Google Photos now lets you describe how to transform images into video

Google Photos just got a significant upgrade: users can now describe how they want their still images to be transformed into videos. The new feature, which is currently only available for users aged 18 and above, allows for much more control over the resulting video, moving away from the previously limited options of "Subtle Movement" and "I'm feeling lucky."

This update gives users a chance to enter their own text prompts to guide the AI's video generation, providing instant inspiration or fine-tuning the results. For example, someone could describe the style of movement they want to see in an image-to-video conversion – maybe a smooth dance or something more whimsical.

Google says that prompt suggestions will be provided to help users get started, and the text prompts themselves can be edited for more precise control over the video generation process.

However, some caveats apply. This new feature isn't available everywhere just yet; and there's also an age restriction – only users aged 18 or above are allowed to use it.

Additionally, Google Photos' generative AI features still aren't available in all regions and may vary by location. But for those who can access this feature, they'll have the ability to produce videos directly from their images with a few clicks, perfect for sharing online without needing extra editing.

Lastly, users can now include audio by default in every video created using the image-to-video feature, making it possible to share videos straight away without needing additional tweaking. And in another update, Google Photos introduced a new picker for Gmail that makes it easier to send images and videos from your albums, collections, or shared albums via email – allowing multiple selections at once and searching by album names.

😏 come on google, why 18+ only? like, what's the problem with little kids having some fun with their photos 🤔. it's not like they're gonna get hacked or anything 🙄. just a bunch of unnecessary age restriction if you ask me 💁‍♀️. but i guess its good that they gave us some cool new features now 👍. like, being able to add audio by default is super convenient 🎧. and the new picker for gmail is a game changer 📦👀

I'm not sure about this new upgrade to Google Photos... I mean, don't get me wrong, having more control over how your images are turned into videos is pretty cool, but are we really spending that much time thinking about the animation style of our holiday pics? 🤔 I also wonder if the fact that it's only available for 18+ is just a way to try and capture older users who might be on the cusp of retiring. Plus, what's with all the emphasis on having "prompt suggestions" - isn't that just going to make the AI do more work for us? 🙄 And what about people who don't feel comfortable sharing their prompts in public... will they get some kind of private mode or something? Anyway, I'm curious to see how this plays out, but I'm not convinced it's a game-changer 📸

Ugh, can't believe they're still testing this feature 🤦‍♂️. Only 18+? Like, what's the point of having a platform that's supposed to be all about accessibility if you're gonna limit it like this? And don't even get me started on the region restrictions... it's just another thing for Google to mess with 🙄. And have you seen the prompts they're providing? "Smooth dance" or "whimsical"... how are we supposed to come up with our own stuff if they can only give us these cookie-cutter suggestions? 😒 Still, I guess it's a step in the right direction... now if only they'd fix this glitchy upload process on mobile 🤯.

omg u guys 🤯 just found out about google photos' new upgrade!!! now we can basically tell the AI exactly what kinda vibe we want for our image-to-video vids 🎥📹 it's like having total control over the transformation process, no more random vids 🙅‍♂️ i'm already thinking of all the sick vids i wanna make with my fave memories 💭 and btw who needs extra editing when u can just use google photos' new feature?! 😎 also cool that we can now add audio to our vids by default 📹💬 it's gonna make sharing online so much easier 🔥

OMG 🤩 just tried out the new Google Photos feature & its SO COOL!!! I mean who needs that much control over their vids lol? But if ur a creative person or wanna make some sick vids for ur followers, then this is def the way 2 go 😎 U can literally describe how u want it 2 look and feel and voila! instant vid magic ✨ Its like havin ur own personal director's chair 👀 I did a test w/ prompt suggestions & it actually worked pretty well 🤔 only downside is its not available everywhere yet but when it is, u'll be makin vids in no time 💥

this is so cool! 🤩 i mean, being able to describe exactly how you want an image turned into a video... it's like having total creative control. i was wondering when google would add this feature because it makes sense that it would be popular with people who are always on the go and need vids of their pics for social media or whatever.

