Jake Paul's highly anticipated exhibition fight against lightweight world champion Gervonta Davis has been cancelled, the pair had been scheduled to meet on November 14th in Miami. The bout was set to headline a Netflix-streamed event but Most Valuable Promotions announced that it would "no longer be moving forward" following an investigation into allegations of abuse made by Davis' ex-girlfriend.

According to the lawsuit complaint filed against Davis, he has a history of physical and emotional abuse towards his former partner Courtney Rossel. The court documents state that there were at least four previous incidents in which Davis physically assaulted and choked Rossel, as well as threats against her life.

Davis is currently facing charges relating to domestic violence following an incident in February 2020 when he was arrested on battery charges. He served time in jail for violating the terms of a house arrest sentence from November 2020.

Paul expressed his disappointment with Davis stating that working together was "an absolute nightmare".
 
.. this whole thing is so messed up 🤕. Like, I was super hyped to see Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis go down in the ring, but now it's all cancelled due to these allegations of abuse against Davis... 😔. It's just crazy that a woman has come forward with like 4 instances of physical and emotional abuse, and he's got charges pending from back in 2020 too 🚨.

I'm not gonna sit here and judge Gervonta, but it's gotta be super concerning for people to hear about all this. And Jake Paul is right to speak out - working together was clearly a nightmare 💀. I just hope Davis gets the help he needs... everyone deserves better than that 🤗. Maybe this whole thing will lead to some real change and more accountability in the sports world? 💡
 
🤕 this is so disappointing, can't believe it's happening like what's going on with Gervonta Davis, I feel bad for Courtney Rossel she deserves better, anyone else would've gotten a slap on the wrist by now and still be fighting 🥊. And Jake Paul, he should really think before acting, his whole brand is built on being a "good guy" but this cancellation shows us he's not immune to controversy 💔

And now Jake Paul's getting off the hook from the fight too, which is kinda harsh 😒 He was looking forward to this one big event and it's all being cancelled because of Davis' reputation. I guess you could say that Paul got outsmarted by Davis' team 🤓

I feel bad for Courtney Rossel and all the other victims of abuse. We gotta support them more, you know? 💪 And it's not fair to Jake Paul that he got caught up in this drama like that. At least he was able to express his feelings about it instead of just keeping quiet. 🙌 It's good that he spoke out against Davis' behavior, even if it meant losing a fight... I guess you could say his priorities are higher than winning a bout 💯

anyway, let's look at some stats on domestic violence... according to the CDC, in 2020 alone, over 10 million people in the US experienced physical intimate partner violence. that's like, almost 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men. 😱 and it's not just physical stuff, emotional abuse is a big one too.

chart time! 📈 here are some stats on the number of domestic violence charges filed per year in the US:

* 2015: 2.4 million
* 2018: 3.2 million
* 2020: 4.6 million

it's crazy how many people are affected by this stuff. 💔

I got no love for either of them, but come on Gervona why did you have to bring all this baggage into the ring? 💔 like, you're a pro fighter dude, shouldn't you know how to keep your personal life private? 🤷‍♂️ and now Paul's just gonna sit back and collect that paycheck while Davis is out here fighting for his freedom... or at least not getting locked up again. 🚫

omg what a bummer 🤕 i knew this fight was gonna be lit but now its all about gervonta's personal life and i gotta say, abuse is never okay 💔 he deserves better than the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. jake paul may have cancelled but at least hes standing up for what matters. on a side note, if gervonta wants to get back in the ring, lets see him make some positive changes first 🤓

Gervonta Davis has a reputation for being a tough guy in the ring, but if he's got a history of abuse outside of it too, that's just heartbreaking 😔. I feel bad for Courtney Rossel and all she's been through 💔. And Jake Paul was really looking forward to this fight too 🤞... maybe this is an opportunity for him to focus on his own life and well-being instead? 🙏

🤔 I'm really disappointed to hear this news, like a major bummer 🤕. Gervonta Davis is an amazing boxer and I was so stoked to see him go head-to-head with Jake Paul. It's just a shame that the whole thing got cancelled due to these allegations against Davis. You gotta feel bad for Courtney Rossel and her kids who have been through this 💔. And it's crazy that Paul isn't backing out of it either, I guess that shows he's not afraid of controversy 🤷‍♂️. Anyway, can we get a rescheduled date or just move on to the next big fight?
