Jimmy Eat World to Celebrate 25 Years of 'Bleed American' with Iconic Tour
In a move that's sure to bring back nostalgic memories for fans, the Mesa, Arizona-formed alt-rock quartet Jimmy Eat World has announced its highly anticipated 25th anniversary tour in celebration of their breakthrough album "Bleed American." Spanning multiple continents and cities, the extensive trek will kick off on June 9 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, with dates extending into late November.
The band's frontman Jim Adkins explained that the album holds a special place in his heart, as it marked a turning point in their career. "It changed our lives," he said, recalling how "Bleed American" catapulted Jimmy Eat World onto the map and introduced them to a broader audience. The 11-track setlist will see the band performing each song in its entirety, albeit not necessarily in sequential order.
Interestingly, Capitol Records dropped Jimmy Eat World following the release of their second album "Clarity," but Adkins emphasized that this move didn't hinder the group's momentum. In fact, they continued to build a following and opened for larger acts. The band funded "Bleed American" independently, with singer-songwriter Mark Trombino producing the record for free.
"Bleed American" was released in 1999 and marked Jimmy Eat World's first top 40 effort on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, thanks to its hit single "The Middle." The song arrived quickly, as did another standout track called "The Authority Song," which references John Cougar Mellencamp and the Jesus and Mary Chain. Bassist Rick Burch recalled that he met Rachel Haden from That Dog through mutual friends in Los Angeles, who provided backing vocals on five of the album's tracks.
To commemorate its 25th anniversary, Jimmy Eat World has prepared an exhaustive tour itinerary featuring numerous festivals and venues across North America, Europe, and Asia. Ticket sales will go live during presales for American Express and Citi card members, with general ticket sales following on February 13 at 10 a.m. local time.
This is sure to be an event that no Jimmy Eat World fan will want to miss, offering a chance to relive the magic of their iconic album "Bleed American" while experiencing it in a live setting.
