Here's how the MBTA did during and after the snowstorm

MBTA Services Resume to "Very Close to Normal", Except for Ferry Service, After Weekend Snowstorm.

Crews were already digging stations and signals out of the snow on Sunday afternoon as the storm intensified, with transit officials saying they had worked well in advance of the blizzard. Despite extensive disruptions, MBTA services largely continued through the weekend's snowstorm, according to General Manager Phil Eng.

Service on the Mattapan Line was replaced with shuttle buses on both Sunday and Monday due to damage from the nearly 80-year-old trains. However, the Red, Orange, Green, and Blue lines generally ran on schedule, although commuters experienced delays at several stops during the storm.

The Green Line branches saw the most disruptions, particularly around Dean Road and Washington Street. Multiple vehicles blocked tracks along Huntington Avenue, suspending service between Brigham Circle and Heath Street. The E Branch was also affected by a disabled train blocking the tracks near Kent Street.

Despite these challenges, MBTA officials said services resumed to "very close to normal" across the entire system on Monday, with buses running on normal weekend schedules in most areas and snow routes taking precedence for dozens of bus routes that operate through tight streets. The Hingham/Hull ferry service was suspended due to slush and ice in the harbor.

As crews continued to clear snow from the MBTA system ahead of Tuesday's commute, officials expressed optimism that services would be fully restored by morning.

❄️ just got back from weekend snowstorm 🌨️ and i'm relieved they were able to get most services up and running πŸ™Œ tho ferry service was a no-go for me πŸš£β€β™€οΈ gotta feel for all the hingham/hull commuters πŸ€— anyway, crews doin great job clearin out snow πŸ§ŠπŸ”¨ gonna be back to normal soon ⏰πŸ’ͺ

I'm glad they were able to get most of the trains back up and running after that crazy weekend snowstorm 🌨️. I mean, 80-year-old trains are like, ancient or something? So it's not surprising they got damaged in all that mess.

But seriously, the MBTA crew did a great job getting out there and clearing the tracks ASAP. And yay for shuttle buses on the Mattapan Line! That was probably super helpful for commuters who couldn't get to work because of the trains being down 🚌.

I'm just glad it's back to pretty normal now, minus that Hingham/Hull ferry service being out. Snow in the harbor is no joke, I guess 😬. But overall, I think it's great that they were able to get services back up and running so quickly. Fingers crossed everything stays on track (pun intended!) from here on out πŸš‚.

I'm glad they were able to dig themselves out of this mess...literally! I mean, 80-year-old trains are like my grandma - old school, but still kicking πŸ˜‚. The Green Line branches were a real "train wreck" (sorry, had to!), but I guess you could say the rest of the system was just "on track" again πŸš‚. Buses taking precedence over the tight streets? Sounds like a plan to me! And let's be real, who needs a ferry service when it's snowing outside? It's like they're saying, "Hey, skip the boat and grab a bus instead...of freezing your buns off!" ❄️

So they just got back on track, literally πŸš‚πŸ’¨ after that big snowstorm! I'm glad the Red, Orange, Green, and Blue lines were able to run pretty much as scheduled, considering all the disruptions they faced 🀞. The shuttle bus thingy for Mattapan Line was kinda a pain, but I guess it's better than nothing πŸ˜’. It's crazy how crews got in there and started digging out the snow on Sunday afternoon - talk about staying on top of things! πŸ‘ And now that ferry service is still down due to those pesky ice and slushy waters... I hope they get back to normal soon πŸš«πŸ’¦

πŸš‚πŸ’¨ just got word that the MBTA is back on track (literally!) after that crazy snowstorm! I mean, 80-year-old trains are old news, but still - can you imagine dealing with frozen tracks and delayed buses? 🀯 At least they were prepping ahead of time, which is more than I can say for some of my own winter prep attempts... just got done making a batch of hot cocoa and now it's time to get back to work! β˜•οΈπŸ’Ό

I'm just glad they were able to get most of the trains up and running again after that crazy snowstorm πŸ™! I mean, 80 years old trains getting damaged is pretty wild 🀯. And can you believe the Red Line was actually pretty smooth? Like, kudos to them for pulling it off.

I'm also kinda bummed they had to replace the Mattapan Line with shuttle buses, but at least they were proactive about preparing ahead of time ❄️. I feel like the Green Line branches getting hit hard is a bit of an understatement though πŸ˜… - it's like they went straight into war zone mode!

And omg, who knew the ferry service would get shut down due to slush and ice? 🌊 It's just another thing for them to deal with on top of all that snow. But I guess it's not a huge surprise since we're basically in winter now ❄️.

πŸ˜’ I'm so done with these weekend snowstorms! Like seriously, can't we just have one month without them?! Anyway, I was really surprised they were able to get the service back up and running so quickly, considering it's been ages since the trains got some maintenance πŸš‚. I do feel bad for those shuttle buses on the Mattapan Line though, 80-year-old trains shouldn't be having this kind of drama 😩.

