Ex-husband charged with murder in killing of Ohio dentist and his wife

Chicago Man Arrested in Connection to Deadly Ohio Shootings, Police Say

A 39-year-old man from Chicago has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal shootings of an Ohio dentist and his wife. Michael McKee was taken into custody without incident on Saturday, according to police, who issued a warrant for him earlier that day.

McKee is the ex-husband of Monique Tepe, one of the victims, according to court records obtained by CBS News. The arrest comes after police released footage of a person of interest seen walking near the couple's home around the time of the killings.

The Tepe family expressed gratitude for the arrest, saying it was "an important step toward justice" for Monique and Spencer Tepe. However, they also acknowledged that the loss will have a lasting impact on their two children, who were found uninjured at the scene.

Spencer Tepe, 37, and his wife Monique, 39, were shot to death in their home in Columbus' Near East Side neighborhood between December 30th and January 2nd. Police say they believe the couple was killed between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. during this time.

The investigation into the killings has been ongoing for several days, with police releasing new information last week, including a 911 call made by an unknown woman at the same address where the Tepe family lived in April of last year. The woman reported a domestic dispute but claimed she was okay and did not need assistance.

Authorities say no weapons were found at the scene, and there were no signs of forced entry. The two children of the victims are believed to be safe, having been found uninjured by police upon their arrival at the home.

McKee's arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the Tepe family's murders.

just heard about this crazy case in ohio ๐Ÿคฏ the fact that michael mckee was living right next to his ex-wife and her new hubby is wild, like what were they thinking? ๐Ÿ˜‚ anyway, i feel bad for those two kids who lost their parents, it's gotta be super tough on them ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿ’” but at least the police were able to catch the guy, that's some good news ๐ŸŽ‰ do you think we'll ever know all the details behind what happened at that house? was there more to mckee and tepe's relationship than meets the eye? ๐Ÿค”

I cant believe this guy was on the loose for so long ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, you'd think with all the surveillance and whatnot, he'd be caught by now. But I guess the police were working tirelessly behind the scenes to build a case against him. The fact that his ex-wife was one of the victims is wild - it's like the universe was trying to tell us something about their relationship. Anyway, I'm glad justice will finally be served for the Tepe family. Those kids must be traumatized by what they witnessed ๐Ÿค•.

OMG I'm so glad they finally caught this guy 39 isn't old lol ๐Ÿ˜‚ I mean who does that to people anyway? And poor Spencer and Monique ๐Ÿค• what would have happened if those kids were hurt too? The police did a good job gathering all that footage of the person of interest, it's like they had a Sherlock Holmes moment ๐Ÿ’ก. But this is such a sad story, I hope those kids are okay now. It's just really weird that there was no sign of forced entry or any weapons at the scene... what did he do? ๐Ÿค”

Police finally got their man... but will justice really be served? ๐Ÿค” [GIF of a judge banging his gavel, with a pause in the middle that looks suspiciously like a wink ๐Ÿ˜‰]

just heard about this news and i'm shook ๐Ÿ˜ฑ, you know how many times we hear about mass shootings but never see any real justice served? it's crazy that someone would just walk up to a couple's house and kill them like that... 2 a.m to 5 a.m is some creepy time to be walking around ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ, i feel bad for the kids who lost their parents tho ๐Ÿ’” they'll have to deal with this trauma forever. police did a good job catching the guy tho ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ, now it's just about piecing together what happened and finding out why he did it ๐Ÿ’ก

just heard about this crazy case ๐Ÿคฏ, so shocking that a man from chicago would do this to a dentist and his wife... i mean, what's going on with people these days? anyway, glad the police were able to catch him without incident, hopefully justice will be served for the Tepe family ๐Ÿ’”. but omg those two kids are like totally lucky to have made it out alive ๐Ÿ™, can't even imagine how traumatic that must've been for them...

"Even the smallest person can change the course of the future." ๐ŸŒŸ The fact that Michael McKee was able to evade justice for so long is truly concerning, but his recent arrest brings some sense of closure and justice to the Tepe family. It's heartbreaking to think about what those two children must have gone through, but it's reassuring to know they're safe. Let's keep a positive thought that this arrest will lead to more progress in the investigation and hopefully bring answers to the Tepe family. ๐Ÿ’•

man... this is just so sad ๐Ÿค• it sounds like such a violent & random act of violence... i feel bad for monique & spencer's kids, they must be going through so much trauma ๐Ÿ˜” but at least now mickael mckee is behind bars, justice has to bring some kinda closure to the tepe family ... and the fact that no one was hurt besides them 2 is just crazy ๐Ÿคฏ i mean what could've driven someone to do such a thing?... hope mckee's arrest brings some peace of mind to columbus ๐Ÿ˜Œ

