Ex-NFL star Antonio Brown gets $25K bail and GPS monitor on Miami attempted murder charge - WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports | Fort Lauderdale

Former NFL Star Antonio Brown Released on Bail Amid Attempted Murder Charge in Miami

A Miami court handed down a relatively lenient sentence for former NFL star Antonio Brown, who has been charged with attempted murder. The 37-year-old wide receiver was ordered to pay $25,000 bail and wear a GPS ankle monitor as he awaits trial.

Brown, who pleaded not guilty to the second-degree charge, faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted. His lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, argued that his client would return to his home in Broward County and would be "zealously" defending himself against the charges.

The charges stem from a May 16 altercation at a celebrity boxing match in Miami, where Brown allegedly grabbed a handgun from a security staffer and fired two shots. One of the bullets grazed the neck of Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, who had gotten into a fistfight with Brown earlier. However, Brown's lawyer claims that the affidavit used to obtain the arrest warrant is incorrect, stating that Brown actually fired his own personal firearm in self-defense.

According to Eiglarsh, Brown was not fleeing and intended to turn himself in on the charges from Dubai, where he has been living for several months. The NFL star had claimed on social media that he was defending himself against multiple individuals who tried to steal his jewelry.

Brown spent 12 years in the NFL and is a four-time Pro Bowl selection. He holds numerous career records, including receptions (928) and total touchdowns (88).

omg u can't believe what's been happening with antonio brown lol he's like a totally different person now 🀯 from the nfl star we all loved watching on tv. i feel bad for him tho, 15 yrs in prison is a pretty harsh sentence considering he's pleaded not guilty πŸ™ and his lawyer claims it was self-defense. but like what even happened at that celebrity boxing match? it seems like it got out of hand real quick 🀯 and now antonio brown is stuck with this huge bail and gps ankle monitor πŸ’ŽπŸš«. i hope he can get through this trial and clear his name, because the nfl will definitely miss him on the field πŸ˜”

Antonio Brown's case is super sketchy to me πŸ˜’. I mean, yeah he was in a scuffle at this celebrity boxing match but trying to claim it was self-defense after grabbing a gun and firing shots? That's just wild 🀯. And now he's out on bail after just paying $25k and wearing a GPS ankle monitor? It feels like too easy a break for me.

I don't trust that his lawyer is being totally honest about the situation either. If Brown was really just trying to defend himself, wouldn't there be more evidence of that? Like video footage or something? And why did it take him months to return to Miami after living in Dubai? That just raises so many questions πŸ€”.

I'm not saying Brown is guilty or anything, but this whole situation feels like a major case of "my word against theirs". I hope he's found guilty and serves the full 15 years if that's what happens. The NFL community should know better than to let someone like this slip through the cracks πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

.. this whole thing with Antonio Brown just feels so... messy. I mean, on one hand, you gotta feel bad for the guy - he's been through some serious stuff in his life, what with all the injuries and controversies that came with being an NFL superstar. But at the same time, attempted murder is a whole different ball game. It's like, dude, we get it, you're upset about some jewelry getting stolen... but two shots? That's just not okay.

And I don't know about this "self-defense" business either. If he was really defending himself, wouldn't there be more to the story than just a quick tweet and his lawyer saying so? It feels like there's some BS going on here. And now that he's out on bail with a GPS ankle monitor... it's just all pretty confusing. I guess you can't blame the guy for trying to defend himself, but at the same time, you gotta hold him accountable for his actions πŸ€”πŸ‘€

OMG, this dude's life is WILD!!! 🀯 I'm literally shook that he got off with just $25k bail... I mean, 15 yrs in prison ain't no joke, fam! 😩 But what's good is that his lawyer said he was actin' in self-defense, so maybe justice will be served? πŸ€” The fact that he was livin' in Dubai and claimed multiple people were tryna steal his jewelry is straight fire... I mean, who doesn't love a good jewelry heist? πŸ’Ž But for real tho, how's life after the NFL treatin' him like this? Shoulda thought about that before gettin' all extra on stage πŸ˜‚.

πŸ˜” my heart goes out to Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu's family... he was just trying to stand up for himself and now this πŸ˜• how many people have to go through something like this before we get justice? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I know Antonio Brown had an amazing career, but attempted murder is not something you can just talk your way out of πŸ’” his actions were reckless and put someone's life in danger... 15 years could be too harsh, but the law has to be followed πŸ™πŸ’•

πŸ˜” I'm so worried about Antonio Brown right now... he's been through so much in his life and career already, and to be facing something like this just feels really tough for him πŸ€•. 15 years in prison is a long time, especially when you're only 37... it's hard not to feel sad for the guy who used to be a superstar on the football field. I hope he gets the help and support he needs during this difficult time πŸ’”.

