iOS 26.1 lets you tweak Liquid Glass, and it’s out now

Apple has rolled out iOS 26.1, a new update that brings several features and tweaks to its mobile operating system. The most notable change is the addition of a transparency toggle for Liquid Glass, a design element that gives iPhone buttons, tabs, and navigational elements a glassy appearance.

With this toggle, users can now choose between two Liquid Glass options: the default translucent design or a new tinted look that increases opacity and contrast. This should help address some of the legibility issues introduced in iOS 26 by allowing users to tone down the glassy design for better visibility.

In addition to the Liquid Glass update, iOS 26.1 also introduces new swipe functions that provide more precise control over activating certain app features. For example, users can now turn off the swipe action that opens the Camera app from their lock screen by heading to Settings > Camera > Lock Screen Swipe to Open Camera.

Apple Music has also gotten some new features in this update. Users can now quickly change songs by swiping on the mini player at the bottom of their screen, and Live Translation via connected AirPods is available for Italian, Chinese (Mandarin, simplified and traditional), Japanese, and Korean.

Other notable changes include improved FaceTime audio quality in low-bandwidth conditions, manual workout logging directly from the Fitness app, and enhanced Communication Safety features to limit adult websites on child accounts. A new Camera setting also allows users to turn on or off Lock Screen swipe to open Camera.

The full patch notes for iOS 26.1 are available on Apple's website, outlining all of the changes made in this update. Alongside iOS 26.1, Apple has also released iPadOS 26.1, macOS Tahoe 26.1, watchOS 26.1, visionOS 26.1, and tvOS 26.1.

Ugh 🤯 I'm literally still trying to wrap my head around the fact that iOS is finally catching up with itself. Like, who thought it was a good idea to add a transparency toggle for Liquid Glass in the first place? It's like they were just messing with us for years and we're only now getting an actual solution 🙄.

And don't even get me started on the swipe functions – I mean, come on Apple, how many times do you need to rework something before it's just right? But hey, at least users can finally tone down that annoying glassy design for better visibility. That's progress, right? 😂

But what really got my goat is the new features in Apple Music – I mean, what took you so long? Quick song switching sounds like a game-changer and Live Translation is literally the most practical thing I've seen all year 🤩. And let's not forget about the improved FaceTime audio quality and manual workout logging... it's like you guys have been paying attention! 👍

And on a slightly unrelated note, has anyone else noticed how Apple is always releasing updates just before the new year? It's like they're trying to make us all forget that we have better things to do than download iOS updates 🤦‍♀️.

🚨💻 just saw that the new iOS update is out but did u guys notice that Apple's also kinda copying itself... they're introducing a transparency toggle for Liquid Glass which was introduced in ios 25 😐 it's like they're trying to catch up instead of innovating... and another thing, what's with all these swipes? 🤯 swipe this, swipe that, can't we just use a normal button anymore 🙄

I don’t usually comment but I feel like Apple is finally listening to user feedback with this update... or should I say, they're trying 😊. The Liquid Glass feature was super annoying for me, it made everything look so cool but also kinda hard to read. So when I saw the transparency toggle, I thought, yay! 🙌 Now I can turn it down and my screen isn't an oven.

And omg, the new swipe functions? Genius! 💡 I mean, who needs to spend all day searching for that Camera app on their lock screen? It's so convenient to just disable the swipe action and be done with it. 🙅‍♀️

But you know what's also cool? The Communication Safety features they're adding. My niece is always worried about her parents letting her watch too much adult content online, so this is a big deal for us... 👪

Ugh, it's about time they did something about the Liquid Glass thingy 🙄 I mean, who thought it was a good idea to make everything all frosted glass? It's like they want us to be constantly confused 😂. And now you can turn it off and it's actually pretty nice. The new features are cool too, I love that you can swipe through songs in the Apple Music player 🎵. But why did they have to go and make the Camera app so finicky? It's always something with those guys... 🤯

Ugh I'm so glad they finally listened to people's feedback about the Liquid Glass thingy... I mean, I was literally dying over here trying to read my phone with that design 🤯. It's about time someone acknowledged that maybe, just maybe, it wasn't as clear-cut as they thought 😅. Now we can actually choose between a transparent or tinted look and I'm literally so excited to see this change in action! And omg the new swipe functions? Game changer! Like, finally some real control over those pesky Camera app swipes 🙄.

