Gaza: Israeli strike kills five, including two children, says civil defence agency

At least five people, including two children aged eight and 10, have been killed in an Israeli strike on Palestinian territory near Khan Younis. The strike hit a shelter camp near the Kuwaiti field hospital in the area, also causing injuries to several others, some of whom are seriously wounded.

The Gaza civil defence agency reported that the victims were found in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, where the Israeli missile struck the target. Meanwhile, Israel claimed it had targeted a "Hamas terrorist" who was involved in a clash with Palestinian militants in the area, resulting in five soldiers being wounded during the encounter.

The fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which began on October 10th, has largely ceased fighting between the two sides. However, both parties have accused each other of violating its terms, sparking renewed tensions.

According to the Israeli military, clashes broke out in eastern Rafah, where soldiers encountered several militants emerging from an underground terrorist infrastructure. The soldiers were severely and moderately injured during the encounter, with three additional soldiers killed by Palestinian fire since the ceasefire began.

The health ministry in Gaza reported that 360 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the ceasefire, while Israel's military has only reported three soldiers killed during this period.

United Nations Secretary-General AntΓ³nio Guterres expressed concern over the "fundamentally wrong" way Israel conducted its military operation in the Gaza Strip, stating that there were strong reasons to believe war crimes had been committed.

πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Can you imagine having a shelter camp near a Kuwaiti field hospital and thinking it's a good idea to drop a missile on it? Like, what's next? They're going to have a "surprise" party in Gaza with Hamas as the guest of honor πŸ˜‚. Seriously though, 5 kids under 11 killed is just devastating. Israel says they were after a "Hamas terrorist", but sounds like someone got caught trying to sneak into the snack room with all the Froot Loops 🍞️

πŸ˜• my heart is breaking for those innocent kids and their families, you never think of a life lost just because of politics... it's like they're just pawns on the board πŸ€• and nobody cares about them πŸ™„. Israel's explanation sounds like some BS to me, how can targeting a 'terrorist' who wasn't even in the area at that time be considered a legitimate military op? πŸ€” and btw what even is Hamas doing with those kids caught up in their fight? πŸš«πŸ‘§

This is getting outta hand 😩 360 Palestinians dead & Israel claims they're just fighting terrorists? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ UN says it's a war crime 🚨 and I'm not surprised

πŸ€• another day, another innocent life lost... 5 people, including those 2 kids, just minding their own biz in a shelter camp and BAM! Israeli missiles start flying. Like, what even is the point of a ceasefire if you're just gonna keep striking? And now UN says war crimes might've been committed? 🀝 it's like they're saying "we told ya so". Israel always thinks they're above the law, but I'm calling BS on this one. Both sides are to blame, no doubt about it. πŸ’”

Ugh man... can't believe what's happening in Gaza πŸ˜”. Back in my day, we thought wars were a thing of the past, but I guess some things never change. πŸ€• It's just so sad to see all these innocent people getting caught in the middle of this conflict. Those kids who got killed, 8 and 10 years old... it's just heartbreaking 😒. And now the UN is saying that war crimes have been committed? It's like, we already knew something was up with Israel's military operations 🀯. Can't they just talk things out like civilized people? πŸ’¬ It's all so frustrating πŸ™„.

πŸ€• This latest strike by Israel is just devastating... I mean, what's going on here? We've got a fragile ceasefire that's supposed to be holding, but it seems like both sides are just waiting for the other to slip up so they can launch another attack.

I'm not surprised that there were civilians caught in the crossfire - that's always the case in these conflicts. But 5 people killed, including two kids? That's just heartbreaking. And what's really disturbing is that Israel claims it was targeting a "Hamas terrorist", but if that's true, why did they hit a shelter camp where civilians were seeking refuge?

The numbers are staggering - 360 Palestinians killed and no apparent response from Israel to stop the violence. It's like they're just letting it happen over there. And now the UN is saying that war crimes might have been committed? That's not good.

It's like we're stuck in this cycle of violence, and I don't see how anyone can justify the loss of life on either side. Can't we find a way to talk things out instead of resorting to more violence? πŸ€”

πŸ€• my heart is literally breaking for all those innocent lives lost πŸŒͺ️ 5 kids under 11 and it's just not right πŸ’” i don't think any of us can even begin to understand what the world would be like if we were in their shoes, living in a place where violence is always looming over you. 🀯 and the ceasefire, which was supposed to bring some peace, has basically fallen apart again 🚫 it's so frustrating when both sides just keep accusing each other of not following the rules... can't they just talk to each other? πŸ—£οΈ

πŸ€• This is just getting out of hand... 5 people including kids under 11 killed by an Israeli strike? It's not even a direct attack on Hamas but still hits a shelter camp πŸ₯😱. I mean, what was Israel thinking hitting the Kuwaiti field hospital area? Did they really need to make it that much worse? πŸ’”

I'm so tired of these back-and-forth escalations between Israelis and Palestinians. It's like, can't you guys just talk things out instead of resorting to violence? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I feel bad for the families of those killed... 360 Palestinians lost their lives since the ceasefire started? That's a lot of innocent people caught in the crossfire πŸ’”.

And what's with Israel saying it was targeting Hamas militants when they're not even at the scene? πŸ˜’ It just seems like more propaganda to me. I hope the UN Secretary-General is right that war crimes were committed here... we need some accountability, you know? βš–οΈ

πŸ€• what's going on here?! five innocent lives lost, including two kids... can't even imagine how their families are gonna cope with this πŸ˜” and now the ceasefire is all but over? it feels like we're stuck in some never-ending cycle of violence. i'm not buying that Israeli strike was just about a "Hamas terrorist" - sounds like they were just looking for an excuse to unleash their missiles 🚫 and what's with all these soldiers getting hurt on both sides? it's just so senseless... UN Secretary-General is right, war crimes have been committed here... we need some serious accountability πŸ’”
