Former NFL Star Antonio Brown Released on Bail Amid Attempted Murder Charge in Miami
A Miami court handed down a relatively lenient sentence for former NFL star Antonio Brown, who has been charged with attempted murder. The 37-year-old wide receiver was ordered to pay $25,000 bail and wear a GPS ankle monitor as he awaits trial.
Brown, who pleaded not guilty to the second-degree charge, faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted. His lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, argued that his client would return to his home in Broward County and would be "zealously" defending himself against the charges.
The charges stem from a May 16 altercation at a celebrity boxing match in Miami, where Brown allegedly grabbed a handgun from a security staffer and fired two shots. One of the bullets grazed the neck of Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, who had gotten into a fistfight with Brown earlier. However, Brown's lawyer claims that the affidavit used to obtain the arrest warrant is incorrect, stating that Brown actually fired his own personal firearm in self-defense.
According to Eiglarsh, Brown was not fleeing and intended to turn himself in on the charges from Dubai, where he has been living for several months. The NFL star had claimed on social media that he was defending himself against multiple individuals who tried to steal his jewelry.
Brown spent 12 years in the NFL and is a four-time Pro Bowl selection. He holds numerous career records, including receptions (928) and total touchdowns (88).

from the nfl star we all loved watching on tv. i feel bad for him tho, 15 yrs in prison is a pretty harsh sentence considering he's pleaded not guilty 
and his lawyer claims it was self-defense. but like what even happened at that celebrity boxing match? it seems like it got out of hand real quick 
. i hope he can get through this trial and clear his name, because the nfl will definitely miss him on the field 
. I mean, yeah he was in a scuffle at this celebrity boxing match but trying to claim it was self-defense after grabbing a gun and firing shots? That's just wild

But what's good is that his lawyer said he was actin' in self-defense, so maybe justice will be served?

I know Antonio Brown had an amazing career, but attempted murder is not something you can just talk your way out of 
his actions were reckless and put someone's life in danger... 15 years could be too harsh, but the law has to be followed 
. 15 years in prison is a long time, especially when you're only 37... it's hard not to feel sad for the guy who used to be a superstar on the football field. I hope he gets the help and support he needs during this difficult time 
. On one hand, his lawyer is saying that he was just defending himself against some guys who were trying to steal his stuff 
. Either way, 15 years in prison seems pretty harsh for a guy with so many skills on the field
