CIA Director John Ratcliffe meets with Venezuela’s interim leader Delcy Rodriguez in Caracas

US intelligence chief travels to Venezuela, meets with interim leader amid post-Maduro transition

In a move that underscores the evolving dynamics in Caracas, CIA Director John Ratcliffe has met with Venezuela's interim leader Delcy Rodriguez in the capital city. The two-day visit came on the heels of the US military operation that ousted long-time dictator Nicolas Maduro, which marked a significant shift in the country's trajectory.

The meeting between Ratcliffe and Rodriguez was described as a "two-hour conversation" aimed at laying the groundwork for sustained communication and establishing trust-building measures. According to a US official, the CIA director sought to convey the message that the United States is eager to forge an improved working relationship with Venezuela.

At the heart of the discussion were two key areas: cooperation on intelligence and economic stability, as well as ensuring that Venezuela would no longer serve as a safe haven for America's adversaries. Specifically, Ratcliffe emphasized the need for Venezuela to crack down on support for drug trafficking organizations, including Tren de Aragua.

Trump's Endorsement

US President Donald Trump has expressed his enthusiasm for Rodriguez, labeling her a "terrific" person. On Truth Social, Trump indicated that the US is making progress in stabilizing and recovering Venezuela after two decades of socialist rule.

Rodriguez had previously sought to lead Venezuela after Maduro's ouster but faced resistance from the president. Machado, who presented Trump with her Nobel Peace Prize on Thursday, also expressed her aspirations for leading Venezuela but faces similar challenges.

The visit by Ratcliffe underscores the evolving landscape in Caracas as Venezuela begins its transition under a new leadership structure. As the US seeks to establish a more cooperative relationship with the interim government, it remains to be seen how effectively Rodriguez can address the country's pressing issues and build trust with Washington.

Wow 😮 Venezuela is like totally going through some big changes right now! Interesting 🤔 this development with the CIA director meeting with Delcy Rodriguez, hope they can work out some stuff on intel and economy... it's been a wild ride in Caracas for 2 decades 🌪️. Machado seems pretty cool, I guess? 🤷‍♀️ Trump endorsing her is wild too 🙄.

🌟 just read that the US intelligence chief met up with Delcy Rodriguez in Venezuela 🇻🇪... seems like things are slowly shifting in Caracas 🔄 after that crazy military op ousted Maduro 👊... what's cool is that Ratcliffe went in with an open mind, wants to build trust & cooperation 💡... now it's all about how well Rodriguez can tackle Venezuela's problems 🤔... and the fact that Trump endorsed her as a "terrific" person 😂... think this visit might just be the start of something beautiful 🌈

idk why us is always so eager 2 help venezuela lol they cant even run their own show 🤣 but i guess its good 4 usa 2 have a new face 2 deal w/ now that maduro is gone 🕊️ delcy rodriguez seems like she got spunk tho, gonna be interesting 2 see how she navigates the whole situation 👀 btw, trump endorsing her 2? lol what a joke 🤣

omg what's going on with venezuela?? 🤯 they're trying to transition away from Maduro and all these other people are vying for power 🔄 it's like a soap opera, but with guns and politics 💣 anyway i feel bad for delcy rodriguez, she seems like a great leader and trump is actually supporting her which is cool 😎 but at the same time, we gotta keep an eye on this because america has been trying to meddle in venezuela's affairs for ages 🤝 it's gonna be interesting to see how this all plays out 👀

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s kinda interesting that the US is sending its spy chief to meet with this new Venezuelan leader Delcy Rodriguez. Like, they want to build a rapport with her and stuff, which makes sense considering Venezuela has been super unstable for ages 🤯. And Trump's endorsement of her? That's wild, right? I mean, what's Trump got to gain from supporting some politician in Venezuela when his own policies have been pretty divisive at home? Anyway, it'll be fun to see how this whole thing plays out and whether the US can help Venezuela get back on its feet. Maybe they can even learn a thing or two about stability themselves 😅

🤔 I'm not sure what to make of this situation... It seems like the US is trying to play both sides here 🤝. On one hand, they're backing Delcy Rodriguez as the leader of Venezuela, which is cool, but on the other hand, they're also pressuring her to crack down on drug trafficking organizations 💸. I think it's a bit hypocritical, you know? The US has been dealing with their own issues with cartels and organized crime for years 🚫.