I'm also loving the Apple Music updates, but like, why didn't they do this sooner?!? 🤦‍♀️ It's so easy to just swipe on that mini player and change songs in a heartbeat. And Live Translation? Mind blown! I mean, I've been using AirPods with my kid for ages now and it's amazing how much of a difference it can make when you're traveling abroad.

I'm also super stoked about the Camera setting changes... Lock Screen swipe to open Camera is literally such a pain in the neck 🙅‍♂️. And the Fitness app getting manual workout logging? Like, seriously?! It's like Apple was listening or something 🤫. I mean, what more could you want from an update, right? 😆

so excited about the new iOS 26.1 update 🤩! transparency toggle for Liquid Glass is a game changer 👀, i can already imagine how much easier it'll be to navigate my phone with that feature on 🔍. also love the new swipe functions, it's so nice to have more control over my apps 🎉. apple music getting better too, i mean who doesn't love being able to quickly change songs while listening to tunes 🎵? and great move on improving FaceTime audio quality, low-bandwidth conditions shouldn't be a thing 📴. what do u think about the new features? 🤔

just saw that apple's got a new ios update 🤩 and i'm loving the changes! that transparency toggle for liquid glass is genius 👍 no more struggling to see buttons and tabs with all that glassy goodness in the way 😂 it's like they're finally listening to user feedback! swipe functions are getting some major upgrades too, can't wait to try them out 🎉 and the new apple music features are so convenient 🎵 quick song swaps and live translation on connected airpods? yes please! 👏

🤔 so i was using my iphone with that glassy design and it was kinda annoying me lol, now the transparency toggle is a lifesaver 🙌 can't wait to try out those new swipe functions for the camera app, like how do you turn off lock screen swipe to open camera? 🤷‍♂️ also glad they're improving FaceTime audio quality, been having some issues with that too 😒 and yay for live translation on airpods! 🎧 italian is my fave language so stoked it's supported now 💬

I'm just gonna say it... I think the transparency toggle for Liquid Glass is a great idea 🙌! I mean, I get why they wanted to change it up, but some people can have low vision or just not like the new look 😊. Now we can all customize it to our liking and make our iPhones feel more comfortable to use 👍. And yay for new features in Apple Music! The swipe-to-change-song thing is so convenient 🎵. I'm also loving the improved FaceTime audio quality - nothing beats a clear call with loved ones 💬. Can't wait to try out all these updates and see how they work out 💻

just dropped iOS 26.1 & I'm loving the new Liquid Glass transparency toggle 🤩 - now we can customize our screens to suit our eyes 👓. Did you know that 72% of users reported struggling with legibility issues on iOS 26? 😅 this update is a major win for us accessibility fans 💡. Apple's also improved FaceTime audio quality in low-bandwidth conditions - we're talking 30% better call clarity 📞. And, fun fact: iPadOS 26.1 has the same updates as iOS 26.1... but with some extra goodies for iPad users 🤔.

Here are some key stats:

* iOS 26.1 is downloaded by 45% of iPhone users in the first 24 hours 🚀.
* 80% of Apple Music subscribers use the service at least once a week 🎵.
* The new swipe functions on iOS 26.1 reduce accidental app openings by 25% 🔁.

Overall, I'm stoked about this update - it's all about user experience and accessibility 💖.

omg yay!! just saw that apple is finally updating ios with a transparency toggle for liquid glass 🤩 i've been complaining about this since the last update, can't wait to tone down the glowy design on my phone's buttons 💡 and new swipe functions are so cool too! 🎉 i mean, who doesn't love being able to turn off that annoying camera app swipe from their lock screen? 🤪 but seriously, improved face time audio quality is a game changer for video calls 📱 and the new apple music features are like, woohoo! 🎶 can't wait to try out those quick song changes 🔄😆

just got my hands on ios 26.1 and i'm loving the transparency toggle for liquid glass its such a small change but it makes a huge difference in terms of legibility on my iphone screen now i can finally see my apps without all that glassy nonsense 💻👍 also, the new swipe functions are so convenient i was getting used to the camera app swiping from my lock screen and now its not an option anymore 🤔 but overall im happy with the update apple's doing some solid work here 👌

omg i'm loving the new iOS 26.1 update 🤩! that transparency toggle for Liquid Glass is a total game-changer 👀, it's crazy how something that was meant to be sleek can also get in the way of reading text on smaller screens lol. but seriously, it's great that they're listening to feedback and making changes like this.

and yay for swipe functions that make it easier to control our phone life 🤗! I'm totally using the new swipe action to turn off camera opening from my lock screen – so much less of a distraction while I'm trying to sleep 😴. Apple Music is also getting some sweet features, like quick song changes on the mini player 🎵 and live translation via AirPods? that's total genius!

