I'm kinda weirded out by this whole thing ... I mean, I get why they wanna protect kids from social media's negative stuff, but banning it entirely? That sounds super unfair on the other side . Like, what about all the good things on Instagram that actually help people like, find new friends or join clubs related to their interests? And what if some teens use encrypted messaging apps or something that aren't included in the ban? It just seems so complicated and hard to enforce . I guess only time will tell how it all goes down...
I'm still thinking about the kids in Aus who are gonna try 2 find ways 2 circumvent the ban lol I mean, it's cool that they're passionate about social media but we gotta think about their well-being too. My friend's kid is already trying to sneak in some TikTok during school hours . It's like, we get that you wanna keep them safe, but have u considered the potential impact on their digital literacy skills? Like, how are they gonna navigate online spaces responsibly if they're not allowed to use social media?
OMG, I'm totally on board with Australia's bold move ! Like, can you imagine if all kids could just chill without social media for a bit? It's gonna be so great for their mental health and stuff . I mean, I know some people are worried about them finding it online elsewhere, but like, that's not the point, right? The algorithm is what's causing all the harm, not individual kids . And honestly, if it means parents can just have a break from their kids' drama and worry less about social media , then I'm 100% for it !
I think the idea of banning kids from social media until they're 16 is kinda like trying to stop a tsunami with a broken umbrella ... you can try, but it's not gonna work that easily! And what about all those kids who already know how to use social media? They'll just find ways around the ban and still be exposed to online risks .
I mean, I get where the government is coming from β mental health is super important and all that β but have they thought this through? It's not like kids are gonna magically become brainless robots if they can't scroll through Instagram .
idk about dis law ... think it's kinda harsh for kids 2 b banned from social media til they r 16 tho . soundz like a lot of kids would stil find ways 2 get online . dont no if it'll even work in practice... jus wanna see how it plays out over time
Australia's 16+ social media ban is kinda cool, I guess Some people think it's a grand idea to protect young minds from the bad stuff online but others are like "what about when they just wanna scroll through TikTok anyway?!"
