Denmark's Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, has urged US President Donald Trump to "stop the threats" of annexing Greenland. The call comes after public comments from Trump and his adviser Stephen Miller drew international attention.
Frederiksen said it makes no sense for the US to take over Greenland as the country is not an object of superpower rhetoric but a democracy with its own identity. Greenland, which has been part of the Danish Kingdom since the 18th century, has granted home rule in 1979 and is currently a member of NATO, thus benefiting from the alliance's security guarantee.
Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen added that Denmark and Greenland are open to conversations but need "the right channels" and respect for international law. Nielsen specifically noted the importance of not resorting to "disrespectful posts on social media" as a means of communication.

I think it's pretty crazy how much attention is being focused on Greenland right now. Like, seriously, who knew there was even a chance of the US taking over? 
It seems like Trump just wants to stir up some drama and see what happens. But come on, can't he just chill for once? 
The thing is, Greenland is actually doing pretty well as its own country, with Denmark being super supportive through home rule and NATO membership. So, why do they need the US at all? 
It's also kinda fishy that Trump's advisor is saying some pretty harsh stuff on social media... like, hello, respectful dialogue is key! 
Anyways, I think it's time for Denmark to just say "no thanks" and tell the US to back off.
. I mean, can you imagine if someone just started threatening to take over your house or something? You'd freak out, right? It's like, no country can be taken by another, you know? And Greenland has its own identity and democracy going on, they're not some weak little island that can be bullied into submission 
. I don't think it makes sense for the US to even consider annexing them, let alone start making threats 
. Can't we all just get along and respect each other's sovereignty? 
!! i mean, i get why denmark is mad but come on, grenland has its own gov and identity and we shouldn't just be taken over because of where it's located 
. we gotta respect international law and stuff like that. and btw, social media posts shouldn't be used to threaten people

I mean, think about it - Greenland's like, totally cool with being its own thing, having its own government and all, and the US is trying to muscle in? It's like a big game of "space" where everyone's just trying to figure out who gets to be in charge. And Denmark's all, "Hey, we've got this, mate!" 
And Jens-Frederik Nielsen's right on point about social media being a thing - I mean, can't we all just chill and talk like civilized humans? 
It's actually kinda refreshing to see the Danes and Greenlanders standing up for themselves without getting all worked up. Maybe this'll be a great opportunity for some international diplomacy and whatnot... who knows?
