Local Family Left Traumatized After Tesla Fire Destroys Sanford Home
A devastating fire swept through a home in Sanford, Florida, on Tuesday morning, leaving the Raky family traumatized and without a roof over their heads. The cause of the blaze was attributed to an overheated Tesla charging station in the garage.
The family's prized vehicle, which had been left charging when the fire started, burst into flames at approximately 5 a.m., forcing Mina Raky, his wife, and four children to flee for safety. "I saw this black smoke coming out, everywhere," he recounted, visibly shaken by the experience.
As the family made their way to safety, panic set in. The eldest daughter, Lily, narrowly escaped with her life after searching frantically for her brother before leaping from a second-story window onto the screened-in porch below. She credits the screen with saving her life, saying she couldn't feel her body due to smoke inhalation.
In the aftermath of the fire, only the charred remains of the charging station and a partially burned Tesla shell could be seen outside the garage. The family's dog, Leo, was rescued by a police officer who returned to the scene after the family had made it out safely.
Lily managed to salvage some sentimental items from the wreckage, including notes from loved ones and a small statue of Jesus that she now views as her rescuer. "He [Jesus] rescued me," she said emotionally.
Tesla has yet to comment on the incident, leaving the Raky family with unanswered questions about what could have been prevented. For Mina, the loss is more than just material possessions β it's a traumatic experience he and his family will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
The Sanford Fire Department has launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, which is believed to be linked to the Tesla's charging station.
