The US immigration system needs to seriously overhaul its 'detention' policies. I mean, 50 days without seeing family or proper medical care? That's just messed up 
. Marwan Marouf sounds like an innocent guy who got swept up in a bad system. It's not fair to target people with deep community ties and long histories of good deeds 
.And what's really worrying is the chilling effect this has on other community members, especially those already vulnerable or without proper protections
. I mean, a photojournalist who was documenting Marouf's case got detained too? That's just insane 
.We need to see more of our politicians standing up for people like Marwan and not just using immigration enforcement as a way to score points
. It's time to find a better, more compassionate solution that balances security with human rights .
... I mean, I get why they're trying to enforce immigration laws and all, but it's gotta be tough to see someone who's been a pillar of the community just get swooped up like this. 20 years later, still getting hassled for something that's basically just a small donation 
... it's like, what's the point? And the fact that his own son is speaking out against these allegations, I'm sure he knows what's really going on

. And now a local journalist is even getting detained by ICE 
. I mean, what's the real deal here? They say he overstayed his visa, but from what I've seen, it looks like they're just trying to pin stuff on him because of who he is and where he comes from 
. I'm all for immigration enforcement, but this guy's got a serious heart condition - you'd think that would be a priority over whatever visa rules he allegedly broke

. I just hope they can find a way to get this guy released soon - we need more stories like this not less

ICE is supposed to be helping people, not putting them in a more vulnerable situation.
It's time for us as a community to come together and support them 
. it's like, he's been living there for yrs and has a community that loves him 
. marwan's son is right, 20 yrs later and the gov't is still trying to come after him for that 
. and to think that another person from his community was detained just cuz they're a journalist or have DACA... that's just horrific 
. we need more ppl like him who are just trying to make a life in this country
