Gas explosion in San Francisco Bay Area injures at least six people

A Devastating Gas Explosion Rocks Hayward Neighborhood, Leaving Six Injured

In a shocking incident, a massive gas explosion ripped through a neighborhood in the San Francisco Bay Area on Thursday morning, leaving at least six people injured. The blast occurred after a construction crew accidentally damaged an underground gas line while working on Lewelling Boulevard.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with reports of buildings engulfed in flames and debris scattered everywhere. One resident, Brittany Maldonado, said she was shaken by the explosion, which felt like "a war video" coming to life. Her doorbell camera footage captured the shocking moment, showing a sudden and violent eruption that sent everything flying.

The Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) company confirmed that the damaged gas line had been reported earlier in the morning, with multiple leaks detected at around 9:25am local time. However, it was only about 10 minutes later that the explosion occurred, at 9:38am.

Firefighters responded quickly to the scene, with multiple engines and trucks racing to battle the inferno. Three buildings were extensively damaged by the fire, while another nearby building suffered "minor to major" damage. The injured victims were taken to hospital, but their condition was not immediately available.

The cause of the explosion is still under investigation, but it appears that a third-party construction crew's careless actions have left a trail of destruction and fear in its wake.

Whoa 🀯 just when you think Hayward can't get any more drama, right? Like, seriously though, six people injured and three buildings gone? That's not a drill, folks! I mean, what's next? A earthquake or two for good measure? πŸ˜‚ Anyway, gotta give props to the quick response from firefighters - that was fast. Not sure what's more concerning tho, the fact that they were able to respond so quickly or that the construction crew was, you know, being careless with live gas lines πŸ™„ Guess we'll just have to wait and see how this one unfolds...

🚨😱 this gas explosion thing is just insane, like what were those construction guys even thinking? they're supposed to be fixing infrastructure not destroying entire streets. and now people are injured and buildings are on fire... it's crazy how fast things escalated from a minor leak to a massive explosion. the fact that pg&e was notified earlier but still let it happen is just mind-boggling. i mean, what kind of safety protocols do you have when you're working with gas lines? it's just so frustrating and disheartening at the same time. 😀

😱 this is so crazy what if those 6 people had gotten hurt more badly or worse? like what if they weren't at home and their fams were affected too?! 🀯 the thought of it keeps me up, you feel? i'm just glad emergency services were there fast to help. construction crews gotta be held accountable for this, it's not right that someone else gets hurt cuz of their mistake 😑

Ugh, I'm still shaking thinking about this Hayward neighborhood gas explosion 🀯πŸ’₯😱... how did this even happen?! PG&E was warned about the damaged gas line 10 minutes before it blew up? Like, what's going on with those priorities? Can't they just get their act together to prevent something like this? And now we've got six people injured and buildings destroyed. So chaotic and scary! 🚨 I hope the investigation finds out who's responsible for the construction crew's carelessness and that justice is served πŸ’ͺ... meanwhile, can someone please fix this forum's annoying font formatting issues? πŸ˜’

😱 I just can't believe what happened in Hayward 🀯! Six people hurt, and multiple buildings destroyed... it's like something out of a movie πŸŽ₯. The thought of that gas line being damaged by some careless construction crew is just terrifying πŸ’€. And to think they only fixed the leak for 10 minutes before the explosion... it's just not right 😑.

I feel so bad for the people affected, especially those who lost their homes or businesses. πŸ€• They must be going through such a traumatic experience. And can you believe that PG&E didn't even know about the leak until it was too late? πŸ™„ It's just a miracle no one was killed in this disaster.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the victims and hoping the investigation reveals some answers soon 🀞. This is definitely a wake-up call for all of us to be more mindful of safety protocols and construction procedures πŸ’‘.

ugh this is so not right 😱 like what even is going on with these construction crews nowadays? can't they just do their jobs properly for once?! πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ and then you've got PG&E being all quiet about it till it's too late, that's just a whole other level of negligence 🚨 and the fact that people had to live through this horror show is just... *shakes head* so many buildings destroyed, so many lives affected... what even is the point of having safety protocols if they're not going to be taken seriously?! πŸ€” and the footage from Brittany's doorbell camera? that's just heart-stopping 😱 can't believe I'm writing about this all day because of some careless humans getting their job done all wrong πŸ’”

man this is crazy 😱... six people hurt by some accident during construction πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ... can't even imagine how scary it must've been for the eyewitnesses πŸ’₯... and that footage from Brittany's doorbell camera is wild πŸ“Ή... PG&E gotta make sure they're more careful with those gas lines ⚠️... hope everyone recovers from their injuries 🀞... and what a nightmare for the whole neighborhood 🏠😩

omg six people injured from a gas explosion in hayward πŸ€―β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜± can you even imagine your doorbell cam capturing the blast like brittany maldonado did? it sounds like something outta a war movie but its not a game guys πŸ’”πŸ˜· anyway, i hope those 6 people are ok and get the help they need ASAP. poor lewelling boulevard neighborhood 🚧πŸ’₯

😱 just heard about this crazy gas explosion in Hayward and i'm still shaking thinking about all those people who got hurt πŸ€• six injured?! that's like something out of a movie, not real life πŸ’₯ but seriously, can't we learn from this? construction workers gotta be more careful, y'all! πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ and PG&E gotta do better too. accidents like these make me think about the little things we take for granted, you know? gas lines, roads, buildings... all of it's just a matter of safety & responsibility πŸ™ anyway, glad no one lost their life... let's keep our fingers crossed that everyone recovers 🀞

🚨πŸ’₯ Ugh, this is so sad πŸ€•! Gas explosions are super rare but they can be so devastating πŸ”₯. The footage from the doorbell camera is insane 😲... it's like something out of a movie πŸŽ₯. I'm glad the firefighters were able to respond quickly and save some of the buildings πŸš’.

