Eagles DC Vic Fangio confirms S Marcus Epps in line to start Monday night vs. Chargers

Vic Fangio Drops Bombshell on Marcus Epps' Starting Spot Against Chargers

Veteran safety Marcus Epps is now firmly in the starting lineup for Monday night's game against the Chargers, according to defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. When asked if Epps would be ready to start by Monday, Fangio replied "yes" to both questions.

This news comes after a 21-day practice window that saw Epps make strides in his recovery from an undisclosed injury. During this time, Fangio stated he needs to "get a feel and barometer" of where Epps is at before making a decision on reactivating him onto the 53-man roster.

Before going down with the injury, Epps was third in line for safety minutes behind rookie Andrew Mukuba and veteran Sydney Brown. However, with Mukuba currently out injured, Brown took over as starter, leading to some mixed results.

Fangio acknowledged that Brown played "a lot like the rest of us – some good, some bad" during his first start this season. Meanwhile, Fangio also hinted at a lingering issue with defensive tackle Jalen Carter's shoulder injury, which has been bothering him since training camp.

When asked about the need for snap-count changes to alleviate Carter's issues, Fangio remained cryptic, saying "we'll see how it goes." The Eagles' top lineman played more than 80% of snaps despite still battling through the injury.

I don't get why Fangio is being so cagey about Carter's shoulder injury πŸ€”. If he was that bad, wouldn't Epps just come back in and play? I mean, we all know Epps has some skills, right? 🀞 And what's up with Brown playing like the rest of us - some good, some bad? πŸ˜‚ Fangio needs to give us something concrete about his game plan. Maybe he's just trying to keep Carter hidden until the injury is worse? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

omg I'm so hyped for Monday night! Marcus Epps finally getting his starting spot back is lit πŸŽ‰πŸ”₯. I was low-key worried after that first start from Sydney Brown, but Fangio's confidence in Epps makes sense considering how far he's come in 21 days 🀯. Now it's time to get this defense firing on all cylinders and put up some serious points against the Chargers πŸ’ͺ!

πŸ€” "The best way to guarantee a loss is to quit." I'm worried about Jalen Carter's shoulder injury... πŸ€• It's not just about him, but also about the team's overall performance on defense. If they can't get it together, they'll be in for a long night against the Chargers 🏈πŸ’ͺ

Meh, can't say I'm surprised lol πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Epps is a solid safety and he deserves a shot at the starting lineup. It's about time someone else takes over for Brown too. 😊 The coaching staff just needs to figure out how to get their O-line sorted out, Carter's injury has been an issue since camp. Snap-count changes might help, but it's all about the execution now πŸ€”.

omg u guys gotta wonder whats goin on with Jalen Carter's shoulder injury πŸ€•πŸˆ is he even good to play? Vic Fangio be all secretive about it lol, cant wait to see how things unfold mon πŸ’‘

I'm kinda surprised Vic Fangio is sticking with Marcus Epps in the starting lineup, I mean Epps has been out for a bit and we're only getting this info now... πŸ€” Still, I guess it's good to have him back on the field, especially since Andrew Mukuba's out. Brown played okay in his first start, but let's see how Epps holds up against the Chargers. I'm also a little curious about Jalen Carter's shoulder injury, still not sure if he's fully recovered... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ€” I think it's a bit surprising that Marcus Epps is now definitely starting against the Chargers after not being expected to be ready by Monday πŸ•°οΈ. Like, what changed during those 21 days of practice? Did he just magically recover from his injury or what? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how he does in the game and if he can live up to Vic Fangio's expectations πŸ’ͺ. On a separate note, I'm curious about Jalen Carter's shoulder injury... like, when is he going to get some rest or what? πŸ€•

so i think it's time to bring back marcusepps in the lineup already πŸ˜‚πŸˆ i mean, he was 3rd in line for safety minutes before he went down and brown was only playing because mukuba is out injured πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. and now that mukuba is out, it feels like they're just gonna stick with whoever is available rather than finding a rhythm with epps. i hope vic fangio can get a feel for how epps is performing in practice before making the switch back, but i'm kinda rooting for epps to come back and shake things up πŸ€”πŸ’ͺ

πŸ€” this is good news for Marcus Epps and his fans! i think he has what it takes to be a solid starter, but i'm also not surprised that Vic Fangio took his time with the decision πŸ•°οΈ 21 days is a decent amount of time to get someone back in shape, especially when you consider how brutal the NFL can be on the body.

i do wonder if the snap-count changes for Jalen Carter are going to impact the team's overall defense 🀝 i mean, Carter is a key player and his injury could potentially open up holes for opposing teams. but at the same time, it's great that Fangio is addressing the issue rather than ignoring it πŸ”

omg i was so worried about Epps after he went down πŸ€• but apparently he made a comeback and is good to go 😌 Fangio being super transparent as usual, no drama or excuses needed πŸ™ it's like he just told us everything that's going on behind the scenes, even if it is kinda vague πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Carter though, i feel for him, shoulder injuries are no joke πŸ’” i hope he gets back to normal ASAP πŸ‘

so Marcus Epps is back in the mix now πŸ€”... been hearing he was making progress during practice and I'm glad to see him getting another shot πŸ’ͺ. Brown's playin' alright, but you can't deny Epps has more experience under his belt. The thing that's got me curious is how they're gonna handle Carter's shoulder injury... seems like a ticking time bomb πŸ€•. Hope Fangio knows what he's doin', gotta be careful with that guy.