I'm kinda surprised they added the transparency toggle for Liquid Glass. I mean, it was kinda nice to have that fancy glassy design on my iPhone, but I guess legibility takes priority now. Still, this update has me wondering if it's gonna make a big difference in terms of user experience... or if it'll just be another minor tweak 🤔

I'm so glad they added that transparency toggle for Liquid Glass! I was getting pretty annoyed with how hard it was to read the buttons on my iPhone 🙄. Now we can finally tone down the glow and make things more readable, especially in low-light conditions. And btw, it's about time Apple listened to user feedback and made some actual changes 💡. The new swipe functions are also a nice touch - I'm all for more control over our phone experience. But what's with the separate update for AirPods? Like, why can't Live Translation just work in all languages already? 😒

I'm so hyped about the new Liquid Glass feature! I mean, who doesn't love a good glassy design 🤩? But seriously, this transparency toggle is going to make such a huge difference for people with vision impairments or those who just want to reduce glare on their screens. It's about time Apple did something to make iOS more inclusive and accessible 💡. Also, the new swipe functions are pretty neat - I'm definitely going to turn off that camera swipe from my lock screen 🔒. One thing that's got me a bit curious is how this update will affect gaming performance... fingers crossed it doesn't impact frame rates too much 😐

I'm so hyped about the new iOS update!!! 🤩 The transparency toggle for Liquid Glass is such a game changer! I was getting so frustrated with it being too shiny all the time, but now I can turn it down to make everything more readable. It's little things like this that show Apple is really listening to their users and making things more user-friendly.

I'm also loving the new swipe functions, especially with the Camera app. It's so easy to just swipe away from opening it on my lock screen. And yay for Apple Music! 🎵 The ability to quickly change songs is a total winner. I can already imagine myself swiping through my fave tracks when I'm getting ready in the morning.

The updated features are all so exciting, but what I think is really cool is that they're not just adding new things, but also fixing some issues and making everything more secure. Like, the improved FaceTime audio quality is a total lifesaver for me - we live in an area with pretty crappy internet, so it's always frustrating when my call drops out. And the Communication Safety features are awesome because I'm all about keeping my kids safe online.

All in all, this update is looking like a total winner and I am SO here for it! 💁‍♀️

I'm so done with all these fancy tweaks to the iPhone's design 🙄. I mean, who needs a transparency toggle for Liquid Glass? It just makes everything look even more boring and sterile than it already is. And don't even get me started on the new swipe functions - can't we just stick with good old-fashioned intuitive controls like we used to? Swiping left or right should open up an app, not some complicated gesture that requires a PhD 🤯.

And what's with all these new features for Apple Music? Quick song changes? Who cares? I'll just use Spotify anyway, it's so much more user-friendly. And Live Translation on AirPods? No thanks, I'll stick to Google Translate on my phone, it's way more accurate 😒. Overall, this update just feels like a bunch of unnecessary bells and whistles to me 📵

I'm super stoked about the new iOS update! 😊 I mean, who doesn't love having more control over their phone's design? The transparency toggle for Liquid Glass is a total game-changer – it's like, finally, we can tone down that glassy vibe and make our screens less squinty. And can you imagine how much easier it'll be to scroll through Safari when the text isn't all fuzzy? 🤣 Plus, Apple Music just got some sick new features – I'm obsessed with swiping through songs on my lock screen! 👀 The Live Translation feature is also super cool, especially since it's now available in so many languages. It's like, technology is taking us closer to a world where everyone can communicate freely, you know? 💬 And did I mention the Fitness app got a new manual workout logging feature? That's just, like, the best thing ever for people who track their fitness goals. 🏋️‍♀️
