ram owners. Glad Chrysler's stepping up to fix it for free tho 😊 450k vehicles are gonna get replaced, hope it doesn't cause any major headaches πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

🚨 I'm telling you, this recall is like, super overdue πŸ™„. I mean, come on FCA US LLC, how could you let this happen? Trailer tow modules are literally designed for safety, so it's crazy that this design flaw made it into production in the first place πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. And now we're talking about 450,000 vehicles, which is like, a huge number of people who are potentially at risk 😬. I'm glad they're doing a free replacement deal and all, but shouldn't they have caught this issue before? It's just common sense, you know? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Ugh I just got a notice from my husband's Jeep Wagoneer S that it's part of this huge recall 🀯! We were thinking of buying a new trailer to go with our camper, but now we're not sure if we should...I mean, how reliable can these things be? 😬 Can you imagine being on the road with your family and suddenly the brakes fail because of some design flaw? 🚨 Not exactly what I want to worry about. Hopefully they get this fixed ASAP so we can have peace of mind while towing our trailer. And why did it take them this long to figure out the problem? πŸ˜’

OH MY GOSH, THIS IS A BIG DEAL!!! 🚨πŸ’₯ I MEAN, 450,000 VEHICLES? THAT'S LIKE, A LOT OF PEOPLE ON THE ROAD! AND IT'S BECAUSE OF A DESIGN FLAW?! 🀯 THAT'S JUST NOT RIGHT. I FEEL FOR ALL THOSE OWNERS WHO HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS.

AND I THINK IT'S REALLY COOL THAT FCA US LLC IS TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT AND OFFERING FREE REPLACEMENTS. THAT'S LIKE, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING - SAFETY FIRST! πŸš—πŸ’ͺ

I ALSO THINK IT'S A GOOD LESSON FOR ALL THE OTHER CAR MANUFACTURERS OUT THERE. LIKE, IF YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE A PRODUCT, YOU BETTER BE SURE IT'S SAFE AND WORKS PROPERLY. NO ONE WANTS TO BE IN A SITUATION WHERE THEY COULD BE HURT DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW.

ANYWAY, I HOPE EVERYTHING GETS FIXED ASAP AND THESE OWNERS CAN GET BACK ON THE ROAD WITHOUT ANY ISSUES! πŸš—πŸ‘

I mean, what's up with those trailer tow modules?! 🀣 They must've been having a party in the design lab and forgot to invite safety πŸ˜‚. I'm not saying Chrysler is doing it on purpose, but seriously, how do you even test for something that affects millions of people? It's like trying to catch a greased pig at the county fair πŸ–. Anyway, good on them for taking responsibility and hooking up owners with free replacements – that's what I call towing the line (sorry, had to) πŸš—πŸ’¨
