Emmitt Smith Wants Men To Be More Mindful About Their Health

Emmitt Smith Urges Men to Prioritize Their Health, Spreading Awareness on Prostate Cancer.

NFL legend Emmitt Smith recently spent time with a group of cancer survivors at AT&T Stadium as part of Depend's "Stand Strong for Men's Health" campaign, which aims to raise awareness about prostate cancer among men. For Smith, who has had his father battle the disease, this is a cause close to his heart.

According to Smith, one in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime, making early detection crucial. He emphasizes that regular screening can help detect the disease early on through simple blood tests. However, he notes that many men fail to visit the doctor unless they're experiencing symptoms or pain, often neglecting quick and easy screenings that could save lives.

The issue is particularly acute for Black men, who face a 70% higher risk of diagnosis than their white counterparts. "Men often try to sweep things under the rug," Smith says. "But we need to take care of our health, and it's essential to prioritize our well-being to live long and healthy lives."

Depend's campaign not only raises awareness but also donates millions to research that improves prostate cancer treatment. Pro Football Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr is part of the initiative.

Smith's message resonates with other football legends, such as Deion Sanders and Barry Sanders, who are promoting health awareness among men over 40. For Smith, this is about breaking down the stigma surrounding men discussing their health issues. "Men are very proud individuals," he explains. "We're all focused on taking care of our families and being breadwinners, fathers, or protectors. But how can you be a protector if you're not completely healthy yourself?"

To encourage partners and children to speak up about the importance of men's health, Smith stresses that finding balance between physical, mental, and spiritual well-being is key.

For this legendary player who was recently crowned Dancing With The Stars champion, personal growth continues to be an essential focus. With a career spanning coaching, real estate investing, philanthropy, and more, Smith emphasizes the importance of constant self-improvement. He often cites his high school coach's advice: "It's only a dream until you write it down, and then it becomes a goal."

I totally feel Emmitt Smith's pain when he talks about men not prioritizing their health. My dad had to go through some stuff with prostate cancer too, and I remember how scared my mom was the whole time. But after he went through treatment, they both were super vocal about it and got everyone checked out. It's crazy that Black men are like 70% more likely to get diagnosed than white guys, gotta do more awareness, you feel me?

I totally get why Emmitt is so passionate about this cause 🀝. I mean, prostate cancer affects some serious dudes in their prime years, and it's all about awareness and early detection ⏰. For me, it's not just about the stats (1 in 8 guys will get it), but also about breaking down that toxic masculinity thing that makes men think they can't talk about their health πŸ’”. Like, we need to be able to have these conversations without feeling like we're weak or emasculated. I love how Emmitt is using his platform to bring attention to this issue and encourage his fellow football legends (and all the guys out there) to take care of themselves 🏈πŸ’ͺ. And yeah, it's great that Depend is doing their part with research donations πŸ’•. We need more men prioritizing their health and wellness – it's a matter of living longer, healthier lives for ourselves and our loved ones ❀️.

omg u gotta hear emmitt smith talk about prostate cancer awareness 🀯! he's so passionate about spreading the word & breaking that stigma around men talking about their health πŸ’•. as someone who knows how much of an impact his family has had with cancer, i can totally get behind this πŸ™. and it's not just him, guys like ken griffey jr & deion sanders are all on board too πŸ‘«! depend's campaign is doing so much good btw πŸ’–, from donating to research to getting football legends involved πŸ’ͺ. emmitt's message about finding balance in life & taking care of our health is everything 🌞. we need more men being open about their health issues & prioritizing their well-being ❀️. can't wait to see what he does next!

🏈πŸ’ͺ just think about all those men out there who could've been saved if they'd just gotten checked for prostate cancer... it's crazy how many lives are being lost because of something so preventable 🀯. we should be prioritizing our health over our pride and ego, you know? πŸ’•

man 😊 prostate cancer is super serious guys gotta take care of ur health! my dad had some issues with his prostate back in the day, luckily he got caught early. 1 in 8 men will get diagnosed which is crazy! we need to make sure we're getting our blood tests done regularly so it's not a major deal when it happens. black guys especially are hit hard πŸ€• with a 70% higher risk, that's just not right. men try to tough it out but we gotta be strong about seeking help. depend is doing some awesome work donating millions to research and getting pro football legends like emmitt and ken griffey jr involved 🏈πŸ’ͺ

I'm like totally for this campaign, but at the same time... I don't know if it's too preachy πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, Emmitt Smith is a great guy and all, but some people might think he's being a bit too serious about prostate cancer. Like, can't we just chill about it for once? πŸ˜’

But, on the other hand... I'm like totally with him on this 🀝. Prostate cancer is super important to be aware of, especially for Black men who are at higher risk πŸ’―. We need to break down that stigma and make guys feel comfortable talking about their health issues, you know? πŸ€—

I guess what I'm saying is... it's a good campaign, but we shouldn't forget that everyone's different and what works for one person might not work for another 🌈. And can we please just get more men involved in the conversation? It feels like guys are always getting left out of these health talks πŸ’¬.

