Oh man this is such a huge weight off airlines' shoulders... I feel for all those passengers who got disrupted by those cancellations and delays it's always stressful when your travel plans get messed up. But now that flight restrictions are lifting, I'm sure many people will be breathing a sigh of relief and getting ready for the Thanksgiving break, fingers crossed everything runs smoothly . And yay to Congress for finally coming together and ending the shutdown that's definitely a positive step in the right direction
I'm kinda surprised they're lifting these restrictions so soon... don't get me wrong, safety should always be the top priority, but 2 months ago it was like they just threw everyone into a blender and hoped for the best . Staffing shortages at air traffic control facilities were definitely a problem, but did the FAA really need to limit flights by 90%? It's not like airlines are gonna fly by the seat of their pants (pun intended) now that they've had some time to adjust.
And what about enforcement? The FAA is still going to review and assess options for people who broke the rules, but I'm guessing it'll be a whole lot harder to catch those guys in the act . It's gonna be interesting to see how this all plays out, especially with travel season just around the corner... will we actually see some kind of recovery or is this just a Band-Aid solution?
