England Test cricket: How Ben Stokes' side could line up against New Zealand after latest Ashes away defeat

England is gearing up for a three-match Test series against New Zealand at Lord's, with many questions surrounding the team's lineup. The Ashes series that took place in Australia was a disappointing one for England, and changes will be made as they look to bounce back.

Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett were both struggling Down Under, but Crawley has retained his place due to continuity. Duckett, however, is out of the running after failing to pass 42 in ten innings against Australia. In his place comes Glamorgan's Asa Tribe, who has been turning heads with his run-scoring exploits.

Tribe, a 21-year-old opener from the Channel Islands, has already made 31 international appearances for England but is keen to play for the country in the long term. His performances in South Africa have caught the eye of former England captain Kevin Pietersen, who believes he's one to watch.

Others who might be pushing for selection include Durham's Ben McKinney and Sussex's Tom Haines, both of whom featured in the England Lions squad this winter. Jacob Bethell, currently at number three, is a lock, but it remains to be seen whether the same faces will occupy numbers four and five in the middle order.

Joe Root is a certainty, with the former captain still chasing down Sachin Tendulkar's record for most Test runs scored. Harry Brook should keep his place at number five, but the Yorkshireman may need a break due to his recent involvement in limited-overs series.

Ben Stokes will remain England captain and opener, but who else might fill the roles of James Rew and Brydon Carse? 22-year-old Thomas Rew from the same family has been tipped as a hotter prospect. Jamie Smith is under pressure, having had a torrid Ashes series with both bat and gloves.

As for spin bowlers, Shoaib Bashir needs to get back on track after being left out of the Ashes squad. Rehan Ahmed, however, will be looking to nail down his role as England's top leg-spinner. Brydon Carse and Josh Tongue are likely to keep their spots, while Sam Cook is a possibility if he can regain form.

England's Test series against New Zealand begins at Lord's on June 4, with the second match taking place at The Kia Oval in London from June 17-21.

omg have u seen wat's goin on wit england cricket team?? 🀯 they need 2 make some big changes aftr thir disappointing ashes series πŸ† asa tribe is defo a name 2 watch, hes been crushin it in south africa πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ and kevin pietersen thinks he's got the skills 2 take england 2 new heights πŸ’₯ meanwhile ben stokes wil b leadin the team & havin a blast at the crease 😎

just heard about asa tribe getting picked for england team πŸ€”, think it's cool that a young lad from jersey is gonna get his chance to shine 🎯, gotta be excited for him, but also wonder how he'll handle the pressure of playing at lord's... maybe it's time for ben stokes to focus on batting instead of captaining? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

man i'm so hyped for the Ashes series against NZ πŸŽ‰ it's been a while since England bounced back from a tough series and this lineup change is gonna be interesting. i love seeing Asa Tribe get a shot, he's got some serious skills and that 31 international appearances is no joke 😲 ben stokes is still captain but who's gonna step up for the other spots? πŸ€” james rew is still out of the running which is sad to hear. also, shoaib bashir needs to get back on track ASAP πŸ’₯ can't wait to see rehan ahmed nail down his role as england's top leg-spinner πŸ‘

omg i just ate the best burger ever πŸ”πŸ˜‹ like what's up with the cricket news tho? is it really important to know who's gonna play for england? i mean i dont get why they cant just pick whoever wants to play πŸ˜‚ and btw has anyone tried that new ice cream flavor at the shop downtown? its kinda...interesting πŸ€ͺ

I'm hyped for this series ! Asa Tribe is gonna be fire πŸ”₯ I mean, 31 appearances already and he's only 21? He needs to keep up that form and prove himself as a top opener. Ben Stokes leading the team is a no-brainer, but I think they should give Thomas Rew a chance to open alongside him πŸ€” And don't even get me started on the batting lineup - we need some consistency and depth. Joe Root is still the man for big innings, but Harry Brook's form has been all over the place lately πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Can't wait for June 4th and Lord's!

omg i'm so hyped for england's test series against nz πŸ™Œ cant wait to see what team selection brings, feels like a new era for english cricket 🏏 ben stokes will def make some big changes and bring in fresh talent like asa tribe πŸ‘€ hope the young blood can help them bounce back from that australia series πŸ˜” shoaib bashir needs to step up his game tho, gotta get him firing πŸ”₯ think joe root is gonna break sachin's record soon πŸš€

I gotta say, it's been a bit of a rebuilding phase for English cricket after that tough Ashes series... πŸ€” They're making some changes to try and get back on track. Asa Tribe is definitely one to keep an eye on - that lad's got talent pouring out of every pore! 😊 I mean, 31 international appearances at just 21? He's gotta be a decent bet for the future.

