Dick Cheney remembered at funeral as having "devotion to America" over party

Dick Cheney's Devotion to America Over Party Shines at His Farewell

The former US Vice President Dick Cheney was laid to rest in a moving funeral, with his cardiologist and friend Dr. Jonathan Reiner delivering an emotional eulogy. The 67-year-old had been battling heart disease for decades, suffering his first attack during his early days as a congressman.

Reiner recalled that at the time of Cheney's initial heart issue, his doctors advised him to step down from the campaign trail, but no one dared to tell the determined politician. This anecdote gave way to Reiner's witty remark about not having done funerals often – a sentiment echoed by those who knew Cheney best.

The 9/11 attacks marked another pivotal moment in Cheney's life, as he underwent blood tests that revealed alarmingly high levels of potassium. Instead of cancelling plans, however, the Vice President defied fate, declaring "Not today." This unwavering resolve spoke to Reiner about Cheney's unshakeable spirit.

Cheney's calm demeanor remained steadfast even in his final days, as reported by those who witnessed him in hospital. According to Reiner, he would often say that he was prepared for the end and never looked back. His heart transplant – a life-saving gift from an anonymous donor – ultimately allowed him to watch over his grandchildren grow into young adults.

Cheney's legacy has been one of unwavering dedication to country, despite the criticism he faced during his tenure. Reiner summed up his friend's devotion, saying "He never looked over his shoulder; he only looked ahead." This vision for a better America – unyielding and steadfast – will be deeply missed by those who knew him best.

omg i just saw this funeral video on youtube 🤯 dick cheney was so brave during 9/11 attacks I wish i could have met him he sounded like a really nice guy but did anyone know about his heart problems before the 9/11 attacks? 🤔 and why did he get a new heart from a stranger? that's crazy 💖

I'm still getting used to seeing people like Dick Cheney being laid to rest... it feels like just yesterday I was hearing about Clinton's presidency 🙃... anyway, I guess that's how time works. It's crazy to think about how much he went through during his life, especially with the 9/11 attacks and all that. I mean, the guy really did have a lot of guts (or maybe stubbornness?) to keep going despite all those health issues... but in the end, it was worth it, right? He always seemed like someone who put America first, even when people weren't being super kind to him. That's actually kinda admirable, you know?

man, dick cheney was a total legend 🙌 i mean, the guy went from being a congressman to VP without even thinking about his health issues first 💪 and then he's dealing with 9/11 and still managing to keep it together? mind blown! i love how dr. reiner called him out for not stepping down during that initial heart issue tho - talk about dedication 🤦‍♂️

and can we talk about the fact that cheney got a heart transplant from an anonymous donor? what a beautiful gift 💕 it's moments like these that remind us of the kindness in this world. anyhoo, i'm definitely gonna miss dick cheney - his unwavering dedication to america is something we could all learn from 🇺🇸

btw, has anyone seen those new augmented reality contact lenses? they're supposed to be a game-changer for funeral eulogies 👓💻

🤦‍♂️ I mean, can we talk about this "devotion" thing? Is it really that impressive to prioritize country over party? Like, what's the real cost of that devotion? 🤑 Dick Cheney was a polarizing figure and this eulogy is just trying to spin his legacy into something more palatable than it actually is. And let's be real, a heart transplant from an anonymous donor doesn't exactly scream "selfless dedication"... 😏

just saw this about dick cheney... feels like he was just doing what was right for america no matter the party affiliations 🙏 my grandma always said that politicians are people too, not just figures on tv. sounds to me like dick cheney lived by those words. his story is a reminder that being true to yourself and your values takes guts. hope more ppl learn from his example 🤝

omg i just found out about dick cheney passing away 🤕😔 i have no idea who he was but it sounds like he was super dedicated to america? did he used to be the president or something? 🤷‍♀️ also what's with all these "not today"s i'm trying to find the context of that in my browser history lol can someone explain to me what a cardiologist is? 💊 i just know they're like doctors who fix hearts right? and why did he get heart disease if he was so healthy all his life? 🤔

I feel so bad for the guy, you know? He went through so much with that heart disease and still managed to keep going like a boss 😔. And can we talk about his resolve after 9/11? I mean, the dude was like "Not today" 💪, which is just incredible given what he was dealing with. It's clear that party politics never really took over his love for America - it's actually pretty inspiring 🙌.

oh my gosh 🤯 Dick Cheney's farewell was soooo moving! I mean, can you believe the guy was still going strong despite all that heart drama 💔? His cardiologist friend Dr. Reiner is literally his favorite person to speak about - so witty and heartfelt! And those 9/11 potassium levels? insane 😲 Not giving up on life? more like living it to the fullest, amirite?

i love how he took a life-saving heart transplant from an anonymous donor 🙏, just to watch over his fam. That's some real hero stuff right there 💪. And that "Not today" attitude? so relatable 🤣 Not many people can say they've defied fate at 67! Anyway, I'm glad we got to see a little bit of Dick Cheney's heart (literally) and know that he was always putting America first ❤️.

I'm still trying to process the passing of Dick Cheney 🙏🕊️. It's crazy to think about how far he came, from being diagnosed with heart disease in Congress to becoming one of the most divisive figures in American politics 💔. I gotta give credit where credit is due tho - his commitment to this country is admirable, no matter what people thought about him 🙌. The fact that he remained true to himself and didn't let fear dictate his actions speaks volumes about his character 💪. And let's not forget that heart transplant – it's just amazing that an anonymous donor was willing to give the gift of life ❤️. He may not be here, but his legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him 💕.