I'm glad to hear that the Red lines were mostly on schedule, even if commuters did get a bit frustrated with delays at certain stops. And ugh, who thought it was a good idea to have service affected by a disabled train 🚫? Just great, so now I'll be spending my Tuesday morning dealing with more delays... can't we just get to work already?! ⏰

I'm surprised they only had to suspend the ferry service for Monday πŸ€”. I mean, it's not like they expected the storm to just magically disappear on Sunday afternoon πŸ˜‚. And 80-year-old trains? That's like, ancient technology! They should've upgraded those by now. Anyway, glad to hear services are mostly back to normal, but still, that Green Line was a mess... Dean Road and Washington Street? 🚧 Come on, how hard is it to clear the tracks there? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

😊 gotta say, 80-year-old trains are like our grandpas, they still got it going on! πŸ˜‚ but seriously, can't believe how close to normal things got after that crazy snowstorm 🌨️. I mean, the Green Line branches were a bit of a mess, but at least they're back on track now (no pun intended). Buses running on normal weekend schedules is a win in my books! πŸšŒπŸ’¨ And I feel bad for those Hingham/Hull ferry passengers who got stuck with the boat service πŸ˜”. Crews doing their thing and clearing snow all day, that's dedication! πŸ’ͺ Fingers crossed they'll get everything sorted by morning 🀞

This whole thing just highlights how our public transportation systems are so vulnerable to weather events 🌨️. I mean, we're lucky it wasn't worse considering how well-prepared crews were for the storm. But, at what cost? The fact that Mattapan Line trains got damaged and had to be replaced with shuttle buses raises questions about funding priorities ⚠️. Shouldn't our public transportation system be able to withstand a little snow without having to sacrifice service quality? It's like, we're paying taxes for this service, shouldn't it be reliable enough for us to rely on?

Ugh, I'm just glad the snow storm wasn't a total disaster 🀞! I mean, 80-year-old trains? That's like, totally ancient technology lol. Glad they were able to dig out the stations and signals in time, but those Green Line branches? What a mess! I rode the bus on Monday and it was so bad, but at least buses were running on schedule. And can we talk about how many bus routes got snowed in? Like, what's the plan for that? But overall, I'm just happy they're back to "normal" πŸ™Œ. The ferry service is a bummer tho, hope it gets fixed soon. Let's just get through Tuesday and hopefully the rest of the week is smooth sailing 😊

πŸ€” I mean, can you believe how well the MBTA crew handled this massive snowstorm? I was worried they'd be down for days, but they actually worked super hard to get everything back up and running so quickly! πŸ™Œ Yeah, some of the lines were a bit wonky, but overall it's not like they completely shut down or anything. And let's be real, the shuttle buses on the Mattapan Line aren't even that bad - it's just an old train that needs a little TLC, right? 😊 The fact that buses ran on normal weekend schedules in most areas is actually kinda impressive considering how deep the snow was. And as for the ferry service being out? I mean, come on, it's not like they're gonna get a free pass because of it 🚫. Anyway, I'm stoked that services are back to "very close to normal" and I'm sure everyone else is too! πŸ‘

Ugh, my kid's school bus broke down last night because of all the snow 🚧😩. They had to send a shuttle bus for like an hour and now she's still on time 😊... I guess the MBTA did a good job considering it was a huge storm ❄️. But, seriously, can't we just have warm weather for once? My poor kid's cold toes are killing me πŸ‘£πŸ˜‚. On a more serious note, I do hope they get the ferry service up and running soon 🚨, that would be a big help for all those commuters who rely on it.

I'm not surprised the Ferry service is still down 🚫. It's been a rough winter so far and our infrastructure isn't exactly built for this kinda thing. Still, I gotta give it to the MBTA crew, they're already digging us out of the snow 24/7 - that's some serious dedication. Sunday afternoon was a close call, but they got everything back on track (literally) by Monday morning. Now let's just hope they can keep up with the maintenance and we don't have another mess like this in a few weeks 🀞

I don’t usually comment but I feel bad for those train crews who worked so hard over the weekend digging out the tracks and signals. 80 years old trains taking a hit like that is crazy. And yeah ferry service getting shut down because of ice in the harbor makes sense, you can't really control nature's messes. But still pretty impressive how the MBTA kept most services running despite all that. I do wonder though how they're gonna keep those trains fixed and what it's gonna cost the taxpayers.

I'm not surprised about the MBTA services resuming close to normal after that weekend snowstorm 🌨️. I mean, they did say they had been prepping for it in advance and all πŸ•’οΈ. The fact that some trains were damaged on the Mattapan Line is pretty common, you know? Those old trains are basically held together with duct tape πŸ˜‚. And yeah, delays at certain stops are no big deal, right? It's just a minor inconvenience compared to what could've happened πŸ™.

I'm not complaining or anything, but it's kinda awesome that the shuttle buses on the Mattapan Line worked out okay in the end 🚌. I mean, they saved the day or whatever πŸ˜…. And hey, at least they were able to get the Hingham/Hull ferry service back up and running... eventually ⏰. The whole thing just goes to show how resilient our transit system is πŸ’ͺ. Bring on Tuesday!

I'm telling ya... I'm all for the MBTA getting back on track after that crazy weekend storm 🌨️... but at the same time, can't they just leave some of those old trains alone? They're like 80 years old, it's not like they're gonna break or anything! πŸ˜’ But then again, think about all the disruption it caused and how much stress it must've put on commuters... maybe it was for the best that those old trains got replaced with shuttle buses. Ugh, I don't know what to make of it πŸ€”

I'm so relieved they were able to get most of the trains back up & running πŸ™Œ! 80-year-old trains is crazy, though... how do they even fix those old trains? πŸ€” Still, I guess it's good they were able to keep services running on schedule for the Red, Orange, Green & Blue lines. Commuters must've been stressing out during that snowstorm 😩. At least they got the shuttle buses out for Mattapan Line, so people could still get around. Now I'm just hoping they can fix those tracks ASAP 🚧. Anyone else stuck in traffic on Monday? πŸš—

I'm kinda surprised how quickly the MBTA crew got the trains back up and running after that massive snowstorm 🀯. I mean, 80-year-old trains took a beating, but they still managed to get most of the lines up and running on schedule. Still, I can imagine it was a real challenge, especially with those Green Line branches getting slammed by delays πŸš‚. And I totally forgot about that ferry service – hope they got it sorted out for Tuesday's commuters ⛅️.