And what about the whole "safe haven" thing? Is Venezuela really just going to be a puppet state for the US now? 🤔 It seems like they're trying to exert control over the country's policies without actually getting involved in the day-to-day stuff 💸. I'm not sure how effective this approach is going to be, but it's definitely an interesting development 📊.

I do think it's good that Trump is endorsing Rodriguez and recognizing the progress being made in Venezuela 👏. Maybe this is a step towards a more stable and prosperous future for the country 🌞. But we'll just have to wait and see how things play out 💭.

🤔 so like this is crazy right? US intel chief just met with Venezuela interim leader Delcy Rodriguez and it's all about building trust and cooperation... 🕺 but what's really going on here? Like, Trump just endorsed her and now she's all about getting a Nobel Peace Prize 😅. But seriously, how long can she last in this role? Maduro's ouster was big news and now Venezuela is trying to figure out its new vibe 💁‍♀️. I mean, the US wants to help with intel and economic stuff but they also don't want Venezuela to be a haven for bad guys 🤝. It's all about finding that balance... 🤔

Ugh, another high-profile visit by a US official just clogs up my feed 🙄. I mean, what's the point of all these back-and-forth meetings between governments? Just a lot of empty promises and politicking if you ask me 🤷‍♂️. And don't even get me started on Trump's endorsement for Rodriguez - like, come on, man, can't he just keep his opinions to himself? 🙄

And what really gets my goat is that we're talking about a country still reeling from its own internal struggles and power vacuum. The US should be focusing on supporting the Venezuelan people, not trying to manipulate the new government for their own interests 💸. I swear, sometimes it feels like they think they can just swoop in and fix everything with a few meetings and some tweets 🚀.

Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that these kinds of visits just add to the noise and don't really achieve anything meaningful 🗣️. Can we please just focus on actual solutions for Venezuela instead of all this spin and diplomacy? 💔

I'm low-key impressed by Delcy Rodriguez's game face. She's got some major weight on her shoulders, trying to lead Venezuela after all that drama with Maduro. I think it's awesome she met up with John Ratcliffe - their convo was super important for both sides. We'll see how things play out now. One thing is for sure though, Venezuela needs a solid plan in place ASAP or else economic stability will be a real challenge 🤔💼

I'm not sure if this is a good idea... 🤔 the US just wants to get their hands dirty in Venezuela, I mean, who does they think they are? The guy just got ousted and now they're trying to fill the power vacuum? It's like they're thinking of themselves as some kind of interventionist superpower or something. And Rodriguez thinks she can just waltz into this role without any experience? I'm not convinced... 🚨

🤔 you know what's wild? I was watching this old video of a cat playing the piano on YouTube and I swear that cat has more talent than some politicians 🐱😹. anyway, Venezuela is still dealing with so many issues and it'll be interesting to see how Rodriguez handles everything 👀. did you know that there's a new board game that's kinda like Risk but instead of countries, you're trying to collect all the pixels on your screen? sounds weird I know 🤪

😊 So the US is trying to get all cozy with this new leader in Venezuela... 🤝🏽 It's pretty interesting that Trump is giving her his seal of approval - I wonder if he's actually seen the state of the country before or not? 😂 Either way, it'll be fascinating to see how she navigates the challenges ahead and builds a relationship with the US. The fact that they're focusing on intel cooperation and fighting against drug trafficking organizations is a good sign... but we've heard that before from many other countries too 🤔 Still, you gotta admire her spunk for trying to lead Venezuela after all the drama 😊

I'm seeing this whole situation with Venezuela like, really complicated 🤯. I mean, we gotta think about all the players involved - US, Maduro, Trump, Machado... it's like a big web 🕸️. But what if Rodriguez is for real about changing things? Like, making Venezuela not so toxic for the world anymore 🌎? That would be awesome! And Trump's endorsement of her is actually kinda cool, I guess 💯. Maybe this is the start of something good. We'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out 👀.
