Ugh just saw that the NYT lost its blue check after Elon Musk mocked them meanwhile, I was worried about climate change did you know that methane levels have reached record highs in the Arctic? it's getting seriously dire up there and on Twitter, it seems like verified accounts are now just a paid subscription away who needs trust when you can just shell out some cash, right?
I'm not sure why Elon is making it so complicated with the verification system... A paid subscription doesn't necessarily make you more notable or trustworthy. It's like paying to be heard, but does that mean your message isn't worth listening to? At least the NY Times main account still has its blue check, I guess that's a small win
I'm so confused about Elon Musk's Twitter Blue thingy I mean, I get it that he wants to make sure only notable users have verified badges, but does anyone know how they're gonna keep the bots at bay? And what's up with the NY Times' main account losing its blue check just 'cause Musk felt like mocking them ? It's like, if I pay for Twitter Blue, should I be treated like a legit journalist or just some random guy who's paying to be verified? The new label they added is super unclear... Can someone please explain how this whole thing works?
