Inside Nvidia's 10-year effort to make the Shield TV the most updated Android device ever

I'm just saying, 10 whole years of updates and support for the Shield TV? That's wild 🤯! I mean, I've got a gaming PC at home that's still getting outdated patches from my OS. It's crazy how Nvidia's been putting so much love into this thing.

What I don't get is why other companies can't do the same. Like, it's not rocket science or anything 🚀. The guy in charge just says they built it for themselves and wanted to experiment with full-stack systems. Makes sense, I guess. But still, I'd wanna see more transparency on their development process.

It's also wild that Nvidia's still making Shield Pro hardware despite not releasing new models since 2019 🤔. What's the demand like? Is there a secret market for retro gaming consoles or something 😂?

Anyway, kudos to Nvidia for sticking it out and showing us all what good product support looks like 👏.

I'm so stoked to see Nvidia still supporting the Shield TV after all these years 🤩! I mean, 10+ years of updates and support is like, wow... some companies would've given up by now, but not Nvidia 💯. Andrew Bell's comment about building Shield "for ourselves" makes sense - it's clear they're passionate about delivering a great product. The fact that they've maintained focus on gaming, streaming media, and high-performance features over the years is impressive 🎮. And it's awesome to see them prioritizing updates and bug fixes for older hardware - that's customer love right there ❤️. Fingers crossed they'll keep pushing out new stuff (or maybe even some new hardware?) in the future... that would be amazing 🤞

awww man, 10 years of updates and support for the Shield TV? that's incredible 🤯❤️! I can imagine how skeptical ppl were when it first came out, but Nvidia must've had a real vision for what they wanted to achieve with this device. It's awesome that they're still putting in effort and care into making sure it stays premium and compatible with new features 👍. I'm so down for more updates and bug fixes - who doesn't love getting stuff fixed and working properly? 😊 it's clear Nvidia's committed to their customers, and that's what matters most 💖

I'm so stoked about Nvidia's Shield TV, you know? Like, they've been consistently updating and supporting it for over 10 years now, which is crazy! They even released the first one in 2015, when not many people thought it'd be a big deal. But Andrew Bell, their senior VP of hardware engineering, revealed that they built Shield "just to learn and grow" - sounds like a pretty cool plan to me! 😊

I think what's really impressive is how Nvidia shifted its focus from gaming (which was awesome at first) to streaming media and high-performance features. The fact that the Shield TV still has way more audio and video capabilities than other TVs out there is no joke!

What I love about this story is that updates are so important for devices, especially internet-connected ones. It's all about staying current with platform features without introducing new bugs or security holes. Nvidia really is putting its money where its mouth is by supporting older Shield models as well.

And can we talk about how steady the sales have been despite not releasing new hardware since 2019? That says a lot about customer demand! Plus, they're still manufacturing the Shield Pro because people want it, which shows that their dedication to product support won't stop anytime soon. It's gonna be interesting to see what comes next from Nvidia, but for now, I'm loving this legacy of support and innovation 😊

I'm low-key impressed by Nvidia's commitment to Shield TV 🤩. 10 years of updates is no joke, and it shows they're not just about making a quick buck. I mean, most companies would've dropped support by now and moved on. But not Nvidia, they're like "we're gonna keep this thing running until we get it right". It's all about giving customers what they want, and it seems like Nvidia's passion for product support is the real deal 💯. And kudos to Andrew Bell for being transparent about why Shield was created - it's sick to think that Nvidia built it just to learn from themselves 🤓. Can't wait to see what's next for Shield! 🎮
