John Harbaugh is back in the NFC East, and the Giants could be good again

John Harbaugh, the NFL's winningest coach of all time, is returning to the NFC East with a gig as the head coach of the Giants. This move could be problematic for the Eagles, who gave him his first NFL coaching job under then-head coach Andy Reid.

Harbaugh was recently fired by the Ravens after 18 years in Baltimore, where he won a Super Bowl, made the postseason 12 times, and finished with a winning record 13 times. He is one of the highest-paid coaches in the league, with a reported $5-year deal worth over $30 million.

The Giants are inheriting a team that has struggled to find success in recent years, missing the playoffs 12 times since 2012. However, they do have talent on the roster, including quarterback Jaxson Dart, wide receiver Malik Nabers, left tackle Andrew Thomas, and pass rushers Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns.

Harbaugh's hiring could be a double whammy for the Eagles, who are currently searching for a new offensive coordinator after relieving Kevin Patullo of his post. Todd Monken, Harbaugh's former offensive coordinator with the Ravens, is expected to join him in New York, which has been reported as part of the plan all along.

Harbaugh's coaching staff includes some of the NFL and college football's brightest minds, including Mike McDonald, Greg Roman, Dean Pees, Wink Martindale, Gary Kubiak, Jim Caldwell, and Monken. He also coached alongside several future head coaches and coordinators in Philly under Reid, including Sean Payton, Steve Spagnuolo, Sean McDermott, Ron Rivera, Brad Childress, Pat Shurmur, David Culley, and Leslie Frazier.

The Eagles had mixed results against Harbaugh during his time as Ravens coach, going 2-3 in their five matchups. However, they did manage to snap a two-game losing streak when they beat Baltimore in Week 13 of the 2024 season.

With Harbaugh leading the Giants, the NFC East is about to get a serious shake-up. The Eagles' chances of repeating as division champions will be put to the test, and it's unclear how well they'll fare against their new rival.

The Big Apple just got a whole lot bigger...and more complicated 🍎😏. I mean, Harbaugh's coming in with all that firepower from Baltimore and a reported $30 million paycheck, which is like buying a new squad of players every year πŸ’Έ. The Eagles might be in trouble now - on the bright side, they can say they've had some tough matchups against Harbaugh...who knows if they'll ever live down those losses πŸ˜‚. This NFC East shake-up could get real interesting, and I'm hyped to see how it all plays out! πŸ”₯🏈

omg i'm low-key salty about this news πŸ€”... harbaugh's move to the giants is gonna make life tough for the eagles especially with todd monken joining him which feels like a major blow πŸ’”... i mean harbaugh's got a ton of talent on his roster and he's one of the highest-paid coaches in the league so it's hard to see them not being competitive this year 🏈... and now that harbaugh's coaching staff is all set up they're gonna be a force to be reckoned with, i can already imagine the games against the eagles and how intense it's gonna get 😬

πŸ€” I'm not sure if this is a good move for the Giants or the rest of the NFC East tbh... Harbaugh has proven himself with the Ravens but he also had some tough matchups with the Eagles under Andy Reid. Maybe the Giants can be the surprise team this season? 🀞 But the Eagles definitely need to step up their game if they wanna stay on top. Can't wait to see how it all plays out! πŸ˜ƒ

I don't usually comment but... this move by the Giants feels like they're taking a huge risk πŸ€”. I mean, John Harbaugh is an all-time great coach, but he was just fired by the Ravens after 18 years πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. What did the Giants see that others didn't? And with him coming in, it's gonna be tough for the Eagles to compete against their new rival 😬. I'm not saying they can't do it, but Harbaugh has got a top-notch coaching staff now and he's one of the highest-paid coaches in the league πŸ’Έ. The Giants have got some talent too, but can they put it all together? Only time will tell πŸ•°οΈ.

man I remember when Harbaugh first joined the Ravens back in 2008 he was just a young buck trying to make a name for himself πŸ€”. now look at him he's one of the highest paid coaches in the league with a reported $5-year deal worth over $30 million πŸ’Έ it's crazy how far he's come. but I gotta say I'm not sure what to expect from the Giants this season, they've been struggling for years and now they're putting their faith in Harbaugh πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. the Eagles are gonna have to step up their game if they wanna keep their title shot πŸ”₯. personally I think Harbaugh's coaching style is all about control and discipline, might be tough for Philly to deal with 😬. but hey who knows maybe he'll bring some much needed stability to the Giants 🀞.

