Cubs’ Nico Hoerner Breaks Silence On Trade Reports

Chicago Cubs' Nico Hoerner Breaks Silence on Trade Rumors

The Chicago Cubs' latest move has raised eyebrows among fans: signing Alex Bregman to a five-year deal that will presumably cement him as the team's third baseman. But amidst this new arrival, rumors surrounding second baseman Nico Hoerner have only intensified.

Reports of trade talks involving Hoerner continued in the wake of Bregman's acquisition, fueling speculation about what the future holds for the young infielder. According to Sahadev Sharma, a Cubs insider, "there are no indications that the Cubs are looking to move Hoerner, but other teams have come calling." This stance suggests that while the team hasn't ruled out exploring trade options, they're likely to prioritize keeping Hoerner on their roster.

However, with Bregman now firmly entrenched as part of the infield, questions about potential trades become more pressing. The Chicago Cubs' decision-making process and willingness to part ways with Hoerner remain uncertain.

In a recent press conference at Wrigley Field, Cubs president Jed Hoyer praised the veteran infielder, suggesting that his addition has strengthened the team's lineup.

Nico Hoerner himself addressed trade rumors during the team's fan convention, stating that they're largely driven by him being a free agent after this season. When asked about potential extension talks with the Cubs, neither he nor team president Jed Hoyer offered any insight into their negotiations.

As spring training approaches and the Cubs' infield dynamic solidifies, it seems increasingly likely that Nico Hoerner will remain part of the team. This could lead to Matt Shaw being reassigned or traded, potentially altering his role on the roster.

With Alex Bregman taking over at third base, the question arises: where might Matt Shaw fit into the lineup? Will he be relegated to a part-time outfield spot, or perhaps sent back to the minors? The Cubs' decision-making process regarding Hoerner and their infield strategy will likely influence any potential moves involving Shaw.

For now, it seems that Nico Hoerner is taking his uncertain future in stride. But as the trade rumors swirl around him, one thing is clear: his position within the Chicago Cubs organization remains a subject of intense speculation.

omg i'm so hyped for Nico Hoerner's future 🤩! but at the same time i'm also kinda worried cuz when Alex Bregman joined the team all those trade rumors came back to life 😬. i mean what if Nico gets traded?? that would be so sad 😔. i need more info on this situation ASAP 🤯 i was really hoping he'd stay put tho, i loved his gameplay last season 💥. now matt shaw's future is looking all uncertain too 🤔. i hope the Cubs know what they're doing with these trades 💪.

🤔 I'm low-key surprised the Cubs didn't go all-in on keeping Hoerner. Bregman's addition does change things but if they're not willing to trade him it could be 'cause he's a free agent or they want to keep him around for long-term. Either way, Shaw being reassigned or traded is a possibility and that'd be interesting to see unfold. Maybe they see him as someone who can contribute in other ways? 🤷‍♂️

🤔 I gotta say, I'm kinda impressed by how down-to-earth Nico Hoerner seems to be about this whole trade rumor situation 🙏... like he's just chillin', focusing on his game, and letting the rumors fly around him without getting too worked up 💪. And can we talk about how cool it is that he's being open with fans at events? 💬 That kinda thing makes a fan feel seen and appreciated 🤗. Anyway, hope the Cubs keep Nico happy... they could use some stability in their lineup right now 😐

omg i just found out about this new alex bregman deal 🤯 and now i'm wondering if nico hoerner will get traded 🚫😬 i mean i kinda like matt shaw he's been doing alright in the minors, but at the same time, alex bregman is a beast 😂 so i guess we'll just have to wait and see what jed hoyer has up his sleeve 🤔 i'm also kinda confused about why they're not talking more about extension talks with hoerner tho 🤷‍♀️ maybe he's just trying to play it cool? 🙃

I'm thinkin' the team's all over the place with their infield moves 🤔👀. One minute they're keepin' Nico Hoerner, next it's tradin' him out for some cash 🤑. I mean, Bregman's a great player and all, but what about Shaw? Is he gonna be stuck on the bench or get sent down to the minors? And honestly, can't we just see how things shake out in spring training before makin' any big decisions? The uncertainty is kinda suffocatin' 🤯. I guess time will tell if they're all gonna work together in harmony or if we'll be seein' some major lineup changes 💥

omg did u no the cubs r trying to get rid of hoerner already 🤯 i mean alex bregman just signed 2 a 5yr deal so it's weird 4 them 2 try 2 move him 2o

idk why cubs are so weird with nico hoerner 🤷‍♂️ they got bregman now and all of a sudden hoerner's not good enough? i think he's still their guy, but if they're gonna move him, it'll be to get something for shaw, you feel me? cubs need to decide what they want ASAP, else it's just gonna be a mess ⚾

ugh I'm so confused about this trade situation with the cubs 🤯 ... I mean I get it, they're trying to strengthen their lineup but Nico Hoerner seems like such a great asset 🤑... i guess it's true what they say, rumors can drive you crazy 😬. The thing that bothers me is that the cubs are being kinda shady about it all 💁‍♀️. Jed Hoyer praises Bregman but doesn't give us much info on Hoerner's future 🤔... and Nico himself just says he's free agent-izing after this season? 🕰️... it's all so unclear 😓

🤔 I think the Cubs need to be patient with Nico Hoerner, you know? He's still young and has so much potential 🌱. Trading him now just 'cause some other teams are interested doesn't make sense to me. They should focus on getting him locked down for the long term 💯. And what about Matt Shaw? I'm curious to see how he'll adapt to a new role, but it's also possible that the team will find a way to make it work 👍. The Cubs have made some good moves lately, so I trust their decision-making process 🙏.

.. I don't know about Nico Hoerner... like, what even is a trade rumor anymore? Is it just about making moves to impress fans or are we talking about actual player development here? 🤔 And then there's this thing with Alex Bregman and how he's gonna fit into the lineup... it's all very 'what's next?' for me. I guess what I'm trying to say is, let's not forget that Nico Hoerner is still a young player trying to figure out his own worth on the field. Shouldn't we be supporting him through this uncertainty instead of constantly speculating about where he'll end up? 🤷