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ so frustrating how the article jumps around between different pieces of info like a scattergunning writer ๐Ÿคฏ it would've been way more effective if they had structured the whole thing with clear headings and paragraphs to separate the different facts and details... think about it, you could have a section on "the victims" followed by "the investigation", then "the arrest"... or even better, use subheadings like "arrest made in connection to deadly shootings" ๐Ÿ“ฐ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿค” I'm kinda surprised this guy was able to get away for so long, ya know? Like, what were the cops waiting for? Releasing that 911 call last week was a good move though, it must've given them some leads... but still, it's crazy that no one else was around to hear her or help out. It sounds like it was pretty quiet and peaceful in the neighborhood when it happened. ๐ŸŒƒ

This is such a sad and shocking case ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ I mean, can you imagine walking into your own home only to have it turned into a nightmare? The fact that the kids were found safe but still reeling from the loss of their parents is heartbreaking ๐Ÿ’”. It's been weeks since this happened and we're still trying to process what really went down. The person of interest footage was super helpful, btw ๐Ÿ‘€. And now that Michael McKee has been arrested, I'm hoping for justice to be served ASAP โฐ. Let's keep the Tepe family in our thoughts ๐Ÿ’•

omg just got back from ohio ๐Ÿคฏ and man that's some crazy stuff happening in columbus... anyway i was watching this vid of the suspect being taken away and it was so intense ๐Ÿ˜ฒ but like what's next? i mean we need to talk about the tech aspect here, can't help but think about all the surveillance footage that's been released and how it helped crack the case ๐Ÿ“น๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ also, has anyone seen those new smart glasses with facial recognition tech? would've been super helpful in identifying mckee on that footage ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

omg u can't believe this dude was out there hurtin people like that ๐Ÿคฏ 39 yrs old and he still thinks it's okay to take lives like that? no wonder his ex-wife knew he was trouble... sounds like a volatile relationship from the get go ๐Ÿ’” gotta feel for the Tepe kids tho, growin up without parents is no joke ๐Ÿ˜ญ at least the police were able to catch him off guard... hope justice is served and they can finally start healin ๐Ÿ™

I'm not sure if I'm surprised that Michael McKee was arrested or if I should've seen it coming ๐Ÿค”. On one hand, he's been known to have a pretty shady past, and his history with Monique wasn't exactly rosy ๐Ÿ˜’. But at the same time... I don't know, man, maybe he just got caught up in the moment? I mean, they released that footage of him walking near their home, but did it really take until now for the police to act on it? ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ

It's weird that the Tepe family is both relieved and concerned about McKee's arrest. On one hand, I guess it's a step in the right direction towards justice... but on the other hand, their kids are still traumatized by what happened, and that's just not something you can ever fully get over ๐Ÿ˜”. And what was up with that 911 call from last year? That woman claimed she didn't need help for a domestic dispute, but did anyone actually believe her at the time? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

I don't know, maybe I'm just being too pessimistic... or maybe I should be more optimistic? Either way, it's just another one of those complicated cases where nothing seems to make sense ๐Ÿ”ฎ.

Just got this news about Michael McKee being arrested in relation to those Ohio killings and I gotta say its pretty wild how things unfolded. So basically, some dude from Chicago was walking around Columbus and that's when police caught him - what a relief for the Tepe family who are still trying to process the loss of their loved ones ๐Ÿ’”. I mean, you can't help but think about the kids they left behind without any parents, it's just not fair ๐Ÿ˜•. The investigation is getting somewhere, which is definitely good news for those affected by this tragedy ๐Ÿ™. One thing that's been on my mind though is what led to McKee being the main suspect in all of this - was there more going on that we don't know about?

omg i cant even right now ๐Ÿ˜ญ... this is just so sad & frustrating how these things happen & ppl think its okay to hurt others ๐Ÿค•... ok so like i was thinking about this news and it just makes me wanna scream lol... but seriously who does that to someone else's family? ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ like the tepe fam is still trying to process everything they went thru & now this guy gets arrested but its gonna take time for them to heal & move on ๐Ÿ’”...

and i saw the vid of the person of interest walking around & i was like "oh cool" lol... just kidding kinda ๐Ÿคฃ... seriously though what if he did something else while he was there? ๐Ÿค”

anywayz gotta say tho the tepe fam is still my heart โค๏ธ... sending lotsa positive vibes their way ๐Ÿ’–

So this guy from Chicago gets arrested for killing an Ohio dentist and his wife... that's some crazy stuff ๐Ÿคฏ but what's really interesting is how this case highlights the issue of domestic violence in America. I mean, we know it's a huge problem out there, and it seems like more often than not, these cases go unsolved or underreported. The fact that this ex-husband was able to get away with killing his own family for so long is just shocking ๐Ÿ˜ฑ and makes you wonder how many other women are in similar situations without any help.

And what's really frustrating is that we don't seem to be doing enough to support victims of domestic violence or hold perpetrators accountable. I mean, think about it - this guy was released from prison like 10 years ago, and then he goes on to kill his own wife? That's just not right ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. We need to do better as a society to prevent these kinds of tragedies and make sure that justice is served for the victims and their families.

It's also interesting to note how this case might be affected by the fact that Michael McKee was from Chicago... will that impact how his case gets handled in terms of bail, sentencing, etc.? I'm curious to see how this plays out! ๐Ÿค”