TBH I'm like super confused about this whole situation πŸ€”. So Antonio Brown's got a history of drama on and off the field, but attempting murder? That's just wild 🚨. On one hand, his lawyer is saying that he was just defending himself against some guys who were trying to steal his stuff πŸ’Ž. But on the other hand, it sounds like Brown just went crazy at this celebrity boxing match πŸ₯Š. Either way, 15 years in prison seems pretty harsh for a guy with so many skills on the field 🏈. Maybe he should've just kept his cool and not pulled out a gun? πŸ’” Anyway, I'm rooting for him to get through this trial without any major issues πŸ‘.

you know what's wild? i was watching this old video of antonio brown playing for the pittsburgh steelers, he was literally unstoppable on the field 🀯. and can you believe he's now facing attempted murder charges? it's like, what happened to the guy who used to do backflips on the field πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ? anyway, i wonder if his career will be more famous for these off-field antics than his actual football achievements πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ. and have you seen those celebrity boxing matches they're always so intense! i feel bad for zul-qarnain kwame nantambu tho πŸ€•.

just when u think football players r above the law lol 🀣 this guy antonio brown attempted murder charge and he's out on bail already? what a joke πŸ€ͺ i mean, i know ppl love him for his skills on the field but come on, 12 yrs in the nlf and u can't even handle a little drama like that? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ 15 yrs in prison if convicted is still less than some of the time u guys get for other crimes πŸ™„ i hope he actually tries to turn himself in and not play dumb about it, cuz that's just gonna make things worse πŸ’”

omg what's going on with abrown? 🀯 he's got some serious issues 🚨 and now this attempted murder charge is like whoa...15 years in prison would be a bit harsh don't you think? πŸ€” i mean, he has a good reputation from his nfl days but this is a whole different story πŸ“Ί. the fact that his lawyer claims he was defending himself in self-defense makes me wonder what really happened πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. and 25k bail is pretty steep πŸ’Έ. anyway, it'll be interesting to see how this all plays out 🎬

I don't get it why we have to sift through all this drama on our platform. Can't we just focus on real issues for once? Like I'm reading about some NFL star getting charged with attempted murder and he's already out on bail because of a lawyer's words... πŸ€”. It feels like every single day is just a repeat of the same stuff - celebrity scandals, crime stories... doesn't anyone have better things to talk about?

And what's up with these "breaking news" threads that take over our homepage? Can't we just get some decent discussion going for once? I swear, sometimes it feels like no one cares about having actual conversations anymore... πŸ˜’. And don't even get me started on the 25k bail - does anyone know where they're actually using that kind of money? It's just so frustrating... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing... like how someone as successful and famous as Antonio Brown ends up facing attempted murder charges 🀯πŸ’₯. I get that we've all said some crazy stuff on social media before, but grabbing a gun and firing shots? That's just not something you can just sweep under the rug. And what's even crazier is that he's claiming self-defense πŸ˜‚πŸ‘€, like it's no big deal to pull out a gun in public. Anyway, I guess we'll have to wait and see how this all plays out... hoping for the best for everyone involved πŸ€žπŸ’•

πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Like, I'm so surprised. A former NFL star gets charged with attempted murder and suddenly he's released on bail? It's like they're trying to set a new record for "most egregious celebrity behavior". πŸ™„

I mean, come on Antonio Brown, you're 37 years old and you still think it's okay to just grab a gun from security and start firing away at someone who got into a fight with you? What's next, going to claim that the whole world is out to get you too? πŸ˜‚

And his lawyer is basically saying that the affidavit used to arrest him was incorrect because... he fired his own personal firearm in self-defense. Um, no thanks, buddy. That sounds like a solid excuse for trying to kill someone who didn't even know you existed 5 minutes prior. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

I guess it's good that Brown gets to return home and continue defending himself against the charges... by probably just avoiding any more social media controversies and hoping this whole thing blows over. πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ

idk how someone with so much wealth & fame can get involved in something like this πŸ€”πŸš¨ 25k bail seems kinda low considering he's facing up to 15 years in prison...isn't that gonna be tough on his family? πŸ’Έ and what if he doesn't show up for court? does the GPS ankle monitor help or is it just a way to keep an eye on him πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ and btw, why did this happen at a celebrity boxing match? was there some kind of rivalry between him & Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu? πŸ’₯

πŸ€” I'm just worried about Antonio Brown's situation... trying to defend himself with a gun in Miami sounds super crazy 🚫. If he was really just defending himself against someone stealing his jewelry, why did it escalate to shooting? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ And what if the person he shot was innocent? 😱 The fact that he's living in Dubai and now has a 12k bail is just shocking 🀯. His football career was pretty impressive, but I think this situation will be his downfall πŸ’”.

I'm really shocked about this, tbh 🀯. I mean, Antonio Brown was such an amazing football player, but now he's facing a serious charge like attempted murder? It just doesn't seem right. He's saying it was self-defense and all that, but still... it's hard to believe he'd actually do something like that. And what's with the whole thing about his lawyer claiming the affidavit is wrong? Doesn't that just make everything more suspicious? πŸ€” I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this all plays out in court. Fingers crossed for him, but also kinda hoping justice gets served 🀞.

πŸ€” so like brown's lawyer tries to spin this whole situation by saying he was defending himself but it just doesn't add up πŸ™„ like how can you just "fire" your own gun in self-defense without anyone else getting hurt? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ anyway, 25k bail seems pretty low considering the charges are attempted murder πŸ’Έ idk if brown would've gotten off scot-free if it wasn't for his famous status 😏 but still, a gps ankle monitor? that's just gonna be so embarrassing for him 🚫

Wow 🀯, this all sounds super crazy! Like, how did things go down at that boxing match? Was there some huge rivalry between Brown and Kwame Nantambu beforehand? I mean, a guy gets into a fight over jewelry? That's wild πŸ’Έ. And then he grabs a gun and fires two shots? It's like something out of a movie πŸŽ₯. Can't imagine how the other dude must be feeling now 😷.
