'I wanted that Raiders of the Lost Ark excitement – you could die any minute': how we made hit video game Prince of Persia

I think it's pretty cool how Jordan Mechner stuck with his vision even when technology was holding him back 🤔💻. The rotoscoping technique might've been slow, but it ended up giving Prince of Persia that unique look that still captivates players today 🔍. And I love how he was able to turn a dull exercise in level design into something exciting with the Shadowman mechanic 🔥. It just goes to show that creativity and perseverance can lead to some amazing results 💪!

I'm fascinated by Jordan Mechner's approach to creating Prince of Persia 🤯. The use of rotoscoping was a bold move, and I think it really added to the game's unique feel. It's crazy to think about how much effort went into developing that animation style by hand. The addition of combat mechanics was a great innovation - who would have thought to use byte-shifting to create a 'Shadowman' like that? 😎 The fact that Prince of Persia found new life in the US and had such a lasting impact on the industry is pretty amazing. It's clear that Mechner's perseverance paid off, even when faced with setbacks and failures. The game's influence can still be seen today, 30 years later - a testament to his vision and dedication 💪

omg I'm getting so emotional thinking about prince of persia!! 😭 I mean can you even imagine having to redo images frame by frame because there was no software? 🤯 like Jordan Mechner had this insane vision but had to put in so much blood sweat and tears just to make it happen 💔. And then when he added combat to the game, that's when it really came alive! 🔥 I love how he took risks and tried new things, like byte-shifting, to create a gameplay mechanic that was totally unique 🤯. The fact that it influenced so many other games and even movies is just mind-blowing 💥. And can we talk about how underrated the original apple II release was? 😂 I mean, it's amazing that it still managed to succeed despite being on an outdated machine 🎮. anyway, prince of persia will always be a game that shows you what happens when someone puts their heart and soul into something 💖.

omg i cant believe u guys still talkin bout prince of persia like its from another planet lol 😂👀 anyway i think jordan mechner was pure genius for using rotoscoping back in 1985 it looked so sick for its time and it still holds up today 🤯 he also did some crazy stuff with byte-shifting to make that shadowman fight scene epic 🔥 the game may have started on an outdated machine but its success in europe & japan proved that u can make it work anywhere 🌍
