so i'm thinking the pacers made this move because they need a spark on offense, right? mathews's numbers arent stellar but he showed flashes of what he can do, like against the bulls where he was guarded tight and still managed to get 15 points. its not just about scoring either, having a vet like mathews on board could bring some much-needed experience to the team. plus with robinson-earl struggling to find his place in the rotation, it makes sense that they'd wanna swap him out for someone who can contribute more consistently.
i'm not sure if this move will pay off, but its clear the pacers are trying to make a push despite all the injuries. if mathews can stay healthy and bring his A-game, he could be just what they need to take their season to the next level
THE INDIANA PACERS JUST MADE AN AMAZING MOVE BY SIGNING GARRISON MATHews TO A STANDARD CONTRACT!!! THIS COULD BE THE BOOST THEY NEED TO TURN THEIR SEASON AROUND! with all the injuries they're having, it's like they're trying to throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. but seriously, mathews brings a level of experience and shooting that can make a big difference. robinson-earl just got waived because he wasn't getting enough playing time, but i think it was only a matter of time before his role became marginal. ethan thompson is a great addition to the mix too! this team's gotta be feeling like they're finally getting their mojo back!
