Israel kills 18 in new Gaza attacks after claiming Hamas breached truce

Israel's military has escalated its assault on Gaza, killing at least 18 people in multiple strikes across the war-torn enclave. The attacks come after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a resumption of the military campaign, claiming that Hamas had breached the US-brokered ceasefire.

The violence began with a series of airstrikes in Gaza City, including one that struck behind al-Shifa Hospital, causing chaos and panic among patients and medical staff. Four Palestinians were killed in the Sabra neighborhood, while five more died in Khan Younis. At least 50 people were injured across Gaza, putting the truce to its most serious test.

Netanyahu's office said he had instructed the military to carry out powerful strikes after "security consultations," but US Vice President JD Vance suggested that the ceasefire was holding despite the attacks. Vance noted that there had been an incident in which Hamas or another group within Gaza attacked an Israeli soldier, and that Israel would naturally respond to such an attack.

However, Netanyahu's office claimed that Hamas had committed a "clear violation" of the ceasefire agreement by returning remains belonging to a previously recovered captive. Suhail al-Hindi, a member of Hamas's political bureau in Gaza, rejected this claim, saying that the group faced significant difficulties during the recovery of the bodies and accusing Israel of bearing full responsibility for any delay.

The escalating violence has raised fears of a return to war on Gaza's besieged population. The US-led Civil-Military Co-operation Centre had played a vital role in bringing Egyptian technical teams into Gaza to retrieve the bodies of Israeli captives, but Netanyahu's far-right cabinet had called for harsh measures in response.

Analysts say that Netanyahu has been carrying out provocative acts meant to strain the agreement from the start, and that Israel is testing the boundaries with US President Donald Trump. However, others believe that the dispute is unlikely to derail the entire ceasefire agreement, given the heavy investment of the US and its regional partners in the deal.

As tensions continue to escalate, concerns are growing about the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza. The flow of aid has been severely limited, and Israeli control over the enclave remains a major issue. With the ceasefire hanging in the balance, it is unclear what the future holds for Gaza's population, who have already suffered unimaginable harm in the two-year war.

I'm seeing red 🚨🌹 this escalation of violence in Gaza, and I just can't believe Netanyahu's playing it so dirty 🤥. Like, come on, guys, we all know that Hamas didn't exactly have a 'clear violation' clause 😒. This whole thing feels like Israel trying to stir up drama while the aid flow is already super limited 💸.

And let's be real, JD Vance's attempt to downplay this isn't working 🙄. We all see the truth behind these airstrikes - it's like Netanyahu wants to test the limits of the ceasefire deal and push it over 🤯. The US has put in so much effort to get a truce going, and now we're back at square one 🔄.

Gaza's people are already suffering unimaginable trauma 🌊, and this cycle of violence only makes things worse 🚫. Can't we just find a way to talk through our differences without resorting to these sorts of escalating measures? 🤞 It's like the world is holding its breath, waiting for someone to make a move...

😕 the violence just keeps escalating 🤯, 18 people dead and countless more injured... it feels like we're stuck in a never-ending cycle of destruction 🔄. the blame game is on, but who's really to blame? 💔 seems like both sides are digging themselves into a hole. 💥 the situation is dire, Gaza's population is already living through a war that refuses to end 🌪️. what's the point of all this violence and bloodshed? 🤷‍♂️

It's really sad to see Israel escalating its assault on Gaza again 🤕. I think Netanyahu's actions are putting a huge strain on the ceasefire agreement and it's only a matter of time before things get out of hand. The fact that Hamas is being blamed for breaching the ceasefire when it was actually Israel's fault for not releasing the captured bodies is just ridiculous 😡.

I'm worried about the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza, the situation is getting more and more desperate over there 🤯. The US-led Civil-Military Co-operation Centre played a vital role in bringing Egyptian technical teams into Gaza to retrieve the bodies of Israeli captives, but Netanyahu's far-right cabinet just kept pushing for harsh measures instead.

It feels like Israel is testing the boundaries with the US President Donald Trump and trying to push their own agenda 🤔. But what about the people who have already suffered unimaginable harm in the two-year war? They deserve better than this 💔. I hope someone can bring some sense to the situation before it's too late ⏰.

"The die is cast" – Mark Twain 🤔💥

I'm thinking that Israel and Hamas will keep going back and forth like this until someone makes a move to actually break the cycle of violence. It's sad, because those innocent people in Gaza are suffering too much already. The international community needs to step in here and make sure everyone is heard and that some kind of solution can be found. We can't just sit back and watch this escalate further...

I don't think this is going to end well for Gaza... Like, seriously, 18 people killed already and it's still just getting started? 🤯 And Netanyahu's trying to spin that Hamas breached the ceasefire when really they're just saying Israel was too slow on recovering those bodies. Come on, guys, that's just convenient. The US is all like "ceasefire's holding" but I'm not buying it... The thing is, this isn't about security, it's about politics and Netanyahu's ego. He's trying to distract from his own problems by escalating the situation. And don't even get me started on the humanitarian crisis - it's getting worse every day because of this. We need to do something to help those people, ASAP! 💔🌎
