I'M SO FRUSTRATED WITH THIS ADAPTATION!!! 
IT'S LIKE THEY TOOK A GREAT BOOK AND JUST REDUCED IT TO A SHALLOW, OVER-THE-TOP MUSICAL. THE SET DESIGN IS WAY TOO FLASHY AND DOESN'T EVEN FEEL LIKE PANEM ANYMORE. AND KATNISS'S STORY FEELS LIKE SHE'S JUST NARRATING HER OWN LIFE ON STAGE - IT'S SO ARTIFICIAL! 
AND THE SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE JUST THERE TO DISTRACT FROM HOW LACKING IN CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT THIS PRODUCTION IS...

katniss is literally just narrating her own life story on stage and it's so not convincing lol what's up with that? 
also, the set design is straight outta a circus 
but honestly, i was low-key entertained by mia carragher's dancing skills 
the special effects are wild tho, especially john malkovich as president snow 
but for real, this show needs to get its act together and actually explore the themes of oppression and exploitation that the book is all about 
still, it's a fun spectacle and not a total waste of time
