like yeah expressin thanks sounds nice but what if it's just an excuse for ppl to manipulate u or make u feel guilty about not doin enough 
think about it when someone's all like "hey be grateful for me" and you're like "uh no thanks i'm good" they might get all offended or try to guilt trip you into sayin somethin u don't mean 
and meanwhile the whole thing is just a way 4 ppl in power 2 maintain their grip on us