I feel for the people who live in that neighborhood, it must be super scary 😨. The cause of the explosion is still being investigated, but it's clear that someone's careless actions led to this πŸ’”. PG&E should really double-check their infrastructure before letting construction crews work on the lines πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

It's also concerning that there were multiple leaks detected at 9:25am and the explosion didn't happen until 10 minutes later ⏰. Was it just a coincidence or was something more sinister going on? We'll have to wait for the investigation results to find out πŸ”.

.. what a harsh reminder of our world's fragility πŸŒͺ️ this devastating gas explosion has shaken the Hayward neighborhood to its core. It's a stark contrast to the chaos and beauty we see in war videos, isn't it? The construction crew's careless mistake brought destruction & fear into people's lives - let that be a lesson to us all about responsibility & attention to detail πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

We can always learn from others' mistakes, but how many times do we have to see the consequences of our own actions before we take heed? I'm grateful for the bravery & quick response of firefighters at the scene - it's a shining example of selflessness & community spirit ❀️.

omg this is so scary!! how are these people supposed to recover from this?? πŸ€•πŸ˜± the whole neighborhood must be traumatized πŸŒͺ️ i'm just hoping everyone who got hurt is going to be okay πŸ’• it's like a war zone, but in real life... and for someone to accidentally damage an underground gas line? 😳 that's just not safe 🚨 at all πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ

omg this is so crazy 🀯 what if those 6 people were at home with their fam? πŸ™ anyway gotta say, I'm all about being safe on the job & taking those precautions seriously πŸ’Ό construction workers r our heroes but they need to be more careful πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ & we need better infrastructure in places like hayward 😩 PG&E needs to step up their game too πŸ‘Š safety first 4 everyone πŸ”’ hopefully the investigation finds out what went wrong so it can't happen again πŸ’‘

just when u think california is all sunshine & rainbows...😩 gotta wonder how many lives were put at risk b4 PG&E even knew there was an issue with the gas line πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ can't stress enough how careless those construction crew's actions were πŸ‘Ž next thing u know, it could've been a disaster 😨

just heard about this crazy gas explosion in hayward 🚨😱 i cant believe people could be so careless with our safety like what if those 6 injured peeps were family members?? it makes me wanna yell at the construction crew who did that! anyway, gotta give a shoutout to those firefighters who rushed into the scene and saved ppl's lives, they're real heroes πŸ™πŸš’

ugh what a nightmare this must've been for those people 😱!! six injured is way too many and I can only imagine how traumatic it must've been to witness such a disaster firsthand 🀯. how crazy that the construction crew accidentally damaged an underground gas line - it's like they were playing with fire literally πŸ”₯. and can you believe PG&E had multiple leaks detected before but didn't take action? that's just reckless πŸ™„. anyway, I hope all the injured get better soon and the community comes together to support each other πŸ’•. this whole thing is a huge wake-up call for construction companies to be more responsible and careful with their work πŸ‘Š.

omg this is so crazy what if one of my classmates was there when it happened? i feel bad for the ppl who got hurt they're really lucky to be alive πŸ€•πŸ˜“ i'm shaking thinking about what could've been. and the part where they said it felt like a war video coming to life is literally so scary... my heart is still racing just thinking about it πŸ˜…πŸ‘€ i wish something like this didn't happen in our community we should all be more careful with stuff like that πŸ’”πŸ’₯

😬 this is just crazy... a gas explosion in broad daylight? how did no one see or hear about the damaged line beforehand? it sounds like some serious negligence. anyway, glad to hear that firefighters responded quickly to put out the fire. 6 injured people is way too many... hope they're okay 🀞 and btw, what kind of construction crew doesn't know their stuff? πŸ€”

🀯 u no wut s crazy abt dis? like, gas exp lsn is nt somethin u see on a war vid lol πŸ˜‚. i mean, who expects 2 b walking down da block & suddenly BAM! ur doorbell cam's got a front row seat 2 a movie 🍿. but rn, we gotta think bout da people involved - 6 hurt, 3 buildings go up in flames... that's just devastating πŸ’”. esp since it was bc of careless construction crew work. they really need 2 take responsibility & make sure their actions dont harm others πŸ™. and poor PG&E - sounds like they're gettin a bad rap right now 😐. anywayz, hoping all da injured ppl r doin alright & dat da investigation gets 2 da bottom of it πŸ’―