i'm not sure about the age restriction though... 18 seems kinda young to me? but maybe thats just me being an oldie 😂. i do love the idea of getting prompt suggestions from google, that's gonna be super helpful for newbies who aren't sure what kind of text prompts to use.

and omg yeah, including audio by default in videos is a game changer... can't wait to start making vids with my friends and family! 🎥👫

Just saw this and I'm super stoked! I love how Google is pushing the boundaries of AI, now we can actually tell our photos what kinda vibe we want when it turns into a vid 🤩. It's like having total control over the process – no more guessing games. And being able to add audio by default? Game changer for sharing online. Plus, the new Gmail picker is so convenient for sending pics and vids to friends or family. Can't wait to see what else they come up with!

omg i'm lowkey hyped about this new google photos feature 🤩! finally, we get to have more control over how our still pics turn into vids 📹 it's like having a personal video editor right in the app 🔥 no more relying on those basic "subtle movement" options or "i'm feeling lucky" vibes. now we can input our own text prompts and see what magic happens ✨ it's so cool that google is providing suggestions to get us started, but also giving us the freedom to edit and fine-tune as much as we want 💻 sounds like a game-changer for creators and social media enthusiasts alike 📸

I'm so down with this new feature 🤩! It's amazing how much more control we get over our photo-to-video conversions now. I can already think of using it to make some fun videos for my little ones' birthday party 🎂... they're going to love seeing themselves as superheroes or in their favorite cartoon characters 😄. And the fact that we can add audio by default is a total game-changer - no more worrying about finding the right music to match our creations 🎵! I'm also loving the new picker for Gmail, it's so much easier to share all my kiddo's latest and greatest moments with Grandma 💕. Only thing I wish was that this feature wasn't restricted to 18+ just yet - I feel like my 10-year-old would love playing around with it too 🤔... but I guess we'll have to wait a bit longer for the kids to grow up 😊!

I'm so stoked about this new upgrade for Google Photos! 🤩 I mean, being able to describe how you want your pics turned into vids is literally genius. I was trying out the 'Subtle Movement' thing before and it just didn't do justice to my fave memories. Now I can enter something like 'funny dance' or 'whimsical animation' and voilà! Instant vid magic 😊 The prompt suggestions are also super helpful, so even if you're not sure what you want, they give you some ideas to work with. And being able to include audio by default is a total game-changer - I love that I can just share vids straight away without having to mess around with them afterwards. One thing I'm kinda bummed about is the age restriction tho... 18 and up? That's kinda steep, right? 🤷‍♀️

Just saw this update on Google Photos 🤩... think it's gonna be super useful for people who want more control over their image-to-video conversions 👍. The new text prompts thingy is like having instant inspiration or being able to fine-tune the results 💡. But yeah, it's only available for 18+ users atm, and I wonder how they'll implement this in regions with different AI settings 🤔. Guess it's gonna be a fun way to make some cool vids without needing extra editing tools 📹. Not sure if it's gonna revolutionize the internet or whatever, but hey, more power to users who wanna get creative! 💻

🤩 This is such awesome news! I mean, who doesn't want to turn their fave pics into sick vids? 😎 The fact that you can now give the AI a text prompt to get the exact vibe you're going for is a total game-changer 🔄. I'm low-key already imagining all the creative vids I'll make with this new feature 📹👀. But, gotta say, it's a bit weird that there's an age restriction 🤔 - like, what's up with that? 😕 Can't we all just have access to this awesome tech? 💁‍♀️ Anyway, the audio inclusion is a major win 🎵 and I love that you can now pick pics from Gmail easily 📨. Bring on the vids! 📺

I think this is a game-changer for Google Photos! 🤩 The fact that users can now describe how they want their still images transformed into videos gives me so much control over the final product. I mean, who doesn't love making funny videos from their own photos? 😂 It's also super cool that prompt suggestions will be provided to help users get started - no more scrolling through endless options! 💡 And including audio by default is just perfect for sharing online straight away.

However, I do wish it was available to everyone, regardless of age. Like, what's the harm in 13-17 year olds using this feature? 🤔 Maybe Google can reconsider that part later on.

But overall, I'm loving the updates! The new picker for Gmail looks super convenient too - no more digging through folders to find that one photo you want to send 😅.