πŸ€” this hire by the giants feels like a gamble... i think harbaugh's team will need some time to gel, especially with that quarterback jaxson dart still developing πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ but on the other hand, it's not like they're starting from scratch – they've got talent on the roster and a bunch of coaches with experience πŸ‘ also gotta say, this could be a big boost for harbaugh's rep and payday πŸ’Έ i'm curious to see how he'll stack up against reid again, might be interesting to watch πŸ“Ί

I gotta correct ya, think Harbaugh joining the Giants is all about the talent on that roster lol. I mean, Jaxson Dart and Malik Nabers are decent players, but we ain't talkin' Super Bowl material just yet πŸ˜‚. The real issue here is the coaching staff πŸ‘Š. Monken's comin' back to Philly, that's a big blow for the Eagles' offense. And with Harbaugh leadin' the Giants, they're gonna try to exploit the Eagles' weaknesses on D πŸ€”.

The whole thing just smells like revenge, ya know? The Eagles gave Harbaugh his first break in '12, and now he's comin' back to haunt 'em πŸ™„. We'll see how this all plays out, but one thing's for sure: the NFC East is gonna be a wild ride πŸ’₯.

I THINK THIS MOVE COULD BE A BIG DEAL FOR THE EAGLES!!!!!!! HARBAUGH'S GOT A REPUTATION FOR BEING ONE OF THE BEST COACHES IN THE LEAGUE AND HE'S BRINGING MOST OF HIS STAFF WITH HIM TO THE GIANTS!!!!! THE EAGLES ARE ALREADY STRUGGLING WITHOUT THEIR OLD OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR, SO THIS JUST ADDS MORE PRESSURE ON THEM!!!!! I THINK IT'S GOING TO BE A BATTLE ROYALE IN THE NFC EAST!!!!!!! 🏈πŸ’₯

omg this is crazy 🀯 john harbaugh just became the head coach of the giants i think this could be bad news for the eagles who gave him his first nfl coaching gig back in the day what's up with the giants having such a low winning record lately but they got some talent on their roster maybe harbaugh can turn things around 🀞

this is gonna be interesting ... think the eagles just got robbed of another year in the division with harbaugh on the giants... remember when they beat baltimore under harbaugh's old regime? hopefully that was a fluke but hard to say now... the 12 years without playoffs for the giants is crazy... they're basically starting from scratch...

man, this is gonna be interesting... harbaugh comin back to the nfc east after 18 years in baltimore is a big deal for the giants, but i gotta think about how it affects the eagles... todd monken joinin harbaugh's staff might be the icing on the cake for philly, since they've been strugglin' to find a good OC... jaxson dart and malik nabers got some talent on that giants roster, but can harbaugh whip 'em into shape? one thing's for sure, the NFC East is about to get lit πŸ”₯🏈

I'm telling you 🀯, this is huge news for the NFL! Harbaugh's coaching style is all about intensity and discipline, which could be a major boost for the Giants πŸ¦–. But what's up with Todd Monken joining him? That's like throwing oil on a fire πŸ”₯. The Eagles are already in shambles after Patullo got fired, now they gotta deal with Harbaugh's former OC? Not good πŸ€•. And let's be real, the Giants have some talent πŸ’ͺ, but can they put it all together under Harbaugh's leadership? I'm not sure 😏. One thing for sure, though: this is going to make the NFC East a whole lot more interesting πŸ”!

