How Christmas party cost senior partner his $850K job: ‘Wanted to sleep with her’

A high-flying partner at accounting firm EY was stripped of his $850K salary after propositioning a female colleague at a Christmas party, where he allegedly made lewd comments about her, telling her she was beautiful and implying that he wanted to sleep with her. The incident led to her complaining to management, prompting the senior partner's termination.

During the 2022 holiday gathering with a "Miami Vice" theme, Nicita made suggestive remarks to his female colleague, including stating that most of his affairs were with married women. However, when she expressed discomfort and revealed she was married, he attempted to downplay his behavior by claiming it was just an innocuous suggestion to go out for dinner.

The firm's managing partner subsequently told Nicita that his actions were "completely unacceptable from anybody, let alone a partner, let alone a senior partner." Despite denying making the suggestive comments, Nicita was given a stern warning and ordered to apologize to the complainant. The incident led to him losing 4% of his income, totaling $33,969.78.

Tragically, things took a darker turn when Nicita became embroiled in an altercation at a Sydney bar after attending a fundraiser for the Sydney University Rugby Club. After paying the bill, he discovered his jacket was missing and got into a physical confrontation with bar staff, leading to charges of common assault. CCTV footage showed him pushing the bar manager and bumping him with his chest.

When his boss learned about the incident, Nicita claimed it was "innocuous" and that the assault was just a push. However, the managing partner decided to terminate Nicita's position for "Just Cause," citing his behavior as unacceptable.

The senior partner is now challenging his termination in court, arguing that his boss breached their partnership agreement and seeking damages. Despite this, Justice David Mossop dismissed his claims, ordering him to pay costs to EY. The decision marks a stark reminder of the consequences of workplace harassment and misconduct.

I dont think its right that Nicita got such a slap on the wrist considering how bad he was 🤕. 4% is nothing when ur making $850K a year, especially when u get into physical altercations like that. And whats with his excuses? Like, dude you lost your jacket and got in trouble, own up to it! 🙄. The company did right by terminating him, I think they should've done more though. A good termination package would've been nice...like maybe a hefty severance and all that 💸

I'm seriously shook by this whole thing 🤯. I mean, Nicita thought he was above the law, but in reality, he just ended up being a walking disaster 💥. One minute he's trying to hit on his colleague at a party, and the next he's getting into a fight with bar staff 😂. The fact that he claimed it was "innocuous" is laughable, and I'm so glad the company took action against him 💁‍♀️.

It's also super refreshing to see a senior partner get held accountable for his actions 🙌. I mean, Nicita thought he could just waltz back into work after one little incident, but nope! He got fired, and now he's trying to sue the company 🤔. The court decision was spot on, imo 👍. It's a clear reminder that workplace harassment and misconduct won't be tolerated 💯.

I do think it's interesting that this case highlights the importance of having clear policies and procedures in place for handling workplace incidents 📝. EY must have had some kind of code of conduct or something, but clearly, it wasn't being followed by Nicita 😂. Anyway, I'm just glad that his colleague spoke up and got justice 💖. Case closed 👎

can't believe they let this guy slide for so long lol 💁‍♂️ I mean, 4% off his salary is nothing compared to what he could've done to that poor colleague 🤯 and then he has the nerve to challenge his termination in court? sounds like a total #sorrynotsorry attitude 😒 guess the law will just let him keep on walking with a fat paycheck 💸 meanwhile women should be protected from creeps like this 👩‍💼🚫

I'm so worried about Nicita right now 🤕...he's really messed up and he needs some serious help. I mean, propositioning a colleague at a Christmas party? Unacceptable, plain and simple 💔. And those lewd comments? No wonder she complained to management 😳.

And then he had the nerve to downplay his behavior when she revealed she was married 🤷‍♂️. Like, what kind of guy does that? He should've owned up to it and apologized properly instead of trying to spin it.

But you know what's even more concerning is that he got into a physical altercation at a bar after getting into trouble with the law 💥. Bar staff caught him pushing them and bumping into one...that's some serious bravery 😂. Not that I'm rooting for him or anything, but seriously, Nicita needs to get his life together 🙏.