But you know how it goes... experience counts for a lot in cricket too. Joe Root is still looking sharp, and Harry Brook should keep his spot at number five. Ben Stokes will continue to lead the charge as captain, but who knows about those supporting spots? πŸ€” Can't wait to see how it all plays out! πŸ‘

🌱 I'm loving this recent trend of young players getting a chance to shine for England! Asa Tribe is definitely one to watch 🀩, his performances in South Africa have been on point and it's exciting to see him make the leap to the international stage. The question now is how will they balance continuity with giving new faces a go? Zak Crawley still deserves some credit for sticking by himself despite a tough Ashes series 😊. And can we please get more spin bowling action?! Rehan Ahmed has been looking sharp and I'm excited to see him in action 🎯. Bring on the Test series against New Zealand! πŸ’ͺ

OMG, I'm SO hyped for the upcoming Ashes series!!! 🀩 England needs to bounce back from that disappointing tour in Australia and I think they've got a great chance of doing so with this new lineup πŸ”₯ Asa Tribe is a total gem, his run-scoring skills are insane and I love how Pietersen is already backing him πŸ’ͺ The squad's getting a fresh face with Tribe, it'll be cool to see how he performs in the long term. And Joe Root is still chasing that record πŸš€ Can't wait for June 4th at Lord's, gonna be an epic Test series!!! ⚑️

so its like they're trying to get back to the top after that aussie ashles series πŸ€” England needs to make some changes, you feel me? like ben duckett getting benched for asa tribe was a smart move btw. and i love that Kevin pietersen is giving it up for tribe πŸ’ͺ he's got a good game plan. but joe root will still dominate, no doubt about that πŸ”₯ what do u think about the middle order tho? gotta keep james rew in the mix, but who else can step up at 4 & 5? πŸ€”

I'm thinking they need to shake things up a bit in that England lineup πŸ€”. I mean, Joe Root is still killing it, but the rest of the middle order is looking a bit stale. Asa Tribe's arrival is a nice boost, though - he's got some serious run-scoring skills and could be the game-changer they need.

It's also good to see Ben Stokes still leading from the front as captain and opener πŸ™Œ. But, I'm not sure about Jamie Smith at all... he just didn't perform well in that Ashes series, you know? And what's up with Shoaib Bashir being left out again? He needs to get his form back ASAP ⏰.

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how the new team comes together. Fingers crossed for a strong comeback from England 🀞!

I'm not sure I agree that Asa Tribe should be starting for England... I mean, what if he doesn't live up to expectations? 😬 It's a risk, but you never know, and the lad has been doing alright so far. But on the other hand, how can we really trust someone who hasn't even played in the Ashes series yet? πŸ€” And what about Ben McKinney? He seems like a solid player to me... maybe he should get a go? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ But then again, I've seen some of his stats and he's not exactly setting the world on fire... πŸ“Š Ugh, my brain is all over the place! πŸ˜‚

I'm not sure about this new kid Asa Tribe being thrust into the England squad so early. He might be a hot prospect, but I've seen a lot of players come and go before. What's to say he won't get nervous and stuff up in front of the big crowds? Plus, it feels like they're trying too hard to make changes after the Ashes series disaster. Have you heard anything about his technique in practice? Don't wanna see him flailing around out there πŸ€”

πŸ€” England's lineup changes are gonna be interesting to watch. I think they're making a solid move by bringing in Asa Tribe, he seems like a bright prospect. 🌟 The squad is looking pretty balanced now with Joe Root and Harry Brook keeping their spots. Ben Stokes will continue to lead from the front. πŸ‘Š

However, I'm a bit worried about spin bowlers, especially Shoaib Bashir. He needs to get his act together soon or it might affect the team's overall performance. πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ Rehan Ahmed seems like a solid pick for the leg-spin role though. πŸ’ͺ

I'm not sure what to make of Jamie Smith's inclusion, he just had a tough Ashes series and I think they need someone fresh in at number 3. 😐 Maybe Thomas Rew could be the one to fill that spot? πŸ€”

I was just reading about how the new Google Maps update has made navigation so much better for cyclists πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, they added this feature where it shows you the safest routes and even suggests traffic-free alternatives. It's been a game-changer for me when planning my Sunday rides. And speaking of Sundays, have you tried that new coffee shop downtown? Their cold brew is incredible 😊.

πŸ˜… I think they should try out some fresh faces for the England team, you know? Like that Asa Tribe lad, he's been doing alright in his few appearances so far πŸ€”. And what about Ben McKinney and Tom Haines? They've got some decent form from the Lions squad this winter πŸ’ͺ. It'd be cool to see them give it a go against New Zealand. And can we please keep an eye on Thomas Rew, he's got a lot of promise! ⚑️

Wow 🀯, I'm loving the comeback vibes England is giving itself after that Ashes debacle! They're definitely shaking things up with Asa Tribe at number three, and I think it's time to see more of him! Interesting how Pietersen thinks he's a one to watch...

πŸ€” so i think england needs to find a balance between continuity and fresh faces... keeping zack crawley but bringing in asa tribe is a good start, plus he's already got some experience under his belt πŸ‘ meanwhile joe root is still the rock they need at number 3, and ben stokes will keep leading the team. i'm not sure about james rew's spot though πŸ€” maybe they could bring in that young tom reed guy who's supposed to be good? and on the spin side, rehan ahmed needs to step up his game πŸ”„

πŸ€” England needs to shake things up after that disappointing Ashes series πŸπŸ˜“. I'm loving Asa Tribe's chances as an opener - he's been on fire and Pietersen knows what's good πŸ’―! Maybe it's time for Ben McKinney to get a go? Durham's been quiet since the Ashes, could a spot be coming his way? 😬 And honestly, who's surprised by Harry Brook's inclusion at number 5? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ The question is, can they hold onto their spots or will new faces come in and shake things up? πŸŽ‰ June's gonna be a wild ride for England cricket fans! πŸ”₯