Anyway... kudos to Emmitt Smith and Depend for doing something positive, I guess 😊. Now let's all just go take care of ourselves, okay? πŸ‘

πŸ€” this campaign is needed now more than ever, especially with how health issues are still stigmatized among men in the black community πŸ•ŠοΈ can't believe they're only 1 in 8 men who'll get prostate cancer btw how much is depend donating to research? πŸ’Έ

πŸ€” I mean, come on, 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer? That's crazy! 🚨 And the fact that Black men are 70% more likely to be diagnosed... that's just not right. We need to do better than just raising awareness, we need to actually make it easy for guys to get checked out regularly without them having to be sick already. I'm all for the campaign and all, but can't we just slap a screening into our NFL contracts or something? πŸ’Έ It's time for us to take care of ourselves, you know? Not just because it's cool to talk about it, but because it's actually life or death stuff. πŸ€•

Man, prostate cancer is like, super serious πŸš¨πŸ’‰! I feel bad for guys who don't get tested because they're trying to be tough or whatever πŸ˜“. It's actually more common in Black men than white men, which is just sad πŸ€•. We gotta break the stigma around talking about our health issues, you know? My uncle had some problems with his prostate and it was a real challenge to deal with 🀝.

I love that Emmitt Smith is using his platform to spread awareness and help others πŸ’–. His message is all about prioritizing your health and taking care of yourself, both physically and mentally πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈ. We need more guys like him who are encouraging us to speak up about our health concerns #ProstateCancerAwareness #MensHealthMatters

I'm all for Emmitt Smith spreading awareness about prostate cancer... I mean, who doesn't want to live a long and healthy life? 🀝 But I gotta say, the fact that Black men are 70% more likely to get diagnosed is still super concerning. We need to be talking about systemic issues here too, you know? πŸ’‘ It's not just about individual responsibility or men sweeping things under the rug... it's also about how we tackle these inequalities in healthcare. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

🀝 gotta say, Emmitt's trying to tackle this prostate cancer thing in a super genuine way. I mean, he's coming from a place of love for his dad who battled it, so yeah πŸ™. The stats on Black men are insane though 🚨 - 70% higher risk? That needs attention ASAP! And I get what Emmitt's saying about men being proud and not wanting to talk about their health issues... but like, we need to break that stigma already! πŸ’ͺ It's all about prioritizing our health and well-being, whether it's for ourselves or our families. The fact that Depend's campaign is donating millions to research is a big plus πŸ€‘

πŸˆπŸ’‘ Emmitt Smith is bringing the heat on prostate cancer awareness and I'm loving it! As someone who's seen firsthand how devastating this disease can be (his dad battled it), he's using his platform to spread the word and encourage men to take control of their health. The stats are mind-blowing - 1 in 8 guys will get diagnosed, and Black men are 70% more likely to catch it than their white counterparts 🀯.

It's all about breaking down that stigma around men talking about their health issues. We need to prioritize our well-being so we can be the best versions of ourselves for our families and communities. I love how Smith is using his "Stand Strong for Men's Health" campaign to raise awareness, donate to research, and even inspiring other football legends to join in 🀝.

Let's get real - men are often too proud to talk about their health issues, but it's time we change that narrative. We need to find balance between physical, mental, and spiritual well-being so we can be the best protectors for ourselves and those around us πŸ’ͺ. I'm all in on this movement and I hope more guys will join Emmitt Smith in spreading the word about prostate cancer awareness πŸŽ‰.

πŸˆπŸ’‘ so i think emmitt smith is right on point with this prostate cancer thing 🀝 we gotta take care of our health as men especially since black guys are more likely to get diagnosed at a younger age πŸ’” the stats are crazy 70% higher risk which is just not okay 😩 and i love how depend's campaign is donating millions to research 🌟 like we need all the help we can get! but what really got me is when smith says men don't wanna talk about their health 🀫 that stigma needs to be broken ASAP πŸ’¬ we gotta make it cool for guys to discuss their feelings and ask for help πŸ€πŸ½πŸ’•

🀝 I feel so inspired by Emmitt's story, y'all! His dad went through prostate cancer & he's been passionate about spreading awareness ever since. It's crazy to think that 1 in 8 men will get diagnosed at some point... we gotta take care of ourselves, fam πŸ’ͺ. And can we talk about the stigma around men talking about their health? πŸ€” It's time for us to be more open & prioritize our well-being. I love how Emmitt's using his platform to break down those barriers πŸ’•. His message is all about finding balance in life & taking care of our mental & spiritual health too, not just physical health πŸŒ±πŸ’†β€β™‚οΈ

🏈πŸ’ͺ I'm totally on board with Emmitt's message about prioritizing health over all 🀝. Prostate cancer is super serious, especially for black men who are more likely to get it πŸ’”. We gotta break the stigma around talking about our health issues and be proactive about getting checked out πŸ‘Š. Smith's right, we can't be true heroes if we're not taking care of ourselves first πŸ™Œ. I'm loving Depend's campaign and the fact that they're donating millions to research πŸš€. It's time for us to put our own health on the line (literally πŸ’‰) and support each other in doing so πŸ‘«. Let's get moving, guys! #ProstateCancerAwareness #MensHealthMatters #DependsOnUs πŸ’•

Ugh, I'm so over how they're trying to make men feel like they can't talk about their health issues without being seen as weak πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Like, come on guys, it's okay to not be okay! We need more than just awareness campaigns, we need action πŸ“ˆ. And what's with the "men are proud individuals" thing? That just sounds like a bunch of BS πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ. Can't we just acknowledge that taking care of our health is essential for being good partners, fathers, and people in general? 🀝

Ugh, I'm so over how all these celebrity endorsements are hyping up men's health awareness πŸ™„. Like, Emmitt Smith is literally the poster child for prostate cancer awareness now... okay cool, we get it. The problem is that Depend's campaign is more focused on selling underwear than actually providing resources or solutions for men who are struggling with this issue πŸ’Έ. And don't even get me started on how they're using Ken Griffey Jr in their ads πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Can't they come up with something more authentic? It feels like they're just trying to capitalize on a trending issue instead of actually making a meaningful impact πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ.