Ugh, forums like this one are literally the worst πŸ€―πŸ’”. Can't even get a straight answer from our so-called "experts" without a whole lot of speculation and armchair quarterbacking. Vic Fangio says Epps is in the starting lineup now, but does that really mean anything? And what's with all the drama surrounding Carter's injury? Just give us some straight answers for once, folks! πŸ™„πŸ˜© And by the way, can we please just get a new design for this forum already? The font on my screen is literally giving me headaches πŸ˜’πŸ‘Ž

so like they're saying that this safety guy Marcus Epps is finally going back into the starting lineup... which is good news i guess? i mean he was hurt and now he's practicing again and stuff so it's cool to see him getting back on track πŸ’ͺ but also there's this other safety guy Sydney Brown who had a decent game last time out and now Marcus Epps is taking his spot? what if they're both not that great at their jobs lol? πŸ€”

man... thinkin bout safety Marcus Epps and his journey back from injury πŸ€•. its like life, you know? one minute your on top, next minute youre sidelined. he's gotta rebuild trust with himself and the team, but when hes finally back out there, hes gonna have a different perspective 😊. and what about the starter spot against Chargers? is it just a temporary fix or a stepping stone for Epps to prove himself? coach Fangio seems chill about it, but imo, hes also tryin to manage expectations 🀝... meanwhile, Carter's shoulder injury is like this lingering ghost in the background πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. how much can you really prepare for when your body betrays you?

πŸ€” so I'm thinking Epps is back in the starting lineup now? that's good news for him and the team. I mean, he was third in line before he got hurt but with Mukuba out, it seems like Epps is getting a second chance. 🏈 hopefully he can stay healthy and play well.

I don't know much about football but it sounds like Jalen Carter has an injury that's been bothering him since training camp. 😬 it's bad when players are struggling with injuries because it affects the whole team. I guess they're trying to make snap-count changes to help him feel better? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I'm curious to see how Epps plays now, though. is he going to be able to take over as starter and lead the team to victory? πŸ† only time will tell! ⏰

can you believe vic fangio is that transparent? i mean, the guy just tells us straight out that marcus epps is in, no need to wait anymore πŸ€”. it's like he's trying to rebuild trust or something. and what's up with brown playing inconsistent? can't they just get it together already? anyway, at least jalen carter's still giving it a shot despite the injury 😩. i'm just hoping they don't overdo it on him, that shoulder injury sounds nasty πŸ’‰.

OMG u guyz I'm literally dying over here 🀯 so Epps is finally back in the starting lineup and I'm low-key hyped for him πŸ’ͺ he was always my guy πŸ‘ I mean, Brown had a decent game but let's be real, it wasn't his best πŸ€” and now that Mukuba's out, this is like a dream come true for Epps fans 😴 my friend's bro's lil brother (yeah, that's how we roll) was actually a teammate of Epps in college and he swears Epps is "the real deal" πŸ’― anywayz I'm just glad to see the coach finally giving him a shot 🀞 Carter's shoulder injury though...I mean, it's like, come on Vic, spill the tea πŸ΅πŸ‘€ what's really going on? 🀫

I'm so excited that Marcus Epps is finally getting a chance to start for us! I've been thinking about our safety situation all season and it's like, we need someone who can lead by example πŸ€”. And I know Andrew Mukuba was doing great, but it's one thing to be on the field, another thing to make plays 🏈. Sydney Brown was solid when he started, but it's not the same as having a guy like Epps back in the mix πŸ’ͺ. As for Jalen Carter, I'm worried about his shoulder injury, I mean 80% of snaps is still pretty concerning 😬. Maybe Vic Fangio knows something we don't? Fingers crossed Marcus can make an impact and help us win some games! πŸ†

so Marcus Epps is finally in the starting lineup after that 21-day practice window. I think he's been working hard to get back from his injury and it shows. now, i'm curious to see how he'll hold up against the Chargers on Monday πŸ€”. meanwhile, brown was playing some good football but also had his ups and downs - hopefully epps can bring a more consistent vibe to that safety spot. and man, fangio is being super vague about jalen carter's shoulder issue... hope it doesn't affect our team too much 😬
