Edward Still: Watford appoint new head coach to replace Javi Gracia

Watford have made an unexpected appointment in Edward Still, the 35-year-old brother of former Southampton manager Will Still, as their new head coach on a two-and-a-half year deal. The decision comes after just three months in charge for Javi Gracia, who left Vicarage Road amid controversy.

Edward, who has no British or Championship management experience, will oversee Watford's quest to secure a spot in the play-offs with the team sitting 11th in the division. His primary focus will be on winning games as quickly as possible and getting the best out of his players.

The appointment was made despite concerns about Still's lack of experience and qualifications for the role. However, Watford chairman Scott Duxbury believes that Edward has modern coaching methods that can benefit his young squad, which he hopes to form a positive relationship with in order to turn the team around.

Edward has managed at Belgian club Anderlecht, where he also worked as assistant manager alongside his brother Will. He has no experience in the Championship, but Watford are banking on him bringing a fresh perspective to the role and helping them avoid relegation.

The appointment of Still brings to an end a period of instability at Vicarage Road, with three head coaches - Paulo Pezzolano, Javi Gracia, and Rob Edwards - being appointed in the same season.

I don't usually comment but I'm thinking Watford are taking a huge risk on this one πŸ€”... Edward Still's lack of experience is a major concern, especially with no British or Championship management gigs under his belt πŸ“š. But at the same time, you gotta wonder if they're trying to shake things up and bring some fresh ideas to the table πŸ”„. I mean, he did do well at Anderlecht, but that's a whole different level of football 🏟️. Still, it's not like Gracia was setting the world on fire either πŸ˜…... maybe this is just what Watford need - a breath of fresh air πŸ’¨? Either way, wish them luck and all that! 🀞

Ugh, watford's getting owned by their chairman, scott duxbury πŸ™„, for making edward still the new head coach despite him having zero british or championship management experience. like, how do u just ignore that red flag? πŸ’‘ still's got some decent cred from his stint as assistant manager at anderlecht tho, but let's be real, watford's gonna need more than that to turn their season around πŸ”„ i'm still hoping they can pull off a top 7 finish and avoid relegation πŸ˜…

I dunno about this one πŸ€”...Watford's squad is decent but they need someone with more Championship experience to stabilize them atm. Still might be a breath of fresh air, tho? His Anderlecht stint shows he's got some decent tactics under his belt πŸ‘ But I reckon getting a hold of that play-off spot won't be easy πŸ€•

I'm thinking Watford need someone to sort out their team ASAP, they can't keep having these coaching changes 🀯. I get that Edward's got some experience from Anderlecht, but is it really enough? πŸ€”. It feels like Watford are trying to fix things quickly instead of building a long-term plan, which could lead to more problems down the line πŸ’ͺ.

I'm not sure what Watford were thinking when they decided on Still though - 35 and no British or Championship experience? It's a big ask! πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. But at the same time, I can see why Scott Duxbury is hopeful that Edward's modern methods will help turn things around πŸ”„.

I'm just hoping this appointment doesn't lead to another season of drama at Vicarage Road 😬. Fingers crossed Still can prove everyone wrong and help Watford avoid relegation πŸ’―!

omg watford is like finally getting their act together πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ they need to do this ASAP or else we'll be stuck in the relegation zone for good πŸ’” edward still might just have what it takes tho, i mean his brother will is a legend and ed's got some decent experience under his belt πŸ† plus watford's squad is so underrated they've got some talented young players just waiting to break through πŸ”₯ if ed can whip them into shape we might just make the playoffs 🀞

omg this is crazy! watford needs a fresh start and edward's noob status as a coach might just be the thing they need to turn it around 🀩 he's got that "underdog" vibe going on and i love it!! πŸ’– still, i'm not sure how well he'll adapt to the british league, especially without any exp. but watford chairscott duxbury knows what he's doing and if he thinks edward's gonna make a difference, i'm all for it πŸ€—

πŸ€” So I was thinking, Watford's new coach thingy is kinda wild... They're basically throwing a wildcard into the mix, hoping Still's youth energy and "modern coaching methods" can turn things around πŸ”„πŸ’ͺ But let's be real, 11th in the division doesn't exactly scream stability βš”οΈ Still being his bro Will's old assistant manager at Anderlecht is pretty interesting, too... Maybe he'll bring some fresh blood (pun intended) to Watford 🌈 Who knows? Only time'll tell if this new coach gig works out or not! πŸ˜…

I gotta say, I'm intrigued by Watford's decision to go for Edward Still πŸ€”. I mean, 35 years young and no experience in the Championship, that's a big risk, but at the same time, he's got some interesting credentials from his stint with Anderlecht 🏟️. It'll be interesting to see how he adapts to the English game and gets on with the players πŸ‘₯. I'm not sure if it was the right move, but hey, desperate times call for desperate measures πŸ’ͺ. Watford's got a tough road ahead of them if they wanna avoid relegation 🚨, so fingers crossed that Still brings some fresh energy to the team ⚽️.

OMG u think watford just got lucky lol watford needs someone wth actual experience not some 35 yr old guy wth a few belgium gigs under his belt 🀣 they should've gone for someone wth some real qualifications and not try to fix it wth 'fresh perspective' nonsense πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ still gonna take Watford down lol

πŸ€” so watford just made edward still their new gaffer and i gotta say, it's a bit of a risk, right? πŸ˜… he's only 35 and has no british or championship exp, but scott duxbury thinks his modern coaching methods can benefit the young squad 🌟. i get why they want someone fresh, but 2.5 yrs is a long time to be in charge without having done it before πŸ’ͺ. still managed at anderlecht tho, so he's got some exp 😊. hope edward can bring the magic and turn watford around! ⚽️

omg did watford really just appoint edward still as their new coach tho?? πŸ˜‚ idk what's going on over there watford is like a manager carousel πŸ”„πŸ’Ό 11th in the championship? that's not good they need someone with some experience or at least some stability πŸ’ͺ
