Deal For TikTok’s U.S. Operations Finalized By U.S. And China

US and China Finalize Deal to Save TikTok's US Operations, App Will Remain in the Country

A high-stakes deal between the US and Chinese governments has brought an end to the uncertainty surrounding the future of social media app TikTok in the United States. The agreement allows for a group of Trump-approved investors, including tech giant Oracle, private equity firm Silver Lake, and Abu Dhabi-based investment firm MGX, to take control of TikTok's US operations.

As part of the deal, each investor will hold a 15% stake in the company, with Oracle managing TikTok's US user data. The new entity, known as the TikTok USDS Joint Venture, will operate independently and be governed by a seven-member board of directors.

The joint venture has also announced plans to retrain, test, and update TikTok's content recommendation algorithm, a move aimed at alleviating concerns over data protection and user privacy. Adam Presser, the head of operations and trust and safety at TikTok, will serve as the chief executive of the US business.

The deal marks a significant relief for TikTok, which had faced a 14-hour blackout in the US early last year before President Donald Trump intervened with an executive order extending the deadline for a deal. Former President Joe Biden signed a bill in April requiring ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, to sell its US operations to an American-approved buyer or face a ban.

Trump hailed the agreement as a success, saying he was "happy to have helped" and thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping for his decision. The deal is seen as a major victory for Trump, who had been pushing for a resolution on TikTok's US operations for months.

I gotta say, this whole thing with TikTok just crazy 🤯. Like, I'm glad it all got sorted out and the app isn't shut down or anything. But at the same time, I mean, how did we even get to this point? 🤔 It's like, one day it's a popular app, next day you're wondering if it's gonna disappear from your feed forever 😂. And now we've got some big investors taking over and stuff...it just feels weird. But hey, at least the data thing is being looked into so that sounds good 💯. I guess what I'm saying is, I just wanna know what happened behind all those scenes 🤫.

😂 so tiktok's gonna be cool again in the us, guess that means all you teens will have to stop using it and go play outside or something 🤣 seriously though, who would've thought trump would end up helping save tiktok? he's always talking about how much he hates china but i guess even he can't resist a good business deal 💸 anyway, now we just gotta wait and see if oracle really is gonna keep our user data safe from the chinese government 🤔

🤔 I'm kinda surprised that the US and China were able to come together like this about TikTok. I mean, it's still gonna be a Chinese company at heart but it's good they're being all chill about the data thing... sorta. It feels like a lot of lip service is going into these 'retraining and updating' plans 🤓 and we'll just have to wait and see how that all plays out. On the one hand, I'm glad no one lost their jobs or anything 🙏 but on the other hand, it's still a weird situation... Oracle's in charge of user data now? 🤖

I'm so stoked 🤩 that this deal went down! I mean, can you believe we're gonna have TikTok back in the US with Oracle at the helm? 🙌 It's crazy to think about how far we've come since Trump was all up in arms about it. I remember when he blocked the app like 2 years ago and everyone was freaking out 😱. But now, it's all good vibes! 💖 The fact that Adam Presser is still leading the US business means there won't be any major changes to the platform we love 🤣. And the new joint venture is giving us some sweet updates to the content recs algorithm - about time, right? 😉

🤔 I'm kinda relieved that this whole thing didn't go down in flames 🚫... I mean, think about it - a social media app with 1 billion+ users and millions of those are in the States 🌎... what if there was no TikTok US? 😱 That'd be a major loss for creators and users alike 💔. But at the same time, I'm curious to see how this joint venture thing works out 🤝 - does Oracle's handling of user data really alleviate those concerns or are we just trading one set of issues for another 🔁? And what about all the other countries TikTok operates in... how'll they be affected by this deal? 🌎👀

OMG, like what just happened? So finally TikTok's future in the US is sorted out 🤩. I was worried that app would be forced to leave our shores or worse, get shut down altogether 😱. But now it's gonna remain here and even get some updates to its algorithm so users can rest easy about their personal info being protected 💻.

The fact that Oracle gets to handle the user data is a bit weird though 🤔. I mean, I trust them, but still... And did we really need a joint venture to save TikTok? Just wondering why they didn't just make a deal between the two governments and be done with it 😕. Anyway, glad no one's losing their job or business, so that's a win! 👍

I don't get it... 🤔 TikTok is still gonna be owned by a bunch of rich guys in the US and China... like what's the diff? 🤑 They're just gonna make more money off our data and keep showing us ads... 📺 The content algo thingy won't even fix the issue, imo. It's all about profit over people... 😒 I'm still on the fence about TikTok, to be honest.

