I'm not sure what to make of this whole thing

. On one hand, I get that the White House needs some TLC after being around for like, 200+ years. It's crazy to think about how much has changed since its construction back in the day. But $1 billion?! That's a lot of cash

. And I'm not sure why Trump feels the need to fund it with donations from companies like Amazon and Google

.
On the other hand, I do think it's weird that this project hasn't been approved by the National Capital Planning Commission yet

. It raises some concerns about transparency and accountability, for sure. But at the same time, I'm not sure what Obama's plan was exactly

. Was he just trying to outdo Trump in some way? And isn't it weird that his renovation only affected the interior of the East Wing, while this one is going to demolish a significant portion of it?
I guess what I'm saying is that I need more information before I can fully form an opinion about this whole thing

. It's definitely got me thinking though