awww man πŸ˜” this news gotta be tough for the eagles fans πŸ€• harbaugh was like a big brother to them in baltimore but now he's taking that talent to the giants... that's just rough 🀯 and i'm sure the eagles are gonna miss him, they had some great times against him too 🀝 still gotta give credit to the ravens for letting him go after all those years πŸ’”

can you imagine the eagles vs giants games this season 🀯🏈 harbaugh bringing all that experience and his entire staff which is like a super team πŸ‘ŠπŸ’ͺ with todd monken as oco too that's gonna be tough for philly to compete against 😬 the question is can jaxson dart lead them to a win against harbaugh's giants? πŸ€”

I don’t usually comment but I gotta say this one’s got me intrigued πŸ€”. John Harbaugh going to the Giants could be a big deal for the NFC East. I mean, he’s one of the best coaches in the league and he's taking a team that hasn't been very successful recently. That talent on the roster is definitely something to build on πŸ’ͺ.

But what really got me thinking is how this affects the Eagles. They had him as their coach before and it didn’t go so well for them, especially with Jaxson Dart at QB πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Now they gotta find a new OC and Harbaugh's team is gonna be tough to beat. It’s like he’s bringing his A-game to the Giants πŸš€.

The thing that worries me is what Todd Monken brings to the table πŸ‘Š. He was part of Harbaugh’s staff with the Ravens, so it feels like they’re just bringing their old crew along for the ride 🚫. How will that affect how they play against the Eagles? Only time will tell ⏰.

One thing's for sure though - this division is gonna be heating up πŸ”₯

Harbaugh back in NFC East could give the Eagles some trouble πŸ€”πŸ’ͺ Their defense was pretty solid under Reid so hopefully it can stay that way... but with a new coach, you never know 😐

I THINK THIS MOVE BY THE GIANTS IS GONNA BE A BIG DEAL!! JOHN HARBAUGH CAME UP WITH THE EAGLES UNDER ANDY REID AND NOW HE'S GOING TO BE HIS OLD COACH AGAIN 🀯. IT MIGHT BE HARD FOR THEM TO TAKE DOWN HARBAUGH, ESPECIALLY WITH TODD MONKEN COMING ALONGSIDE HIM. THE EAGLES HAVE SOME TALENTED PLAYERS BUT CAN THEY WIN WITH THIS NEW TEAM IN CHARGE? WE'LL JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE HOW THINGS PLAY OUT!!!

omg i cant even believe this lol so harbaugh is coming to the giants after getting fired from baltimore πŸ˜‚ he was literally one of the best coaches in the league for like 18 years and now hes just gonna waltz into nyc with his giant paycheck πŸ’Έ and expect everything to be okay? idk man i feel bad for the eagles they got robbed when harbaugh left baltimore but now hes coming back and its like wow theyre really getting the short end of the stick πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

anyway i think the giants have a good shot at making some noise in the nfc east with harbaugh at the helm πŸŽ‰ especially with todd monken joining him as offensive coordinator πŸ‘ he has experience working under harbaugh and its clear they make a great team πŸ’• now lets see how the eagles hold up against them πŸ”₯

man this is crazy news 🀯! back in my day we never thought we'd see a coach like john harbaugh come out of nowhere and become one of the winningest coaches in the nfl history... now he's leaving baltimore for the giants and it's gonna be a wild ride 🏈. i'm not surprised though, he did say some things about the eagles during his time as ravens coach that kinda rubbed me the wrong way πŸ˜’. but you gotta give him credit, he's got one of the highest-paid coaching jobs in the league and he's not afraid to take on a new challenge.

the giants are gonna be a tough team for the eagles this year... i mean, harbaugh's coaching staff is like a who's who of nfl legends πŸ€“. they're gonna be hard to beat, especially with todd monken joining him in new york. the eagles gotta step up their game if they wanna keep repeating as division champs πŸ’ͺ. it's gonna be a great season though, that's for sure!