OMG 🤯 this just happened in 2025! So like I was worried about my favorite app TikTok being banned in the US and now it's all sorted out 🙌. The new joint venture is going to keep the app running smoothly and with a fresh new algorithm, yay 💻. But what I'm most relieved about is that our data is gonna be safe 🛡️. It's great that they're having a group of big investors like Oracle and Silver Lake take control, sounds legit 👍. And Adam Presser from TikTok is taking the helm as CEO, cool dude 😎. Trump even got in on this deal which is wild 🤪. Biden signed that bill last year and now everyone's happy 💕. All good vibes here 🌈!

man i feel like tiktok saved its own life lol 14 hours without data just crazy 🤯 now oracle gotta handle all the user info tho might be a problem if they get hacked 🚨 hope adam presser can keep everything under control 👍

I gotta say, this deal is a big win for TikTok 🙌! I was really worried that the app would get shut down in the US or worse, become a puppet of the government 🤖. But it looks like Oracle and the other investors are committed to keeping TikTok's creative vibe alive 💻. I mean, can you imagine a world without those crazy dance challenges? 😂 The fact that they're retraining their algorithm is also a big plus - I've noticed my For You page getting way more personalized lately 🤔. And hey, Adam Presser as the head of operations is a great choice - he's got that whole trust and safety thing down pat 🙏. Overall, this deal is all good vibes for TikTok users 👍!

just hope this deal doesn't lead to more of the same with other tech giants 🤞, like what happened with Huawei last year... anyway, it's gonna be interesting to see how oracle handles tiktok's user data 🤔, and i'm curious about the retraining plans for the content rec algorithm 💻, guess we'll have to wait and see if they can actually make tiktok more user-friendly and private in the us 🤗

Ugh, this is just great 🙄. A group of investors, including Oracle (which is like, super paranoid about data security), are taking control of TikTok's US ops... what could possibly go wrong? 😒 They're gonna mess with the algorithm to make it more "user-friendly", code for "we're gonna collect even more of your personal info". And Adam Presser, who just happens to be in charge, has a ton of experience with trust and safety - yeah right, like that's gonna save us from TikTok's PR machine. 🤦‍♀️ The whole thing feels super sketchy to me...

This is just another example of big business getting away with things 🤑. Think about it, the US government basically gave Oracle, Silver Lake and MGX a free pass to take over TikTok's user data 🤫. And what's the real reason they're doing this? It's not like they care about protecting users' privacy or anything 💸. They just want to keep their fingers in the pie and make some easy cash 💳. And don't even get me started on Xi Jinping, he's probably behind it all 🕵️‍♂️. I mean, why would China just give up its interests in the US without a fight? There's gotta be more to this story than meets the eye 🔍...

lol what a wild ride this has been I mean its crazy that we're just gonna let the US government pick the new owners of tiktok but at least oracle is handling the data so thats a win for us lol and i gotta say Adam Presser seems like a solid choice to lead the US operation he got some legit credentials under his belt 👍 but seriously though what's next for tiktok? are they gonna keep changing their algorithm or is that just a temporary fix? anyway, glad this deal went down no more 14-hour blackouts yay 😊

man, i'm kinda torn about this whole thing 😐. on one hand, it's awesome that tiktok's gonna stay in the us and we won't have to say goodbye to our fave app 🤗. but at the same time, i'm a little worried about oracle taking control of our user data 🤔. i mean, don't get me wrong, they're not the bad guys or anything 😊, but it's still kinda unsettling to think about our personal info being handled by a big corp like that 💸.

and what's up with this whole 'retraining and testing' thing? is tiktok really gonna be able to fix its content recs algorithm now? 🤷‍♂️ idk man, i'm just keeping an eye on it for now 😊. at least we can all breathe a sigh of relief that the drama's over for now 👍

idk why they're making such a big deal outta this... i mean, it's just another social media app that everyone's obsessed with 🤷‍♂️. like, china and the us were gonna let tiktok die or something? that's wild. so now oracle gets to hold all their user data? umm, isn't that kinda sketchy? 😕 i mean, what if they mess it up? who's gonna be accountable then? also, why are we even talking about this? like, tiktok's just an app. can we move on to something else already 🤦‍♂️. and btw, trump thinks he's a hero for "helping" with this deal? lol what a joke 👎

Ugh, this just feels like another example of how the big players get to buy their way out of trouble 🤑. I mean, come on, Oracle gets to manage all that user data? That's some serious power right there 💻. And what about the rest of us? Do we really want to be giving our personal info to a bunch of investors who have no business dealing with it? 🤔

And don't even get me started on the fact that this deal is basically a slap in the face to Trump's previous demands for TikTok to sell its US operations outright 💸. I guess he just wanted to be able to say he "helped" and look good for the cameras 📺. Meanwhile, we're just left with a bunch of unclear rules and regulations that are going to affect us in the long run... not cool 😒

🙌 finally some good news about tiktok! i mean, it's about time we got some clarity on this whole mess 🤯. like, 14 hour blackout in the us? that's crazy talk 😱. and all those conspiracy theories flying around? ugh, can we just get to the bottom of things already? 🙄. seriously though, having oracle manage tiktok's us data is a major relief, i guess. at least they'll be handling it properly now. but what about user privacy tho? can't say for sure yet 🤷‍♀️. still hopeful that this joint venture will get it right 👍. btw, wonder how adam presser is gonna do as ceo of the us business 🤔.
