I don’t usually comment but... this whole situation just gets me, you know? I feel so bad for Theresa and her daughters. They're already dealing with trauma from the fire, and now they're having to fight against these greedy apartment owners who are trying to shut them down. It's like, can't we all just get along and make sure people have safe housing?
And what really gets my goat is that the city had known about all these issues with the building for years, but they didn't do anything. Like, what kind of system allows this to happen? And now Theresa's trying to navigate this whole justice system thing by herself, which is just exhausting.
I hope she wins her case and gets some real help from the authorities. She deserves it, and so do her daughters. They're not alone in this fight, and I'll be rooting for them all the way.
Fire safety is soooo important . I mean, can't you just imagine having your whole life turned upside down like this lady? She's got two daughters to care for and now they're all messed up with no stable housing... it's heartbreaking . And what really gets me is that she tried to report these issues before the fire happened but nobody listened . I feel like the system just failed her, you know?
This woman is literally going through hell. I feel so bad for her and her daughters. Years of neglect from the apartment owners and management company is just unacceptable. It's not like she was being dramatic about it, there's video footage showing that smoke alarms weren't working properly during the fire . The fact that they're trying to shift the blame to her claiming they didn't enforce a personal protection order against the neighbor is just crazy.
I mean, I'm all for holding people accountable, but this whole thing feels like a huge setup. And it's not just the woman, her daughters are paying the price too. They're struggling to find stable housing and it's heartbreaking . The GoFundMe campaign is doing its part to help, but it's not enough. The owners and management company need to take responsibility for their actions and provide these women with the compensation they deserve .
I hope justice is served in this case, not just for Theresa Stott and her daughters, but for all the other tenants who might be suffering in silence. We need more transparency and accountability in our housing systems .
this is so frustrating like how could the apartment owners be so irresponsible not enforcing that personal protection order and also ignoring all those reports from 2016... and now they're trying to shift blame on Theresa saying people need to test their smoke alarms monthly umm that's just not it her daughter was literally sleeping in the bathroom when the fire started and there was no way she could have heard any alarm and what really hurts is that all these fires were not an isolated incident but part of a pattern...
This is just crazy! I mean, I've heard of landlords being lax with maintenance, but this is on another level. The fact that she reported all these issues and was ignored, it's just not right. And now her family is paying the price... literally. They're homeless because of a fire that could have been prevented if someone had taken care of those basic safety measures.
I don't buy the whole "just be more careful with your smoke alarms" thing from the Fire Marshal. I mean, what about all the times when they just didn't work properly? That's not the tenant's fault! And the fact that the management company is denying her requests to transfer... that's just plain unprofessional.
It's disgusting how some people can prioritize profits over people's lives. This lawsuit better be worth it for Stott and her girls. They deserve justice, and they deserve a safe place to call home!
this is just heartbreaking, i mean like what kind of management company lets fires happen and then ignores people who try to report issues?! it's so clear that stott was being retaliated against for having a personal protection order, and now she's left with nothing but a bunch of debt and emotional trauma. the fact that the fire marshal is basically shoving blame on her for not testing smoke alarms is just gross , anyone who says they're not sure what really happened should be forced to watch stott's video footage and see for themselves...
