. This whole "winning just adds to the grueling schedule" thing sounds like a cop-out to me. If the NBA really wanted to make this tournament more meaningful, they should be awarding more substantial incentives, like guaranteed playoff spots or significant contract extensions for the winning team. The extra half-game in the regular season win column is just not enough to make up for the fact that players are already putting in 82 games of intense physical and mental labor.
