West Virginia Guardman Makes Slow Progress After DC Shooting, Governor Offers Update
Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, a 24-year-old West Virginia Army National Guard member, is slowly healing from his head injury sustained in a shooting incident in Washington D.C. last week. According to Gov. Patrick Morrisey's statement, Wolfe's condition has improved, and he "is beginning to look more like himself."
Wolfe was one of over 2,000 troops deployed to the nation's capital as part of President Donald Trump's crime-fighting initiative. He and another guard member, Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, were ambushed on November 26 while patrolling a subway station near the White House. Beckstrom died the following day.
Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan national who was also shot during the encounter, has been charged with murder and is pleading not guilty. Wolfe's family has received support from Senator Shelley Moore Capito, who has held a picture of Wolfe at a news conference.
Wolfe is expected to remain in acute care for two to three more weeks. Gov. Morrisey has asked West Virginians to continue praying for his recovery. A vigil was planned for Friday night at Wolfe's alma mater, Musselman High School in Berkeley County.

this is crazy!! I mean, can you even imagine being in their shoes?!

. And poor Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, rest her soul 
. I'm sending all my positive vibes for Wolfe's recovery - it's a miracle he's even still alive 
! Two more weeks in acute care is a long time, but at least his family has Sen Moore Capito looking out for him

this is some crazy stuff going on with Sgt Wolfe... so he's making progress but like 2-3 more weeks to recover? that's a looong time... i wonder what the docs think is gonna take to get him back to full strength 
and btw, who needs a vigil at his high school when you got the whole nation praying for him

like, seriously though, can't they just give him some actual updates instead of saying he's starting to look more like himself? what does that even mean? did his hair get better? 
btw, 2k troops deployed for a crime-fighting initiative... sounds like a total waste of resources if you ask me. and what's with the Afghan national getting charged with murder already? feels kinda rushed 
now we're stuck with the harsh reality of war & guns 
and it's just not right 
but it's also got me thinking about resilience, you know? Sgt. Wolfe is literally fighting for his life and yet he's still holding on to hope... that's the kinda strength we all need when things get tough. and let's not forget about the support system - his family, Senator Capito, even strangers like us who are reading about it online... we can't be more human than that 
. it just goes to show that even in darkness, there's always a glimmer of light if you know where to look. btw, two weeks feels like forever for someone going through this, but I guess that's the thing about time - it keeps moving whether we like it or not