Anyway, it's just so sad that he's challenging his termination in court now 👎. It's like, the writing was on the wall from the start...his behavior is just unacceptable 💯.

omg what a wild ride for nicita 😂 he went from being a hotshot senior partner at ey to getting stripped of his salary and terminated after making lewd comments to a female colleague. like, who does that? 🤦‍♂️ and then he had the nerve to get into a physical altercation with bar staff after accidentally taking off his jacket 😂. i feel so bad for the female colleague who reported him, she didn't deserve to deal with all that drama. anyways, it's just a reminder of how serious workplace harassment is, gotta keep those in line 👊

🤦‍♂️ just can't believe what happened to that guy at EY. $850K salary goes out the window over some lame comments about a colleague. Newsflash: it's not okay to make someone feel uncomfortable, especially in a work setting 🙅‍♂️ and that Christmas party is basically an invite for office shenanigans. Anyway, glad he got terminated lol...but seriously, workplace harassment is super serious stuff 💔, can't have people like this ruining the experience for others. 👎

u no, it's just another day for toxic dudes like Nicita 😔. I mean, who propositions a colleague at a Christmas party and expects everything to be cool? 🎅♂️ And to make matters worse, he tries to downplay his behavior by saying it was just a harmless suggestion... give me a break 💁‍♀️. But seriously, the fact that he got 4% of his income cut off is a tiny slap on the wrist considering what he did 😒. And let's not forget about the whole bar fight thing... I mean, who pushes someone and claims it was just a push? 🤦‍♂️ Anyway, I guess this is just another reminder that women still have to deal with all sorts of crap in the workplace 👎.

I don't usually comment but I'm still reeling from the latest news about Nicita's termination 😱. I mean, $850K salary for making some pretty cringeworthy comments at a Christmas party? It's just not okay to make lewd remarks about someone in a professional setting, let alone proposition them. And then he has the nerve to downplay it afterwards? Like, what even is that? 🙄

And don't even get me started on the altercation at the bar. Common assault charges and a physical confrontation with staff? That's just ridiculous. I feel bad for the bar manager, he didn't deserve to be treated like that. 💔

I think it's great that EY took swift action and terminated Nicita's position. It sends a clear message that this kind of behavior won't be tolerated in the workplace. And now, him trying to challenge his termination in court? Like, dude, you got what was coming to you 🤷‍♂️.

It's also refreshing to see Justice David Mossop dismissing Nicita's claims and ordering him to pay costs. It just goes to show that accountability matters, especially when it comes to workplace harassment and misconduct 💯

🙅‍♂️ this is so messed up, i mean, come on! who makes comments like that at christmas party? 🎄 it's not funny, it's not okay. and then he loses 4% of his income, which is still $33k... that's not enough to make it right. 😒 i think the firm did the right thing by terminating him, but now he's trying to sue them and it's just... 🤦‍♂️ the justice system needs to side with the victim in this case. the bar staff got into a physical altercation because of his behavior too! 👊 let's make sure that kind of stuff doesn't happen again. 💯

omg what a complete joke the senior partner is trying to sue EY for 1 mil?? like dude you got caught red handed propositioning some female colleague at a christmas party and now your getting sacked? 🤦‍♂️ and then you have the nerve to try and claim that your boss breached their partnership agreement? come on mate, you clearly knew what you were doing was wrong and now you're just trying to weasel out of it 🤑. Newsflash: if you wanna keep your job at EY, you gotta respect your colleagues and not be a creep 😒.

This guy Nicita needs to get a grip 🙄. I mean, propositioning someone at a Christmas party? That's just not cool 😒. And then he tries to downplay it by saying it was just a harmless suggestion? No way, dude, that's just a lame excuse. But you know what's even worse? The fact that he gets away with losing 4% of his income for it 🤑.

And don't even get me started on the bar incident 👊. I mean, pushing someone and bumping them into a wall? That's not just a push, that's assault 🚫. And he tries to claim it was innocuous too? No wonder he got fired 🙅‍♂️.

I'm glad EY stood firm on this one 💪. The guy clearly had some major red flags and his behavior is unacceptable. But you know what's even more unacceptable? The fact that he's trying to sue them for it in court 😒. I think he should just focus on learning from his mistakes and moving on with his life 🤦‍♂️.

😱🚫👮‍♂️ just heard about Nicita getting stripped of $850K salary over making super bad comments at a Christmas party 🎄😳 i mean, who does that?! trying to downplay it by saying it was just a dinner invite is not gonna cut it lol. and now he's got charges for assault too? 😲 what's next? the guy needs to get his act together or find a new career path ASAP... this case is all about the consequences of bad behavior, good job EY for standing firm 🙌

🚨 Guys I just saw this crazy news about some high-flying EY partner getting stripped of his six-figure salary for making super bad comments at a Christmas party 🎄👀. Like, come on, Nicita, you're a senior partner, act like it, but instead he makes some sleazy remarks and gets called out on it 💁‍♂️. And honestly, even if he claimed it was just a harmless comment, his behavior is still super unacceptable 🤢.

And then things take a darker turn when he gets into an altercation at a bar after paying the bill... like, dude, that's not okay 😡. The fact that he tried to downplay his comments by saying they were innocuous too shows he's just not taking responsibility for his actions 🙄.

Anyway, it's good to see EY standing firm on this one and showing that you can't just get away with workplace harassment and misconduct 😊. The senior partner trying to sue them is like, so extra, and thankfully they won the case 🎉.
