Do women love "Heated Rivalry" too much?

I think its kinda wild how straight women are vibin' with this show so hard 🤯. I mean, the arguments about fetishization and toxic stereotypes are valid, but at the same time, it's like we're not being taught enough about consent in school or somethin' 😅. The creators did a good job of makin' it more nuanced, especially when they subverted expectations like in that dance scene 🔥. It's all about context, right? Some people might be straight women who are just interested in the romance and not necessarily the gay aspect, while others... well, we can't make assumptions 🤷‍♀️. What I'm sayin' is that it's a complex issue, but also kinda refreshing to see a show tackle masculinity and desire in such a thoughtful way 💬.

🐱💬 I'm actually kinda weirded out by how passionate people are about this show... like, straight women defending the show against criticism from gay fans? It feels like a debate that's more about who gets to claim ownership of "I love this show!" rather than having an actual discussion about representation. 🤔 And then there's Jason P. Frank getting roasted for talking about his views on the show... isn't that just good old-fashioned free speech? 🙅‍♂️ Can we not get caught up in trying to police who gets to have opinions about a TV show? 💭

I think its kinda wild how much controversy this show has sparked, especially among straight women 🤔💁‍♀️. I mean, I've seen some of those comments online and they're... interesting 😂. Some people are like "no, no, no we love gay men for who they are" while others are more like "hey, a little eye candy never hurt anyone". Idk what to think, but maybe thats the point? The show is trying to make us uncomfortable, like we need to question our own biases and stuff 🤯.

And can we talk about how much I love the way the creator, Jacob Tierney, handled the criticism? Like, he didn't just ignore it or shut down the haters. He listened to their concerns and adapted the show to be more inclusive. That's some real leadership right there 👏.

The show itself is still pretty steamy, but I think thats what draws people in (me included 😉). The romance between Shane and Ilya is so swoon-worthy, even if its a bit problematic at times. Maybe that's why straight women are drawn to it? We get to see this beautiful, vulnerable side of masculinity that we don't often see in media?

Anyway, I'm curious to hear what you guys think 🤔. Are "Heated Rivalry" fans just objectifying gay men for the sake of entertainment, or do they have a legitimate connection to the show? Let's discuss! 💬

I'm all for the straight women defending this show against criticism 🙄. Like, if they can see past the gay male characters being objectified, then more power to them 💁‍♀️. And honestly, I think it's time we stopped policing every single aspect of representation in media - sometimes a little bit of complexity and nuance is just what we need 🤷‍♂️. The show's creator, Jacob Tierney, is doing something real with this series by subverting expectations and pushing back against toxic masculinity - kudos to him 👏. And let's not forget, the male gaze thing is actually kind of brilliant in that pivotal scene where Shane and Ilya are watching each other dance 🕺... it's all about challenging those expectations, right?
