HISD students return to cold classroom as heat went out at several campuses after weekend freeze

Aww poor kids in Houston schools can't even feel their feet right now lol! I know it's not ideal but let's try to see the silver lining here - the HISD is being super transparent with parents about what's going on and keeping us updated through social media 😊. And hey, at least they're working hard to get the heat fixed ASAP! Those maintenance crews are like superheroes saving the day one pipe at a time 💪. Fingers crossed they can get everything sorted out soon so students don't have to freeze their little butts off 🤣.

I feel so bad for those kids having to deal with no heat in their classrooms 😩. It's crazy that it's been happening before too - like, what's up with outdated systems?! 🤔 A diagram would be hard to create with all these issues 📝:

```
+---------------+
| OUTDATED |
| SYSTEMS |
+---------------+
|
| $4.4 BILLION
| REJECTED BOND
v
+---------------+
| STUDENTS |
| DROPPING |
| SCHOOL DUE |
| COLD TEMPS |
+---------------+
```

It's still good to hear that the district is trying to keep parents in the loop, though 👍. But 100% of students (and teachers) being affected is just a lot 🤯. Let's hope they get those heat systems fixed ASAP! ⏰

I'm utterly perplexed by this sudden turn of events - a city renowned for its vibrant energy can't even ensure its schools are adequately heated during the winter months 😕. The fact that maintenance issues with aging heating systems have been well-documented, only to be ignored in favor of rejecting a substantial bond package aimed at rectifying these problems is quite disconcerting. It's hard not to feel a sense of dismay knowing that students, especially those on upper floors, are having to navigate the school without feeling their way through the day due to icy temperatures ❄️. The district's communication strategies seem sound, but it's not enough to alleviate the discomfort and inconvenience these issues bring to students and parents alike 🤔

🤯 I cant even imagine schools without heat in today's world its just crazy that the HISD system is still struggling with outdated heating systems from 2024 it feels like we're right back in the Y2K era when everything was all about being prepared for the worst 📉 and social media updates are really not a thing until this happens, like parents literally rely on their schools to keep them updated on every little thing 😂 its just so old school, I remember my grandma used to complain about her heat pump not working during the winter and now it seems like HISD is dealing with similar issues 🤦‍♀️

🤕 I'm literally shivering just thinking about it... What's going on with these schools?! Can't they afford some basic heating for their kids?! Back in my day, we didn't send our kids off to school without a functioning heat system... I mean, I remember when my kid was in middle school and we had to deal with the occasional pipe freezing in our house. But at least it wasn't like this! The fact that these schools are still using outdated systems is just crazy... And now they're leaving parents in the dark? Not cool. I get that maintenance issues happen, but 47 degrees?! That's ridiculous! What's next, will we be telling them to bundle up for school or something? 🤣

I FEEL SO SICKENED WHEN I HEARD ABOUT THE COLD TEMPERATURES AT THOSE HOUSTON SCHOOLS!!! IT'S NOT RIGHT THAT KIDS HAVE TO GO WITHOUT HEAT IN THEIR CLASSROOMS ESPECIALLY WHEN WE KNOW THE DISTRICT KNEW ABOUT THESE ISSUES AND DIDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! 🤕💔 I MEAN, I GET THAT VOTERS REJECTED THOSE BOND PACKAGES BUT COME ON, 4.4 BILLION DOLLARS IS A LOT OF MONEY FOR A SCHOOL SYSTEM THAT CAN'T EVEN KEEP THE TEMPERATURES RIGHT! 🤑😒
